Same RAM different frequency.

Good Morning!

I recently did an upgrade on my PC where I bought a 2 X 8Gb kit of Ram:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HKF4ZUI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I only bought 1 kit because thats all I could afford at the time, but knew my end goal was 32Gb total. The problem is that exact kit is no longer available, however the exact same ram, but in 3200Mhz is.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HKF479C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

My question is, can I use both kits, kit 1 in slots 1 & 3 kit 2 in slots 2 & 4?

yes but you have to set the Frequency, Timing and Voltage manually.

set all RAM sticks to the lowest frequency kit, which is 3000Mhz  15-17-17-35 at 1.35V

Yes, it will probably set both kits to 3000MHz with timings of 15-17-17-35 or so when you enable XMP.

You could more than likely run them both at 3200MHz with those timings at 1.4v

I know its iffy at best, but what would happen if I had XMP enabled for both channels? (it is working for the kit I currently have).

You can just get this kit, and change the timings on your current RAM to the same timings as this kit. It's the same exact RAM except it's CL16, not CL15.

Thank you, you answered my follow up question before I even got it out! worst case scenario, I can always sell my original Kit and just get two of the 3200, but its nice knowing I may not need to.
