So the title pretty much says it all to be honest With this being the first time I can kinda splurge on a new tv, I'm wondering, Is it best to wait for CES announcements or get a new tv now while the "deals" are on? New / upgraded set for standard prices or grab a last gen tv at a slightly better price? Also can I get a 2023 set recommendation for a mid-end that has nice blacks but also vibrant colours? I'm stuck what to do but I'm 100% set on wanting an OLED some time soon. No idea if new OLED tech is coming out as this could completely change my decision (IE new tech = cheaper older sets)

Hi, has the team produced any content from CES yet?

Intel’s CES announcements weren’t just about the new Arc GPU, but it may just be the most exciting one thanks to its unique opportunity to shake up Nvidia and AMD’s hold on the market.
-
AMD’s Ryzen CPUs had some good times while Intel fell behind, but now that competition is back, how will they respond? Can Radeon GPUs keep up with Nvidia? And can you even buy any of it? Summary Samsung announced at CES 2021 that they would be allowing old Samsung devices to be reused as a variety of different IoT devices through SmartThings integration. Examples include: Baby monitor Ambient light trigger for lights (aimed at pets) XDA reports that Samsung has not shared specific details about timelines and what devices are included. My thoughts I can really get behind this initiative to reduce e-waste, really glad to see a huge manufacturer both recognise and act on this. This feeling is somewhat tempered by the lack of detail at the moment, from the video it looks tied to SmartThings, if this means the app is required the Play Store requirements state the following: I'm also hoping this isn't locked down too much and that it allows for community contribution. I use several old phones as clocks around my flat, they're perfect as they dim and brighten based on ambient light. Summary After the absolutely massive 25 kg beast that was the Thermaltake Tower 900, in June last year the company announced its little brother: the Tower 100 mini-ITX case. At CES 2021 they have now revealed it. No pricing has been announced yet, but a release date of "end of January" for the US and Canada are mentioned. It will be available in black and white and takes up 463x266x266 mm on your desk. It focusses on a ''vertical design'', as they say, to reduce its footprint and help heat extraction through a chimney effect. Quotes My thoughts Personally I really liked the Tower 900, but after considering it for a bit it was just too large and heavy for me. This shrunk down version of it makes it a much more considerable option for people I think, although in some aspects such as available fan space it might be a tad too small or offer too little for its size. I love the big open view the three glass panels give, and it's the first time I have seen a vertical GPU mount this way. They claim its verticality will have a chimney effect in removing heat from the chassis and I'm inclined to believe it may actually hold some ground. It's refreshing to see a case where the tempered glass does not obstruct the exhaust like e.g. in my Corsair 570X. On that same note however I'm a little worried/confused where it will get its supply of fresh air from and I don't see this as a particularly attractive option for watercooling (something I really hoped for when I saw it). I hope to be surprised and to see some cool loops attempted with it thought! Any thoughts on this? Sources TechpowerUp AnandTech Thermaltake product page

Thermaltake is preparing to release a new AIO (All In One) water cooling part that cools both CPU and RAM. All with plenty of RGB. Unlike a typical AIO cooler, with a radiator and a CPU block, this new loop goes from the radiator to the CPU to a RAM water-block, and back. According to PCGamer, According to the company's press release, the products will launch in Q3 2020 in 360mm and 240mm radiator variants, and include a 2 year warranty. On the plus side, having a single device for the RGB on one's CPU, two fans, and RAM could simplify RGB management, as the press release states the RGB can be Not sure who's demanding watercooled RAM, but time (and and benchmarks) will tell if the benefits are tangible.

Aside from showcasing phones, TVs, sensors, automated driving and other bits of tech, CES also seems to be a hot place for the launch of some new camera equipment. And it seems that the crowd-pleaser is the launch of the EOS-1DX Mark III, Canon's latest entry in the EOS 1-D line of flagship professional-oriented sports camera, aimed at photojournalists, sports and wildlife photographers. EOS-1DX Mark III There are some other big launches as well, notably Nikon's new D780 DSLR, an update to the brilliant-but-aging D750. Nikon D780 Aside from all the big guns, there were some other small announcements, which include but are not limited to; The unveiling of a physical Nikon D6 body but without any other information aside from that. The Nikon Coolpix P950 ultrasuperzoom bridge camera, now with 4K recording, an improved EVF and support for RAW files. The Nikkor Z 70-200 f/2.8S lens launch for $2600 and shipping in February alongside a Nikkor 120-300 F-Mount lens for $9500. Canon confirming that no new EF lenses are in development, with all new lenses being for RF "unless there is demand". Source(s); Opinion time;

https://www.cnet.com/news/meet-neon-the-artificial-human-startup-funded-by-samsung/ https://www.neon.life Neon is developed by Samsung Technology and Advanced Research Labs (STAR Labs) and is funded by Samsung. Very interesting. If what they say is true then this could open a whole new chapter in the history of artificial intelligence. So far a lot of the information is hidden, but still intriguing nontheless.

So got home and started to watch a video by pcworld https://youtu.be/9V_G7AvCIPc Link right smear^^^ As I was watching I noticed something if you take a look at the cpu ( now I'm by far an expert just started building as it so happens) but those look like traces that exactly match what would fit another 7nm chiplet or am I wrong? If correct and that being an 8 core 16 thread that means 16 cores if not at least 10 too 12 would possible right?. Anyway wanted to share my find.

My uncle and I shut down early for this? AMD's Ryzen 3 wasn't even a featured properly and nothing about navi. Showing thr half assed ryzen 3, 8 core 16thread that wasn't finished doesn't mean sqat and they didn't explain if it was a R5 or R7 model, that could have been the highest end for all we know. Vega 2 aka radeon 7 congrats on matching the rtx2080 now where's my navi architecture gpu ppl I want something like the 3080 for my 1440p at a reasonable price point. Such disappointment, at least show us the ryzen line up so ppl can feel a little satisfaction, but no proper announcements. Well they wasted their 1 chance to make Intel shit their pants at CES this year.

Apparently CES 2019 rescinded an award and blocked a company from showcasing the robotic Ose sex toy for women, further calling it vulgar, immoral, etc, yet in past and at the current CES they have allowed male focused sex products to be showcased and have given out awards to in the past (i.e. sex robots and toys for men, VR Porn for men, etc). Link to the original news story: https://venturebeat.com/2019/01/08/lora-dicarlo-says-ces-wrongly-rescinded-award-for-micro-robotic-sex-toy/ Link to one from the BBC (Caution: be a bit gender rhetoric heavy compared to the above link): https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-46809807 Overall, it sounds like some gender-bias to me, for them to allow male focused sex products at CES and have given awards for in the past years and still currently allow even this year in 2019 there's other sex toys and the usual VR porn demos at CES, however block a female focused product, even one whom the CES 2019 judges vetted/reviewed and were going to give an award to based on it's robotic tech, especially since it was made in partnership with Oregon State University's Robotics and Engineering department as this device uses innovative micro-robotic "mimicry" to mimic the feeling of various parts of the human body. This is something I think may be worth a mention on The WAN Show if there's one about news surrounding CES 2019. P.S. For those who think CES blocked this product simply because they want to not have adult products at CES anymore... this year's CES showcases a vibrator for men called Tentuo, company Naughty America is utilizing AR to overlay Stripper Poles into your environment along with "holographic" strippers to occupy those poles, there's an Apple Watch powered vibrator for ladies which a male partner has control over, then there's also the yearly showcased VR Porn booths/experiences, and one of the exhibitors were literally shuttling men off to one of the nearby legal vegas brothels for an Alexa/Amazon Echo powered porn experience. So in otherwords, if it's for males and made by males, it's A-OK at CES. A bit of insight to this year's sex toys at CES 2019: https://phys.org/news/2019-01-sex-toys-vegas-tech.html however there's a lot more begin shown at CES this year than what this article is focusing on.

Looks like next gen Ryzen won't be here for a while Bois The only info we really got was a Cinemark score of it competing with the i9 9900k, and beating it! It is confirmed that they will be 7nm so that's cool What do you guys think? I hope the leaks are still somewhat true Edit: I thought I posted this in tech news, Damned mobile

Hello. I copied my question a week ago below because people said that I should wait for CES because AMD could release new CPU's. They did now but as I heard its only for laptops. Qould you guys help me for my question below? thanks Hello, I currently have a Intel i5-4590 3.30 GHz on a MSI Z97-G43 motherboard and I think it is time to upgrade the CPU. I am thinking about buying one with 16 cores at a price range max. 350€/$ but I am not that much into PC tech so thats why I create this topic. 2. Should I wait for the CES because the CPU's gonna drop in price? 3. I proberly gonna need a new Mainboard if I buy a new CPU so could someone please find a good CPU and a fitting motherboard? (I think a AMD cpu would be the right choice but idk) 4. I recently bought new RAM so I now have DDR3 1600 2x4 & 1x8 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport. Do I need new RAM too or do RAM sticks not have diffrent plugs? I know its a bit much asked for but please help me Best Regards Daniel current specs (idk maybe its usefull) CPU: Intel i5-4590 3.30 GHz GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB Mainboard: MSI Z97-G43 RAM: DDR3 1600 2x4 & 1x8 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport Power Supply: 600W CoolerMaster B2

Reviews TL;DR/W : Performs about like a 1070 Ti (1-2% slower) at about the same price. My thoughts: Seems like a pretty good launch, nothing too exciting (no real innovation in terms of plain performance) but DLSS will be pretty neat once it comes out. At $400 it seems like a pretty good value, even better at $350, especially once DLSS support starts getting implemented

Nvidia has finally taken the wraps off of the RTX 2060. For just $349, they are advertizing that you will be able to play Battlefield V at medium RTX settings at 1440p at 60fps. The card is said to have 5 gigarays/sec and 6Gb of GDDR6 VRAM. They are also boasting about the high availability of the card.

after all the leaks we already had the last while, it should be time for some heapy news! as many know, CES is going to start on January 8th, and ther are many companies we might or are going to see some cool tech from. for today I'm focussing on Google and Amazon, assistant and to be more specific. they are competing heavily in the assistant side, and they are about to release some really cool products (or products made cooler by the use of assistant. They seem to have the same products, but who's going to make better use of the assistants? That's at (or after) CES to tell. here is a list of upcoming products. C by GE smart lighting (you'll need a additional hub for Alexa, apple home will arive down the line) D-Link Battery Wi-Fi Water Sensor (google home and apple home only) Kohler smart bathroom (come in different models for both Alexa and Google) Gourmia 11-in-1 Deluxe Multicooker (both google and alexa) Vuzix Blade (starts with alexa, will have google assistant down the line according to devs) Asus Lyra Voice (Alexa only) All of these products will be released, and the Kohler sounds really cool, a smart bathroom, but you'll have to burn some money for it... the other tech will be cheaper, but on some products the prices aren't availible yet. A fast overview of all products C by GE D-link sensors Kohler bathroom Gourmia 11-in-1 Deluxe Multicooker Vuzix Blade Asus Lyra voice Main sources: https://www.cnet.com/news/google-assistant-products-ces-2019-new/ and https://www.cnet.com/news/all-the-new-alexa-products-from-ces-2019/ more coverage of CES on Cnet: https://www.cnet.com/ces/ don't be to harsch on me, this is my first article

It's that time of year once again. CES Registration has finally opened and the countdown to CES has begun. As with every year's CES, show Alumni have until October 17th to register to receive free admission to next years show. This means that if you have attended CES in the past already you are an alumni and receive this benefit. If you are no longer working in the same job as you were previously or are outright no longer working in the industry, no worries; They keep your previous credential on file as proof of industry affiliation. The registration like every year is handled via compusystems and similarly you will be making a new account on the following registration link. Be sure to use the Email you previously registered with for your CES alumni status to carry over to 2019 registration. https://www.compusystems.com/servlet/AttendeeRegLoginServlet?evt_uid=256&TrackingCode=CESWEB&utm_source=CES&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=CESWEB See you on the floor in Vegas! https://ces.tech

Hi I was interested in the LG 43UD79-B monitor but was hoping this year would see an updated version with HDR as I wish to get a display I can use for pc and game consoles. Has there been any similar monitor announced at CES the covererage of CES has not been that good this year as to me most youtubers have been covering the same tech which I think is kind of pointless if you see a product on one channel your not going to sit through another review on another channel. The Asus BFGD looks out of my price range and I am not interested in a 65" version unless they make a 43" version but have not seen much info on range of display sizes that will be available. Has anybody seen something similar to the 43UD79-B? Thanks for the reply.

Haven't seen a general CES discussion thread for this yet, so thought why not start one. With CES over for another year & most videos & articles have now stopped flowing from the publications. I figured why not have a discussion about what our favourite tech from this years show was! So let's get to it! For me, I really liked Vivo's under the screen fingerprint reader. I'm hoping we'll start to see it in the near future on the mainstream Androids & hopefully Apple can get their act together & get something like that on a future iPhone, I wouldn't even say next year but hopefully by 2020. Also, as lame as it sounds, I am really excited for the wireless K63 from Corsair, if only it came with RGB & Cherry MX Blues though. I still am probably going to buy it, as I am sick of all the cables across my desk & no real solution to route them neatly. Notable mentions for me: -LG's rollable OLED TV, that was awesome & I liked how you could use it at certain heights for different aspect ratios etc. A shame it would be way out of my price range though. -Silverstone Mini-STX RVZ04 even though it will never come to market as it seems like Mini-STX is about almost dead. -@CableMod's pro cables, I wasn't sure about them when seeing the option on the website when creating custom length cables, but after seeing @bitwit's video, i'm sold, they look amazing. -Toshiba RC100 M.2 NVME SSD, being only 42mm long is awesome. Saying that I'm still amazed both of my M.2 SSD's are the size of my name badges for work.. -mATX TR4, I love small formfactor, so seeing something as massive as a Threadripper CPU on a Micro ATX board is fascinating to me. It would be cool to see an ITX variant, but I have a feeling that will never happen due to the sheer size of the CPU. I've probably forgotten about some neat stuff, but that mostly sums it up for me. What about the rest of you?

I would find it really interesting, if Brandon would talk about the camera setup he uses for the CES 2018 show coverage and for example Taran about how the editing is done for CES (little bonus would be - if Taran can still cut videos without using at least 3 keyboards)
