Hey so I have 3 monitors, and when I wake up in the morning and wake my computer from sleep mode. All of my taskbars and icons are super messed up. Like I can't click on any taskbars, apps/icons, and I can't even use the windows search function. I was super frustrated for a few months and finally looked it up online and was glancing at the microsoft website and they had said if you restart windows explorer the issue should be resolved, and does temporarily fix the issue until my computer goes back to sleep. Also everything on my left monitor goes to my middle monitor, middle monitor and right monitor keep the applications as they were when I logged off. The glitched taskbar happens on all 3 monitors after waking it up and so does the broken search function/icons/apps. I redownloaded windows about 6 months ago and ever since then randomly throughout the day my browser will load suppppppperrrr slow. If I update the browser it usually fixes the issue but when I click to load the update page it takes like 5+ Mins. Sometimes there isn't even an update. If used several different browsers and they are all super slow loading randomly, when they load in like 1ms usually. The browsers I've tried are Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Google Chrome Canary, OperaGX, and Brave. They all will be super fast like 95% of the time then they will be deathly slow. If I'm on youtube/twitch and switching streams/videos it loads instantly but if I try to open a different website in the same tab/another tab it becomes like deathly slow(5+ Mins per webpage). Is there any suggested fix for the issues I'm having? They're not major issues just super annoying to deal with everyday. If you have any questions to ask me please let me know. Thanks friends

Hi, I've got constant 20% CPU usage in my task manager on the "windows explorer" process even while I'm running a prime95 stress test. I accidentally installed Avast antivirus the other day, but immediately uninstalled it. That's what's causing this isn't it? So anyways, should I use their avast removal tool instead or is that just going to cause more bloatware as well?

I'm trying to get all my Blu-ray rips (.mkv files) organized, which of course, the normal Windows Explorer sorting rules makes a chore. It doesn't logically sort alphabetically like you would think it should (doesn't ignore minor articles like "the" and "a" when they're the first word, it doesn't properly count Roman numerals, and it sorts spaces before no character). I see there is a "Sort Title" file property that Explorer can sort by, but I can't figure out how to edit that property. I've been using MetaX to edit my videos' metadata, and it does have a sort by tag for name, artist, etc., but apparently it sets a different tag than what Explorer reads as Sort Title because the Sort Title tag is still blank after editing the sort name in MetaX. Can anyone tell me how this Sort Title property can be edited?

So to explain, I downloaded the Material Design Icon Set for Android on Github. The problem is every icon is in its own subfolder and there are a few thousand icons. The problem I solved so far is the renaming of each file to actually pertain to the content of the icon itself. File Renamer Turbo is helpful in that regard. As well as many other scenarios. What I'm trying to figure out is if there's a faster way than opening each folder, two at a time, Control F to search for the file type (in this case SVG) and then dragging them over to the folder I'd like them in. Then repeat this process. Is there a faster way to complete this process? This folder alone has 345 unique Icons and every icon has 5 variants so I'd like to make this process as painless as possible Here's a quick video explaining the process I have now.

I downloaded a game trainer and Windows asked me what to open it with. It was an .exe file. All the other game trainers opened as they should. So, in the 'open with' context menu, I chose the game trainer .exe file to open the .exe file. Now, when I try to open, it just goes in a loop. I deleted the file but it didn't change anything. I tried deleting something in the registry, but a no go. How do I undo my stupidity?

Hi Guys, I have not found a good solution to this issue anywhere else. Was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this. Latest version of iCloud for Windows (as on 5/23/2020) creates multiple shortcuts for "iCloud Photos" in the navigation pane on Windows 10. Screenshot attached. Thanks, Mav

Hello. I recently changed all my hardware into a new case. It all went amazing and I also upgraded my stock CPU cooler to a Kraken x42. The problems that occured after I booted up is that my SSD's are multiplied in the explorer as USB Devices. I've also gotten the "Its safe to remove your usb" thingy. Is there any way to fix this? Does anyone else have this problem?

It is a weird bug to explain so I guess I will cut to the chase, every time I right click on the desktop and hover my mouse over "New," everything locks up besides external programs like Task Manager & Chrome. I've seen issues of this sort online and the recommendation was to edit the reg since windows broke with a dropbox app called "App Installer." I've cleaned my registry with CCleaner, and I still have this issue. An odd thing that worked is when I logged into my alt administrator account and attempted to make a new folder, the Windows Explorer didn't crash, so my guess is it isn't a registry issue or corrupted OS. Any idea, please?

So I have a bunch of USB drives, alot of them shows the popup that says that there is a problem with it and needs to be scanned to get it fixed. I did click that once with a drive and it formatted it so that I'll have to format it to use it again. (I have pretty much given up on that drive as some of IT peeps checked it and said its hard to recover or not possible, but if possible I would really want to recover the data.) Now it shows up on basically a bunch of my drives, what could be the cause of this? I don't have the same data across my drives, so I really couldn't pinpoint what is the cause of this. The drives vary in their content from videos, game files to powerpoints and documents.

I had to reinstall windows over this a few times. The windows explorer process was stuck at around 20% CPU usage all of the time. Even if I ran a stress test it wouldn't stop doing that. The memory usage would constantly climb for that process too. The one thing that I can remember being consistent when this has happened is that I enabled my memory overclock sometime before noticing it happening each time. It wouldn't start doing it right away, but it's one thing that's consistent between when it has happened and when it hasn't. The thing is that I've been extremely thorough about testing this memory overclock. I've run memtest86+ overnight, I've run HCI memtest, I've run prime95 blend, I've run prime95 custom to make sure all of the memory was being used, and I've run aida64. No issues, but this issue keeps coming back and every time it has, it was around the time where I enabled that overclock profile I setup. If I disabled it, it'd still keep doing it too. Does this sound like any issues you guys have encountered with memory overclocking?

Hello everyone, I know this probably sounds stupid but I rushed to upgrade my 4TB raid setup to 6 TB, and just swapped them without properly removing them. Now I have a bunch of shortcuts to a drive that no longer exists, and can't be removed via the delete option. (says drive cannot be located) How do I fix this dumb mistake I made?

Is there a way to flag as solved? Hello people of the forums! I'm looking for a piece of specific piece of syntax in windows search. I'm bulk downloading some things for a job I'm working on. However, there are a good few duplicates of what I am looking for. Now, downloading those with chrome or similar browsers will automatically rename to '[filename] (1).ext' with the little "(1)" at the end. Now my question is if there is a piece of syntax like "double quotes" in google to allow me to look specifically for the (1) string at the end of a file name? It will pick up other files with just a 1 anywhere in the title otherwise. Any other tips to bulk scan and remove of duplicate items would also be appreciated. Anything to make this job a little easier? Have a nice weekend! I'm using Win10 version 2004 or 2020, not sure which, but at least a recent one.

I'm running Windows 7 ultimate. Recently I noticed that sometimes when I create a new file with a program, windows explorer starts behaving strangely. It becomes unable to load any folder. Doesn't even load the My Computer data. All of the files can be opened with their respective programs, only the folder windows aren't showing anything. I scanned for viruses, deleted and replaced IconCache, ran system file checker and nothing proved effective. Have some of you experienced anything like this before?

I'm using Windows 10 Pro x64 1709 version. 1st issue: The icons on the taskbar blink/flash/flicker sometimes when a program is being installed, this has never happened before. I formatted the O.S. and installed the latest drivers, and it's still occurring. 2nd issue: While one is dragging a window and maximize it. In that moment, some annoying glitch (A black strange rectangle) can be spotted on the top right or bottom right corner of the screen as well this glitch is identified on installation wizard of some programs. The latest driver (Nvidia) is installed. I have a DELL (60Hz, 1600x900, as the main) and a LG (Running at 60Hz, 75Hz native, 1440x900) monitors both extended. 3rd issue: While the window is being dragging, during the process, the windows change its size automatically into a very small one (It's not a normal size). Windows has a very odd behaviors sometimes that I can't even understand. Greetings

Hey guys, my computer has recently been running really slow, I have 2 SSDs running RAID 0 by the bios not software, I also have a HDD 7200rpm 1TB. Windows is installed on the SSD as well as programs, games are installed on HDD, e.g (Steam on SSD, Dota 2 on HDD) Opening File explorer is sometimes slow to load, but the HDD clicking into a file takes its time, even when i'm running Skype and Chrome at the same time Disk is at 100%, I can't do anything, trying to open a program, SLOW! Wondering if anyone can help me out, I have tried the error check and it didn't fix the issue. Also chrome when downloading a program it is 5.6mb/5.6mb with 0 secs left and it takes a while to actually complete. Thanks! If you need further information just reply with what you need! EDIT: Could it be Windows 10 that is playing up, reinstalled many times using the media creation tool!

I'm using Windows 10 Pro and my folders are not opening, everytime I install a new program, it auto atribute the folders to open with that program, but now it's stuck on "Search...", if I right-click and select open, it works fine. Other extensions are not affected, only the folders. What should I do? Edit: Now it's saying that there's no program associated to that extension, and I have to install a program that reads.

Hey all it's been quite a while since I've posted here. It's heartening to see y'all are so lively after all this time Anyways...Sometimes when I turn on my PC windows explorer loads, but is almost completely unresponsive. While I can manage applications and snap works fine, the windows button, cortana, calendar and notification button will just make a clicking animation but not actually work. Restarting explorer with the restart feature as well as closing it and loading it back up only half-restart it, only loading the windows, cortana and notification button but whenever i mouse over explorer I get the loading/not responding circle. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Is there a fix or any suggestions? Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time -Jacob

Hey guys, I've had my current PC for about 10 months now, and at the start, everything worked perfectly. But now, for some reason, my Windows Explorer is crashing when I do certain things. It will crash when: - I try to rename multiple files - (sometimes) when I try to move multiple files to the other storage device - I try to play a large video file (through any application, VLC, Windows Media Player, QuickTime) - (sometimes) even when I open up a folder containing large files (such as a season of a television show) I uploaded a YouTube video (approx. 30 seconds) just to make sure everyone understands what my problem is. So, does anyone have any possible solutions for me to try? It would be gladly appreciated, thanks.
