i5 9600k v i7 8700k / 9700k

Hi so I'm about to purchase parts for a new gaming and streaming / all round rig (bits of video / graphic editing and programming, nothing major)

I had originally picked out the i5 9600k but having seen some reviews and especially the gamers nexus video I am having second thoughts.

I am now also looking at the i7 8700k or the 9700k, they are currently the same price with my retailer.

Out of the three, which do you think is best option? How much does hyperthreading make a difference etc...

What software suite do you use?

The quick answer would be to wait for Zen 2.

Mainly Adobe products such as Premiere, Photoshop and some After effects.

OBS for streaming / capturing

Then many different IDE's for different platforms.

I am looking to get the build complete this week so not really looking to wait unfortunately.

8700k would most likely be the best CPU to choose, HT does make a difference and in general it should be cheaper than the 9700k

This is what I was thinking regarding HT. The 9700k is actually the exact same price in the UK (atleast from my retailer) so don't know how that affects the decision?

In that case I'd rather bet on AMD and gamble, so get a cheap 6 Core Ryzen 5 (1600, 2600 or X versions).

1600X don't come with Heatsink, rest does.

And then you can replace the CPU with something better later this year.

Or possibly next year a Zen2+

If they are priced The Same then go with the i7 9700K... It should be easier to OC to 5ghz but yeah truth be told it's pretty much the same chip as the 8700K reason why if cheaper you can go with it instead.

Sadly for your applications Intel really's going to play out better than Ryzen so stick to it.
