Being it seems that my computer hobby is the least expensive of what keeps me busy outside of work.  My fair weather/weekend car.  1987 Buick Grand National.  65k original miles.  Got it repainted a little less than 2 years ago.  Engine & drivetrain are almost stock, 275hp 400ftlb at the tires.

    So,

    New bike
    Bought a 1984 GSX750ES last night!

Has problems, but I already solved the one that I expected to be a pain; the leaking fork leg. Just used a cut to size laptop privacy filter to make a DIY forkbuddy, cleaned out the oil seal, and now it does not seem to be leaking anymore!

The next problem is the fuel tank, its full of rust. Very easy to remove off the bike so I'll clean that out and coat it. The petcock is stuck too so I might replace that while I am at it, it's like €50 for a new one.

One of the rear indicators is held on by tape, headlight glass has a small hole in it, intake rubbers might need replacing but I'm not sure, carbs might need a cleaning/rebuild but not sure. Going to do tires and fluids before summer 2021

The good stuff is that the brake rotors, brake hoses and fluids seem to have been replaced very recently and seemingly by OEM parts. The exhaust is aftermarket 4 into 1, sounds and looks great. The seat has been reclad at least once and is in decent condition. Basically all electronics besides the killswitch on the side stand seem to be in good nic. Only a small amount of surface rust in a couple of places. Sprockets and chain are in good condition but chain needs a clean and relube probably.

86000km on the meter, paid €510
    Oh
yah and the battery is sideways for some reason

I tried to put together a short video about my Audi.

I think it turned out okayish.

I have done a little bit of photography before but never tried recording yet video editing.

I have to say it was way more fun than I had expected, recording and trying to edit it.

On my R33 this week, Tein Flex Z's raised up approx 1" in the front and rear for better wheel fitment.
Also installed a CUBE Speed Shortshifter kit and centering springs, and got my JDM Plates fitted.

Next week will be new Rota Grid (18x9.5) and tyres. Also have a new bonnet stops, carbon fiber radiator cooling plate and GT-R oil catch & washer tank on the way.
Need to start polishing up the headlights to see if I can save them for a Bi-Xenon & Demoneye retrofit.

Need to price up fitting side skirts, front lip and respray (look at those stone chips on the front!) later in the year.
I'm also considering having a go at spraying the kit at home

I have gotten the brass gears for the mmi display, I have put everything back together and it works great.

I only had 2 bolts left when I was done, I have no idea where they are supposed to be lol.

    Don't mind that its dirty.

The MMI screen is in closed position.

    MMI in opened position.

The next issue is the battery drain, I'll do some testing, maybe that the system couldn't go into sleep mode because of that bad control module.

Hi I'm a Newbie here!  I'm a busy fellow who spends most of his life building Hot Rod Cars and my Trucks.  Although I don't spend a lot of time gaming these days I'll always be into gaming, PC construction, etc.  I also follow basketball, boxing, MMA.  I also like Beer,  Bourbon Lagers, Coffee & Chocolate Stouts, Imperial Stouts, Bourbon Stouts, Vanilla Porters, etc.  I also enjoy trees. ?

Naturally, I've gotten here because Linus is the man.  Quite the visionary with his endless and often very entertaining content.  I imagine a community built on this would be a groovy place with groovy people.

I only intend to post when I have something useful to add to the discussion, or if I need real help/suggestions.  My Display name is my favorite gaming name/persona to use. (Jedi Academy) ?

I'm running a 6 year old basic AMD FX build, on a 42" tv, with plans to upgrade everything perhaps in a few years, once I move my biz to another state in the country.  It might happen sooner, who knows.  Just started using Linux and I'm enjoying it for sure, gonna use Linux for my internet surfing, and cling to Win7U for now for things that don't work easily in Linux.  The video quality somehow looks better in Linux.  In fact this weekend I'm planning to watch the Big Heavyweight fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury on Linux, streaming the PPV feed.  Fantastic first event to view on Linux.

    Peace!  ?

Long time no post, I finally did some serious troubleshooting about the electrical problems in my dirt cheap A8.

A short recap about the car, I bought it for a steal, it was overheating and there was battery drain and the Sound/radio/nav screen did not work.
The overheating issue was a bad hydraulic tensioner on the timing belt making the water pump not spin, I changed that and it runs and drives very good mechanically.

Using scan tool to scan the optical bus and using "loops" I could isolate one unit to be broken, the media head unit.
I also did a normal scan and got a few codes like the rear right door control unit was also  broken, it could not be reached.

I pulled the interior to get access to the head unit, while I was in there i removed the MMI screen to change some plastic cogs out for brass ones as they usually break.

I opened up the head unit and it was water damaged, I did some research and found an untested unit in Norway for 1/5 of the prices on ebay and in Sweden.

Plugged that in and everything started to work I had expected it not to work or at least going to Audi dealer to remove component protection but it just worked

I also changed the rear right door control unit it was so easy, pop the door panel off, and then there it was unplug and plug in the new one.

I'll get the brass cogs next week and I'll be putting everything back together then.

This was the first drag car we built. It started life as a 1974 VW Type 4. We built a complete tube chassis, ford 9", 355cu SBC on alky, powerglide Transmission, Ron's Flying Toilet, MSD 6al ignition and full aluminum interior. My brother and I ended up working at the drag strips more than racing the car. (one of two jobs thru college)

Back then we had a friend that let us borrow a JD2 tubing bender and I was in college learning how to run Lathes and mills so if we needed anything made I just had to supply the material.

This is the throttle pedal I have been working on. I'm switching over to a mechanical linkage for safety reasons.

I'm really not into my old hobbies I use to be. I hope to sale all of this stuff, I don't want my wife to be stuck with this if something happens to me. I keep telling myself to just finish the truck and get some enjoyment out of it but I'm having a hard time getting myself out in the shop. We had to sell my Dailey Driver so until I get this thing running I don't have a vehicle! That's unless my wife is off work.

I made a purchase yesterday too, got rid of my snap on box because we've had a revolving door with snap on vendors and they charge 5 dollars per payment "courtesy fee" to pay credit online.

I'm new here but have been into vehicles and racing my entire life. Thought I would share some pictures and spec's of my current on going project. I have built a couple of drag cars and engines. I really only know how to build 385 series Fords. I use to run 460ford and 429-460ford forum for the longest.

Current project: 1984 Ford F150, regular cab, 4x4. It came with a inline 6 cylinder and NP435 manual transmission. I am currently performing a engine and transmission swap.
    Engine: light 528cu BBF 680hp680ftlb on 91octane
Transmission: C6, manual valve body, fully rollerized, transbrake (rated for 1,200hp)
Transfer case: Billet aluminum quick change
    Gear ratios: 4;30
    Tires: 31x10.5r15
I built the engine back in 2015 but started working a new job that kept me away from life and now I regret spending the money. My goal right now is to complete the project so I can get a little something out of it. (Its been a pain working on things since I lost one of my eyes!! I hit my head a lot and have zero depth perception. I use to be able to just look at the head of a bolt and know what size wrench or socket I needed. Fabrication is a lot harder as well, I use to be able to hold something with one hand and figure how big a bracket would need to be!! NOT NO MORE!! LoL

I have been working on a throttle pedal bracket for weeks now. I just get so dang frustrated!
