I mean, theoretically it could but I've never heard of it happening and getting quiet would not be the major symptom of this. If you think you have, however, destroyed the electret element there should be no problem with swapping it for another element of the same rating.

Ribbon cable connects there, maybe for a feature your model doesn’t have.

The small gray and white thingy? It's for a thin ribbon cable which things like touchpads and screens typically use.

As mentioned earlier, battery level (and also wear) are not exact measurements. The software reads whatever is reported, so it is more about getting a sensible number out of the battery reporting itself.
 
Thinking more, one trick to help the battery calibrate itself is to try the following:
1, charge it to 100%
2, under light load, drain the battery until the device turns itself off. This should be done slowly, so no heavy loading. Maybe run some YouTube for example.
More than one cycle of the above might be needed.
 
That way the battery management knows the where the two reference points are currently, and might give a better reading.

I really am pissed. I was expecting the battery to had lost some of it's original capacity, but 53.2 goddamn percent????

Can't really blame them, it's indeed how a company survive anyway, and Type-C PD still on 100W max unfortunately.

This one is albeit more expensive, but I'd be more comfortable with that because it's showing consistent value between pic and description, and more ratings.
 
Better more (at least the charger have some room to breathe, and more power on the brick doesn't mean the laptop will use it anyway) than less than the specs I think.

Use Vista drivers.

This normally means there is a bad install disk. Try using a different usb stick and redownloading the iso.

You don't must clone system to another drive. Just image it using second computer - this will create one big file that you can restore later. And that file can be located anywhere.
 
Btw. uninstalling bloatware and fixing bugs should not be a problem if you know what you're doing. People will be very happy when you return their computers with the same system but faster and cleaner. Not everyone likes to install everything again.
