With bad sectors... well you have 2 options IMO.
    1. Just boot into OS and copy files you need first. Reinstalling OS and stuff might be a pain, but actual unrecoverable info is always more valuable.
    2. Use ddrescue. It is one of the best if not the best tool for the job.

Do not run checkdisk before the data is safe on other device. You are right to be scared, it might fix stuff or it might destroy it.

For some time i wanted to replace a drive in my laptop. I take up 200GBs of space on a 700GB disc so I bought a 256GB SSD. I thought I'll jus run Macrium Reflect cloning and it will go smoothly, but the process always stops at 37% even though the connection is secure and there is no antivirus enabled. I tried to check the sectors using EaseUS partition master and it showed 2 bad sectors. I cannot use EaseUS disk copy because I can't resize partitions in this program. I know i could run CHKDSK but im extremely scared it will damage the drive and destroy my windows copy and all the important files.   What do you think I should do?   I'm scared i can't do anything. If I don't run CHKDSK i will not be able to copy the disc files, but if I do there is a chance I'll lose everything.   Is there a solution I can't see? Maybe I could copy the contents of the drive onto the new one some other, safe way.

It creates full image of hdd skipping bad blocks. It is relatively safe, does not write anything to disk at all, but working with damaged hdd can always damage it further, no way around it.
As for how to use - boot in some linux live cd, this should work. Have enough space to store the image somewhere. The tool is commandline, you can read the manual here.

I'm in front of a screen most of the day (IT). I keep night light on in Windows all day and that helps a little but not much for me. Just ordered some 'Blockz' from Zenni optical (their version of blue light blocking lenses). I'll update here if you're interested once they arrive and I give them a go.

As a side note, my Dell gaming monitor does have a 'comfort view' mode that I use that does seem to help particularly at night. Not sure exactly what is being done here but just wanted to mention it.

Also, at Night light settings, you can adjust how much yellowish you want your screen to be.

If you are using Windows 10, you should be able to turn on the night light, which reduce blue light emission considerably. Go to Windows Settings -> System, and you should immediately land on display page. Here, turn on the night light and you are good to go.

*Note: This will turn your screen yellowish or sepia.

I have them on my current glasses. Not sure I would get them again. They make EVERYTHING look like you have a sepia filter on.

But then I have to wear glasses all the time - if it was literally just computer use... maybe. In not convinced they are any more effective than an anti reflective coating.

Hi everyone, wasn't sure if anyone posted a topic for this yet. Head over to UFD tech on YouTube and help at their GoFundMe if you are able. They are going through an incredibly rough time. Great Techtuber and incredible family. Kyle over at BitWit has already donated too.

This was sad news. I've been a subscriber to UFD Tech for a good while now and it's Brett who I copied the "Papa Linus" from as well. This whole thing must have been a serious gut-punch to the whole team -- to Brett, because he feels responsible for his team, and to the rest of the team because they have no idea if they'll have a job for long.

Though, obviously, their kid's situation itself is the saddest part of all this and I can definitely understand Brett and his wife being willing to do anything to help the kid.

They're going to talk about it in the WAN show for sure, I've also contacted Linus, Luke and the forum admins to see what could be done on the forum

EDIT : But if we're going to post links to help them, that's going to be an exception since we don't allow for "charity request" on the forum.

Have you seen a recent TN panel? The quality issue only really comes down to the viewing angles at this point, I mean sure I wouldn't use it for professional video editing but, each technology really, is slowly ironing out their inherent flaws. At this point, each of the 3 LCD types can be solid options for their intended audiences: TNs for people who need fast response times for FPSs and the like (assuming the panel itself is of good quality;) VAs for people who want exceptional contrast ratio and a decent panel for prosumer video/image editing and even light gaming duty; and IPS for people who demand perfect on-point color accuracy for professional applications and even now they are good for exceptional gaming experiences (again assuming that the panel is of a high quality.)

No, OLEDs are not practical at this point in time and why would you purchase a dead technology (plasma), it's dead for a reason. And finally, like plasma, CRTs are dead and gone for a reason, the technology has been replaced by much better alternatives. Believe me, I tried gaming on a CRT with my old gaming machine (~2009) and the experience was far outmatched by even a decent TN LCD even back then.

Just to pitch in, I got the VAST ultrawide 100hz monitor, and while it's not a dealbreaker, I personally find the ghosting quite distracting compared to my old 144hz TN panel. In fairness however, it's a new panel, by a new company, on a newish technology, and it's definitely on the cheap end of the spectrum. From the posts on Massdrop, it seems either it's less noticeable to some, or perhaps some of the panels are better than others in that batch, so if you're going with a trusted brand, it'll might be less noticeable. That's my 2 cents.

TL;DR: You'll probably like it, but don't be afraid to return it if you don't.

Alright, so I received the MSI MAG27CQ. All I have to say is why isn't this panel more popular? I am blown away. Quality control is good, not a single dead pixel, no light bleed, perfect. Incredible response times, deep inky blacks (VA panel), and beautiful in every way. I love it and switching from my daily driver 1080p 24" to this has been well worth it. Thank you again, everyone. I am seriously considering doing a review of it simply because more people should know more about this excellent panel!

Thank you so much for the link! I actually ended up joining a MassDrop for the MSI MAG27CQ. Was able to get VA, 2K, 144Hz at 27 inches for 379.99 USD. I can't wait to get it!

Thank you again, everyone, for all your help.

Appreciate you letting us know about this.

    27 1440p 16:9 is fab.

The only reason I went to 32 1440p 16:9 is my eye sight. I am old, and whilst not a great player I am competitive. I play Squad mostly and that demands the ability to spot and shoot at range. Everything is a bit bigger on my screen.

I had this screen for a good while:
    https://www.asus.com/uk/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG278QR/

It's a fantastic screen, I also saw the IPS version and it is also marvellous.

Personally if I were you I would go 27 1440p, I don't know anyone else with my screen format - a few mates have ultrawides but thats a different thing really. Things arn't bigger, just more stuff on the sides (not for me).
