Alright, full disclaimer, I don't mean to sound like an ass, and I'm at work so I am not going to be the best at formatting this and making sure of proper spelling/grammar, so please, excuse it. Something that is literally a day to day concern of mine is my bandwidth limit on my home internet, its bad, I have 200 mb/s speeds down and like 15 mb/s up with a 500 gb cap(very low imo) and I can't be bothered to buy into their higher caps cause they are just stupid expensive. My setup in my house, consists of 5 people, my girlfriend and my self each have a laptop, and a gaming pc, with a tv and an Xbox one. My Roommates collectively have pretty much the same stuff going on. However only one of them connects to my internet. Now, I understand if I am streaming in HD/4k bandwidth will be eaten up very quickly, but we don't, I keep my YouTube at like 360p and my Netflix is throttled via their website to the lowest possible setting, and it still just eats it up. I just simply don't understand these bandwidth caps? I don't know how to get it down, it just doesn't make any sense. Just a rant, I really don't mean to sound douchey, I know I'm just gonna have to put up the cash to upgrade to a higher bandwidth. It just drives me nuts. (side note I am a pretty techy guy, but not the best at this kind of stuff so I am going to avoid really specific terminology and arguing about the difference between megabit and megabyte like it always seems to come up in network talks, seriously, I don't care.)

TL;DR? How fast is ping with DSL vs cable? How fast is DSL ping? So I have recently moved into a friends place at an apartment. The building has a bundle plan for free TV channels from Comcast/Xfinity, so TV is free for everyone in the building. (Basically its worked into the rent). Internet however, must be payed for on your own. This is my room mates internet: This is how much is costs: What the fk. This is under their performance package that is supposed to be 25mb down and 5 up (capped). At a whopping $2.68 per Mbps. I have done all of the things, including replacing the modem/router combo and getting a new one. Xfinity says "Its a new problem is your area just the past few days, affecting the whole are" And that they want to send the technician that "reads the script" to our place to fix it. If that is true then why the f would the problem for the whole area be at my place? The problem is one of the following, poor quality/old cables in the walls, or the main line is over taxed, as we live on an island- causing the only connection to where we live to be used up by everyone that lives on the island. I'm so done with this company on every level. After looking for other internet in out area AT&T might be the way to go with DSL, but does its ping stack up to cable? They have a one year contract plan for $60-65 that is 45mb down and 6mp up. Only reason I'm not jumping at this is I am not familiar with DSL. Today I got a kraken x61 to cool my nice new 6700k, only problem I can't mount it in my spec 02 case. Ok sure good excuse for a new case, but wait they don't have the s340 in Stock, guess I'll grab the mastercase pro 3. Alright finally toted this awkward behemoth box home.... My system was having problems downloading off the stuffs off the internet, so I decided to do a format and clean install. After that, when ever I want to play something with VLC, it would first show the LTT Sleep is for pussies shirt pic and then start to play the content. I've tried clearing out the metadata which worked a bit, but then the pic comes back. I have no idea how did VLC even find that pic or even decided to use that pic. The only thing I've upgrade was my video card to a RTX 2070, but I was already using that card and before I even formatted it. How to get rid of this pussy? This is the pic VLC will always flash before playing

My PC is booting to bios and then no signal, my PC randomly crashed when playing metro 2033 and now it's only taking me to the bios screen and then I'm getting no signal

It's probably a one in a million issue but the last time I updated windows it made it so ethernet will not pass internet. It shows that I'm connected, says theres internet but cannot connect to anything. I have 2 ethernet ports with one connecting to my server for network storage and I tried swapping them. Obviously I change the metric so the priority is correct and it still won't give internet. Wifi still works atleast.... I'm going to check for new drivers and see if I can fix it but it's annoying. Windows update always breaks something for me....

I have this strange buzz in my audio with only one exception... when I'm touching my case with my flat hands... for each side of the case I touch it reduces more noise.. it only works when my hands are touching it flat not when I'm touching it with bare metal in my hands also works best when touching the points where air flow comes out... WTF Not to mention it gets WORSE when I put my display port cable against it...

Hello all, I am so confused about my current situation so in a last desperate attempt for to save myself I come to ask people that probably knowing about networking way more than I do. I followed this guide HUAWEI HG8546M Router as access point | Tom's Hardware Forum to use my second Huawei HG8245H router as a secondary access point so I get wifi in a closed room. At first it worked great! I had wifi enabled successfully in my room and all is well. A few minutes ago I tried connecting my first new device (my nintendo switch) to the network using my second router and oddly i couldn't. After a whole afternoon of it working perfectly I thought I had set a device limit and should increase it... And it goes to hell from here. So first i eliminate the first router from the equation and just concentrate on the second router, the one I'm using a a secondary access point. I realize that I cant do 10.0.0.1 to access the admin page. From what I know that should always work, but I had set previously a static ip as its part of the above tutorial. I tried that too and nothing. I start to freak out and i factory reset the device. I tried 10.0.0.1 again as its whats on the back of it as the default address... and nothing. Then I notice I have this as my wired network. Weirded out by it, I tried to run an ipconfig (as the default getaway should be address to access the admin page)... and it comes up empty. For some reason I decided to troubleshoot from windows and it returned this. But then, i turned on wifi and I notice i see my original router name on there, and I was able to log in successfully and actually enter the admin page again! I renamed and changed the password (name is claro-010) ... So here I am. I can access the admin page through wifi but ethernet seems to be completely dead for some reason I cant comprehend and I have no clue what to do about it. this is after a factory reset too. help!

So I got bored at home didn't really want to game because I had to be some where in a half hour, so... I started building my dream PC that I want, but then I got curious and decide to see what the cheapest build was on pcpartpicker.com. But I didn't really search very hard to get super cheap. All I did was sort each page to low to high and click the first thing in the list. If anyone buys this and builds it or has the parts and builds it, please tell me how sh*tty it is. Ok, this is interesting so get ready: Backstory: My mother's laptop (Toshiba Satellite P775D-S7215) was running quite slow so I decided to add an SSD (some transcend 256gb one I've had for years) and keep her 1TB WD Black in the second bay but even though her laptop had the space for a second hdd it didn't come with the required cable so I ordered one and while it was shipping I just connected the WB Black over a USB 3 to SATA+SATA Power adapter (It has all her documents, pictures, downloads, etc. on it so I pointed windows to the relevant folders and everything worked fine). Once the cable arrived I tried to move the WD Black to the second bay and the laptop would POST fine but doesn't boot windows (it just sits at the windows logo with the spinning loading symbol). Keep in mind it boots Linux (Manjaro) perfectly no matter what situation. tl;dr: Laptop posts but wont boot windows with certain HDDs in second bay. There are 2 bays (they will be refered to as bay 1 and bay 2 (bay 2 is the addon one with the cable) I tried 6 SSDs/HDDs, they will be referred to as follows: Transcend SSD - 256GB Transcend SSD (1.5A) SP SSD - 120GB SiliconPower SSD (Unknown, doesn't show rating on drive) Sandisk SSD - 250GB Sandisk SSD that I bought brand new yesterday for testing (1A) WD Black - 1TB WD Black that was in the laptop originally (800mA) Seagate HDD - 150GB Seagate HDD that was in my old Dell Latitude with 3 installs of windows on it (700mA) Xbox HDD - 60GB Seagate HDD from an old broken Xbox 360 (700mA) I've tried these positions and will show results: Bay 1 | Bay 2 | Result Transcend SSD | WD Black | Infinite Loading Symbol WD Black | Transcend SSD | Infinite Loading Symbol Sandisk SSD | WD Black | Infinite Loading Symbol WD Black | Sandisk SSD | Infinite Loading Symbol Transcend SSD | Sandisk SSD | Infinite Loading Symbol WD Black | SP SSD | Infinite Loading Symbol SP SSD | WD Black | Infinite Loading Symbol Xbox HDD | WD Black | Infinite Loading Symbol WD Black | Xbox HDD | Works Fine Seagate HDD | WD Black | Infinite Loading Symbol WD Black | Seagate HDD | Works Fine Nothing | WD Black | Infinite Loading Symbol Nothing | Sandisk SSD | Infinite Loading Symbol Nothing | Seagate HDD | Works Fine Sandisk SSD | Seagate HDD | Works Fine I probably tested other configs but you get the point, the only drives that work in the second bay is the Xbox and Seagate drives (the ones that pull 700mA) Another thing I should mention is everything works if there are NO PARTITIONS on it and it's all just allocated space, but If I try and format it in the windows setup it says "Windows could not format this drive" or something similar I tried an 1809 installer ISO I had, a brand new one I just downloaded via the media creation tool, and a 1709 ISO I also had, same issue. Edit: F*** Toshiba and their arbitrary BIOS lockouts (at least I assume that is the issue, I tried a low power wd blue and it didn't work but CONVENIENTLY the toshiba drives I had in raid in my laptop work perfectly

Ok, so I was gifted a 2tb Segate Barracuda hard drive for my birthday recently. I decided to pop it in my system. I plug everything in, making sure to leave the other 2 drives (120gb ssd, and 640gb hdd) in their exact same port as to not have a boot conflict. I hit the power button and all I get is my Aorus screen and a VGA debug led on my Aorus B450 Elite MB. The graphics card was never moved, touched, or uninstalled in any way. But if I unhook the 2tb drive and power it on, everything works like normal. So what's the deal?

I dont really know what's the cause od that, it overlaps with my cat spilling some beer on the monitor, but its doesnt seem like a screen issue. Now to exactly what is happening. When im playing a game, everything slows down, exactly like if you slowed time down, and then it speeds back up to catch up. It happens constantly and a whole cycle takes about 2-3 seconds. Help

Okay. weird bug. All of the sudden while trying to set up a Teamspeak server, my clipboard is being replaced with C:\Users\adenr\AppData\Local\Temp\PRODUCT_NAME_UNKNOWN_CrashDumpPRODUCT_VERSION_MAJOR_UNKNOWN-PRODUCT_VERSION_MINOR_UNKNOWN-2018-11-09--20-06-13_.dmp instead of what i had copied and randomly will work, seemingly regardless of what app i am using. Any help?

Chuck this in the "What kind of asshattery bullshit is this" bin. Some users have noticed that the Samsung Themes store displayed a pop-up message which tells them of a change in policy. It's speculated that this is a move to drive more theme sales, although Samsung has not commented on the move thus far. All we know so far is that on Android Oreo, free themes can be installed for however long you want but starting with Pie, you'll be limited to 2 weeks. I snagged up this Acer ET32QK monitor the other day and it finally arrived tonight. I've been messing around in the Nvidia control panel attempting to get her to 4K, 60Hz at 10bpc, and keep falling flat on my face... Originally, the stock DP cable it came with was having issues with the HDR setting on the monitor, and don't believe I managed to get a 10Bit signal at all with it. Assuming it was a bandwidth issue I decided to give one of my HDMI cables a go, and it worked! However there seems to be a few quirks, and I can't wrap my head around it. A) The color depth for YcBcR422 runs 4k at 60Hz at either, 8,10, or 12 bpc, but RGB appears to run at only either 8 or 12 bpc (at 30Hz....need a new cable I guess...) -Why dose the selection permit me to select either 12bit or 8bit, but not 10bit? Is this not an option? Am I missing something? Is not 12bit greater than 10bit? B) Would anyone be familiar to why the HDR profile on this monitor is greyed out while using DP at all? Seems rather odd...

So, the background of it is really long, but basically due to wide system corruption on my local plex vm, I had to migrate it to a new server, and decided that this time i will use deluge as my torrent client, and not utorrent... mind you that the system corruption has been going for about two to three months now, since a power outage, and i did anything in my ability to try and rescue the server itself for the last 3 months, so i did not really used utorrent... So, the way it was set up on my old server, and is still set up now is that I have plex running on my ubuntu server (moved to container of ubuntu this time, but still...), with utorrent (now deluge) client running as well, with pia socks5 proxy set up, for... security reasons... Anyways, I just finished migrating all the data and setting up the plex server, and wanted to test the new client, went to set it up and try a test download to make sure its all working and playing well with eachother, but the torrent wont run, it recognize the files, and just wont run! After debugging and googling for a while I decided to contact pia to see if they have a solution for running vpn on headless ubuntu server, after the 'agent' told me there is a problem with the socks5 proxy for about a month and a week now, and this was her reply!!!!!!! "Actual operating system"?!?!?!?! Please tell me I'm not just geeking out here and being insulted in behalf of linux.. Thanks, Sagi, advanced system administrator of not actual operating systems...

The Debug code is 'D-3' in my motherboards manual which says that "some of the architectural protocols are not available". What gives here? I have a Gigabyte X570 Auros Master. The rest of the specs are listed below in the 'signature' section.

I just got back from work and my pc did a quick update. then it loads and I see it, my wallpaper is a unicorn. nobody has access to my pc or my random password. anybody what this is lol?

What do I do? This folder needs to go. Cut and paste doesn't work, nor does deleting its parent folders or trying to change their security settings. *Note: it's not actually a floppy disk drive, it's detected wrong. It's a WD Gold HDD. I don't think that has anything to do with this issue, because every other file on there is fine.

Hey guys, i'm new here, so i will be quick. I upgraded to an amd 270 (specifically amd xfx 270 boost 925m,2gb,gddr5), install the correct drivers (previously uninstalling the old ones with DDU), and then my pc says that i have a generic 200 series drivers installed instead of a 270. I will drop a GPU-Z pic down here, anyone knows why this is happening? is this an error that will reduce my performance? is it possible to fix it?
