There's ways to make it happen. There's a service offered by a company that would aggregate the links and allow you to use the combined bandwidth but I don't know if it's offered in the UK. Or if it can even be used on DSL connections.
There's other ways it could be aggregated but you'd only see the benefits if you have multiple running clients.

PCIe drives are no better than SATA as a boot device. Add another SSD for games maybe, but not as an OS drive. That's wasting money and space.

@saur0 I highly recommend adjusting BCLK up. Most X58 enthusiast boards will happily do BCLK in the realm of 200 MHz or more.

This does two things: raises the memory as well as raises the uncore, which affects the cache and other architectural things. The higher BCLK results in a snappier system than higher multiplier does.

My Xeon has been running at 4.5-4.7 GHz stable, on an AIO cooler, for over a year, with the 21 multiplier x 215 BCLK. No issues with system stability or weirdness from BCLK-- on X58 specifically, BCLK is decoupled from PCI bus; on newer chipsets this is not true and that's when issues arise.

General rules, if you don't go looking in the handy X58 thread here: on Gulftown/Westmere set the Uncore as 1.5x memory multiplier, don't exceed 1.35V on QPI/VTT for long, and try to keep < 1.4V vcore.

I've posted a few OC guides specifically for X58 previously in the X58 thread.

You probably need to set Ai Overclock Tuner to MANUAL to be able to increase the bclk. I've only bclk overclocked a Xeon X5670 on my P6X58D-E so I'm not sure how different it's from those unlocked i7s.

Currently I have my X5670 overclocked to 4.32GHz with 1.35V.

    I'd recommend checking this thread:

damn that is a nice machine. me wants!

but yeah you can play around with voltage and stuff but honestly i wouldn't risk it. once you do that heat output and power consumption will rise significantly. and it will shorten the lifespan of the system.

base clock is not a great idea because as LTT has shown in the past if you adjust it you throw a number fo different things into confusion too, which can make the system unstable very quickly.

that system at 4.2ghz is already an absolute beast for it's age and not a bottleneck in gaming at all with that gpu.

The Maximize 3d performance is the "SLI" settingand it is enabled. That makes me think that Kombuster isn't supporting the dual GPU setup. After doing a bit of reading, it looks like it you have have to run it in full screen but that may not work either. I would find a game with known SLI support and try that.

this is going to blow your mind but yeah , it still uses sli to run two gpu's

again if you aren't using an sli enabled program then gpu 2 isn't going to do anything

I've had around 40 filters in gmail (still use filters in Inbox) but for most non "categorizable" stuff which should be in inbox I can either finish it, snooze it or work on it. And then it's empty.   It just worked.

saur0 reacted to Frankenburger in 1080 Ti SLI or RTX 2080 Ti Single?
In all fairness, the 2080Ti has a MSRP of $1200 USD, which is about 1030EUR. I guarantee that custom model 2080Ti's won't sell for less than $1300 USD at best.

It's more the fact that the 2080 is confirmed to be about 50% faster than a 1080 (without DLSS) that makes the pricing absurd. I can't imagine the 2080Ti being more than 50% than the 1080Ti either. Early adopter fees and lack of competition is real this generation.

Dual 1080Ti's are good for up to 5k without much compromise. 4k is where 1080Ti's start scaling well.

    Wait for benchmarks.

1080Ti SLI will almost certainly out perform the 2080 Ti in most of the games that matter. Whether or not those are the games you play is a different story. Are you ok with getting your hands dirty with driver settings? Are you ok with not all games using the 2nd GPU? There's a few things to consider with SLI before jumping in, but if you have the gusto, you  might find it worth while.

SLI is NEVER worth it. The 2080ti is going to be double the price, for more then likely 20-35% performance boost. Still not the best value.

Is your 1080ti not performing well in games? What is your monitor?

Looking at your PCPartpicker list you spent a absolute fuckton of fans and other crap you didnt need for that system lol

Here's a pretty modest system build. I chose the 8086k because it's only ~$50 more expensive than the 8700k and it's basically a binned chip. 100% chance of hitting 5GHz all core at reasonable voltage.

Based on the described usage it seems pretty clear that at present the i7-8700K would be the optimal choice. In gaming an lightly threaded applications like Photoshop it offers the highest performance. Really the only use in which a different cpu might be better is video editing. Even there, the i7-8700K will be fine for light usage.
