Hi all hopefully this is the right thread.  I have a problem running F@H any help would be great. it seems to have frozen in this state.

    Thanks Guys

Try restarting whole PC. Otherwise if that doesn't work, I'd try reinstalling F@H with newest version available.

It looks to me like you just ran folding at home control panel but not the app.

    @LAR_Systems

on my main system, the PPD is not correct for my second GPU.

it's only displaying 200K, while the GPU is doing over 2M. i feel like this may skew the PPD comparison list somewhat.

what should i do about this?

What you think is PPD of second card is actually estimate for the WU of SELECTED GPU before QRB. Once you select other/second GPU, you can see what PPD on it is.

Everything is working fine, do not worry, you are just not used to web UI. :)

I know these points don't count toward the event, but it still feels nice :) On a side note I know this isn't an overclocker thread, and I'm not an very educated outside of what I've learned from watching LTT, but would something like throttle stop help beyond what I get from using afterburner and ryzen master pbo?

Not really sure what you are asking here, but if you are asking if it will throttle your PC? Yes, it probably will if you are folding on both CPU and GPU.

Tho, you can game and GPU fold w/o any real loss of FPS on most of GPUs. CPU is a different story.

I just signed up.  Not a super fast machine but I keep chugging along.

I started folding long ago because my wife passed away and I wanted to fight what took her life.

I see that you are folding for Team AnandTech which is good too, but folding for LTT is a tiny bit better ;) .

But seriously, if you want to be a part of Folding Month and be on daily leaderboard once event starts (AND BE ELIGABLE to win prices), you will have to change teams and sign up for the folding month (you can find the link in first post).

I thank you so much! You've provided me with a lot of help! :D (used paint, you get the point). So let it run to the finish line and then i'll be sure to maximize "profit", got it!

No problem! Yeah, I know it was paint :D. Try using Snipping Tool next time, it's much easier.

Also, if someone has genuinely helped you out don't forget to drop a reaction on their posts.

This is what i usually get? Am i doing something wrong? The log always says success. So they can't be failing?

Yes, that is normal since you already "stopped" = paused your WU multiple times. It got assigned to you 18.09.2020. at 5 AM and it's 19.09.2020. 2 AM if I am reading your (very bad cut tho ;) ) clock right. That means that QRB has dropped a lot since you haven't finished and reported THAT WU ASAP.

If you want to maximise your PPD, then ALWAYS let each WU finish before turning your PC off. As that will give you best QRB and most PPD. However, if you do not care about virtual points, then just fold away any way you want as long as you finish WUs before deadline (expiration for that WU specifically assigned to you is 23.09.2020.).

I do have it running over night. Think it takes about 2 WU, then i stop the folding once i wake up again. As in "stop" and not "finish"

WUs vary in size and therefore time needed for folding each one. Some can take 45min, some can take up to 5 hours (talking about GPU WUs), depending on many factors, but size and complexity of WU is biggest factor. As I already said above, I'd recommend you to use Finish button instead of Stop if you can.

Hi. I was marked as folding username not found but I am here - https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/Roo_Inner

Could be that there was no such username when you registered (and you didn't yet finish a WU) and now there is the name as you finished 9 WUs. That note should be corrected. Seems that you did everything right, it's just that some systems are slow to recognize.

Fastest way to fold? Like. How do i get the most points possible? Running i9-9900KF and 2070S but get 100k est per day? Is that really normal? (going by 6 cpu and full speed gpu)

Your passkey still hasn't kicked in yet then if you even requested one. 2070 should be 1M+ IIRC.

CPU won't get you more than 100-200k but it's good to fold with it too as there are some WUs which are only for CPU.

Fastest way to get A LOT of points is to use cloud folding or buy best GPU (soon to be 3080/3090) or now cheap 2080/2080S/2080Ti used.

@Favebook Would running my system on this power supply be okay for the folding tasks.

    Specs- Ryzen 5 3600

    gtx 1660 super

    B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

This is the power supply- https://www.microcenter.com/product/485311/powerspec-550-watt-80-plus-bronze-atx-non-modular-power-supply

Everyone was saying how this is a cheap tier D power supply and I should return it. But I am already past the 30 day return policy so I can’t.

It will be fine. But I'd suggest you selling that PSU on open market for 80% of what you paid (ore more if possible) and then buying a new, better one.

I wouldn't be worried about it bursting in flames any time soon, but it's better to have a good PSU than to think about it when you go to sleep.

I had really good luck in my country where I bought a lot of 800-1600W PSUs when mining craze was at it's lowest, and when PSU shortage hit few months ago, I sold them for almost 1.5x the price I paid.

Oh okay, I just saw some pictures of the windows GUI and saw that some of the lists to do. One said 3.5 hours and the other said like 13.5 hours. Let’s say I start running the 3 hour one. Will I be able to use the pc during the time or not??

Yes, you are able to pause the work units and give a bit of rest to your computer (not that it needs anyway if airflow is good).

And what you saw is estimated time to finish for specific work units.

You have a deadline which is usually 3 days and sometimes up to 7 or even 14 days for some work units.

You should read the thread that was posted few messages back and some tutorials from F@H or/and on youtube.

After you go through FAQ, thread with installation help and tutorials on YT, feel free to ask anything. But you will get the most answers in links above and from the thread mentioned by @marknd59.

It won't "damage" anything, but it will of course sustain more wear than regular use

GPUs and CPUs are made to be used, not stored. "Sustain more wear than regular use" is like believing GPU mining will damage the GPUs which is not true. GPU mining with bad settings and high temperatures can damage the GPUs, same goes for CPUs. And same can be said for Folding. But if you keep your temps at reasonable level, you won't notice "more wear than regular use" even after those units become obsolete.

Therefore, @Kanna, just check your temps from time to time, fold away and do not worry about such stuff. If your GPU/CPU survived all the gaming and other tasks, Folding will not hurt it any more than that, unless you start pushing the limits with hard OC and overvoltage. I recommend power limiting your GPUs as they will draw much less power, produce much less heat and lose only 5-10% PPD.

~75% PL on all my cards so far has been the sweet spot. Overclocking will not bring you much PPD but it will bring more heat and power draw.

How often does EOC update their colo(u)r scale?  I'd be surprised if users in the 00's hit anywhere near the 2m+ mark, and I'm curious if the release of the 3xxx series will be a likely driver to update it.

Never afaik. You could write them/him a mail as feedback. They guy who is behind it is really active and takes really good care of it. He even has regular updates for bug fixes and from time to time new features.

Oh no Nvidia are out producing us. I think they are cheating and using new 3000's cards before anyone else has them.

Hardly possible, unless they consulted and gave samples to F@H so they can make it work. Not sure if you remember but newer AMD cards couldn't fold for quite some time after release...
