Does Steam gift card usage remove community market restrictions?

Go to solution Solved by SkyHound0202,

I suggest you to read this Steam knowledge base article. And I quote:

Receiving a Steam gift or digital gift card from a friend doesn't count

You will need to spend at least $5.00 USD (equivalent) within the Steam store to remove the limit.

What you can do:

Quote
  • Adding the equivalent of $5 USD or more to your Steam Wallet
  • Purchasing game(s) that are equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store
  • Adding a Steam Wallet card that is equal to $5 USD or more to your Steam account
  • Purchasing a Steam gift that is equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store

Hello,

Im a big newbie to steam and was wondering about the steam market restriction.

Steam says that to acces the market and send friend requests I have to have a purchase, I want to know if buying an item with a gift card can help remove that restriction.

Like if I can ask my friend to give me a gift card and I buy stuff with it using my account, will it count as a valid steam purchase and help me access community market, send friend requests and all.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

The restriction is in place to keep scammers as minimal as possible. If it would be easy to go around it, then it wouldn't work. So if you live in country where digital payments aren't a thing, Steam gift cards are found in many bigger retail stores.
