Screen quality of a certain laptop

martobs
Go to solution Solved by genexis_x,

This model has low sRGB

Does anyone know where I could find the color accuracy (sRGB / Adobe RGB ratings) and screen brightness/ distribution of the HP Pavilion 15-bc410nq ? Thanks in advance ?

Couldn't find those exact numbers quickly, but did see HP lists this laptop's screen as  "SVA", which stands for 'standard viewing angles', which is a fancy marketing term for a TN display.

Will try to find some more info on ratings, but don't expect a photo editing quality screen from this model of laptop.

EDIT:

Found a review of a different HP Pavillion Gaming laptop which had this to say:

Spoiler

It was no big surprise when we found that the laptop could reproduce only 62 percent of the sRGB gamut. While on a par with the Y700 (61 percent), it was well below the mainstream average (86 percent), the Inspiron 15 7000 (70 percent) and the Alienware 15 (103.4 percent).

Luckily, the Pavilion 15's color accuracy was better than its color-reproduction abilities, hitting 0.71 on the Delta-E test (0 is ideal), which beats the 7.3 average. That score was also enough to defeat Alienware 15's 1.3, but not the Y700 (0.7) or the Inspiron 15 7000 (0.41)

You might need a spare candle or two with this one. The Pavilion 15 averaged a muted 176 nits, which is well below the 252-nit average. The Inspiron 15 7000, Y700 and Alienware 15 were much brighter, at 222, 263 and 311 nits, respectively.

They unfortunately didn't post the modelnumber, so can't check if this one also has an 'SVA' screen, but since it's in the same line of laptops (just older), I'm just gonna assume it has a similar screen.

I edited my post, probably just after you responded. The only reliable thing I found was a review for an older laptop in the same line and they were altogether not too happy about the display.

What you could do is connect a different (color accurate) screen to the laptop to color edit stuff, but I wouldn't just rely that screen on the built in display for color work.

99% low sRGB (~50%) considering that it's HP generic line / Pavilion line, probably bad TN panel too

Usually 17 inch FHD IPS has good display quality - high sRGB, brightness etc

However the laptop you choose is mediocre

did you look at the f-ing prices ? I specifically said my budget was around 900-950$(you were the one who asked). The ones you are showing me are 1200$ because of the gtx 1060.(and the one with a 1050ti , although in my budget, has an inaccurate screen) Next time don't just send something without actually looking into the price. Thanks.
