If you are not in a hurry, you could check eBay.  Sometime they have very good prices on ram new and used.

What size motherboard fits the case? Honestly, you can get cases for $20; if it's a non-standard size, or if you need to do some jank stuff to make it fit, I'd just find the extra $20 for a proper case. Mini-ATX isn't a thing. Do you mean micro ATX? Don't go for ITX, they're not budget friendly.

Honestly, I'd try and find an older i5, or spend on a newer i3 and find them on eBay.

If you have a boot drive already, I'd suggest something like a R3 3100/3300X, paired with like an ASRock B450M PRO4, solid board, solid chip for everyday use. Or if you can get a good deal on a 2600X, the extra threads will be helpful and about the same performance of the 3100.

You might also want to check out compressor for airbrushes, quality ones hold up for years. you can modify the configuration to have a air nozzle to clean out computer, and they run on house current.   Who know you might want to learn how to airbrush and customize computer cases.

I thought I share three different versions of Popcorn.  Something I like from my early teen years to now.

This version was made in 1969.

This version came out in 1972 the one we are most familiar with. In a way it is the original music, it is an updated version by Gershon Kingsley who it the author of the 1969 version too.

This one's for fun from the Muppets.

Thank You Turtle Rig, looks like quite a bit of consistency here which I really like in these suggestions.  It gives me a strong direction in looking for the best parts for my build.

You took the words right out of my mouth.  Beautifully said Firewrath9.  It will def be a fun time building it but don't expect it to go to the moon.  For that you will need a much more powerful system which I guess your saving up to get.

I've always wanted to try a 390X, you think it could beat a 1060? I know they were pretty good cards when they released.

Given it's 3rd gen intel hardware, I would suggest something like a 16gb kit of DDR3 1333Mhz. I don't have any references where to look because I never needed to buy any. Just make sure you get 2 MATCHING sticks (same speed, same capacity, same timings, and ideally same manufacturer)

For a PSU, I would go around 500 watts, and I would definitely buy a new one from a reliable manufacturer. You don't want your PSU to die and take your system with it, and even worse burn your house down. A new one from a good brand would cut back that chance. I personally have always used EVGA PSU's (yes they exist) but I know Corsair makes good ones too.

For a GPU, I would go with a mid-range GPU from a couple generations ago or a new entry level card. Like a GTX 970 or GTX 1050Ti. Make sure not to get scammed if you go on ebay

    Cases are entirely personal preference.

prob 1600 or 1866mhz ddr3, just find a cheap 2x8 kit on ebay. should be around 30$
As for power supply, a CX550m is 60$ on amazon.
A 7970/280/380 (or x versions) are good for the price, as are gtx 960 and 970.
A little more high end are used 1070s and 980 tis
