Windoors reacted to Bombastinator in Blue light filter is actually bad for you, new study shows
“Studies” have problems though I’m more likely to trust one out of the EU than the US. Any claim of health benefit from a study needs to be looked at very closely. Who funded the study is a big one. What were the actual findings of the study? How was the study done and why? The devil tends to be in the details with these and the details tend to get glossed over. There’s too much money and therefore too much marketing involved.

Windoors reacted to rolo1 in 1st Build - Noob needs Help
Hey man, thanks a lot, I appreciate the time you put into this. I searched for the components you changed with my local distributor but seems like some of them are out of stock or not listed. I should have stated the limitations of my country's distributor. Will try to find them somewhere else.

If not, wait for a while, or if you need if super urgently, get a used CPU and upgrade later. You could later sell the used CPU. Look for local deals and you might even be able to earn some money.

Windoors reacted to Cpaz in Final build! - Thoughts?
Personally, I think you might be overdoing it with the corsair ram. You can find G Skill memory for almost half the price for the same config (including voltage)
Here's what I'm referring to on pcpartpicker.

Of course, there is the question of brand reliability, but I've had good luck with G Skill so far.
Best of luck!

STAY AWAY FROM THAT INTEL SSD
it’s qlc and you’re gonna have a horrible time
edit: back from vomiting up the thought of someone buying an intel 660p, essentially it’s slower than a hard drive. If you want a proper nvme, spend the extra money

What’s your budget? If there’s no budget Imma just add the $10k nvidia quadro and call it a day

Windoors reacted to Jumballi in Recommendations needed by the software...
@Juular from the context this guy is giving, he might be a professional, and for professionals, time is money, so even if the 3600 works pretty good, they might benefit exceptionally from those few seconds shaved off. Hence why I asked for the budget, if they got cash to burn and need an ultra powerful computer for work...

Windoors reacted to nour999 in Tech Scams
An idea for a new sub forum : Tech scams
We all get bombarded by lots of them everyday usually. and they seem to have lots of new ways to jebait people other than the good old 'Nigerian scam'. just finished reading a book about the scammers and how they operate. apparently they work in groups and they share all their assets together lots of them based out of southern Africa. so why not do the same, and start our own little sub forum where we disscus what methods they use. and we all will become a little more educated about the scams

Clean the dust out. Maybe repaste or liquid metal the CPU and GPU. Create more aggressive fan curves

Windoors reacted to levi_athan1701 in switching windows 10 to SSD instead of HDD
You can use EaseUS Partition Master to migrate / move the OS to the new drive. Afterwards, just change the boot order in your BIOS.

Windoors reacted to porina in Reduce laptop performance to reduce overheat
If you run MSI Afterburner (or other GPU overclocking software) you can lower the power and/or thermal limits which could help there.
Similarly you can see if Intel XTU will let you do similar for the CPU. I think a power and/or thermal limit is a better way to go than clock reduction as you still get close to peak performance under less intense workloads. Voltage reduction is something that seems popular amongst some enthusiasts but personally I'm too lazy to do that kind of stability testing.
