    Smol bluetooth controller.

It aligned up with some other controllers for comparison.

    I just got this today.

    A battery powered soldering iron.
It uses 4 AA batteries, and claims to last to up to 2 hours.

I'm wiring up some 12v computer fans for cooling my mom's greenhouse for the summer (powered by a 12v deep cycle vehicle battery), I can't really bring my soldering station outside so that's why I got the battery powered soldering iron.

That's a latching power button (that I also got today) so all that she needs to do is push it to turn the fans on/off.

I'm going to 3D print a holder and mount for the button today.

Here is some temperature charts for alkaline and NI-MH batteries.

i would use your laptop as a note-taking and light work device
your dad's demands are quite reasonable, considering how much my grandparents stressed about my mom
if you parents don't let you spend your red pocket money, get a job(not so sure about this, haven't been to china in a long time)
convince your dad to let you use wired. plus, i'm sure your internet is about 30 times better than mine, and my friend with 10 Mbps can game
switch your server region in games if you need to
    wait for ryzen 3xxx
browse around at tech stores and see if they have any cases that are inexpensive and you like
i can also say that your keyboard, mouse, and headset aren't the most important, get what you NEED now, use your old mouse if have one

good luck in convincing your parents

Most non rual areas of America has recycling bins, San Francisco actually had 3 bins, an extra one just for composte.

But yeah, America is pretty behind when it comes to being "green" with many practices.

I figured that you weren't from America actually, it's 3 in the morning here, most of us are asleep right now.
I'm probably gonna go to bed as well  after I finish my beer.

I live in a rual part of Oregon, and yeah, it sucks.
I have a 3D printer that can take PETG though (glycol modified PET) so if I get the right equipment I can probably recycle most soda bottles for printing purposes.

But otherwise there is no realistic way for me to recycle that wouldn't be a massive inconvenience unfortunately.

Correct, PLA is rather recent, but that doesn't stop it from being a solution to the problem.

Also, there have been biodegradable polymers for much longer, and straws tend to be some form of PET, which is extremely easy to recycle.
That means that people need to stop throwing them on the ground though.

Oh for sure, that’s a good solution ! Totally agree with you there.

people should just their rubbish in the bin - like normal people do - and a whole heap of issues would be solved with plastic in the oceans and nature

Let's do some tests, shall we?
The gif that I'm going to link should be self explanatory.

Blender uses pathtracing, which is more complex then raytracing, but is the same basic thing.

The render uses 500 samples, is the same resolution with each render, the only difference is the number of light bounces.

The render that has the higher number of light bounces clearly has more highlights and just "pops" more.  Now let's check some of the rtrt examples in the form of glorious screenshots.

It seems that the rtrt reflections are the same, they "pop" less then the original.  The reflections do look a bit "smeared" or had some ghosting like @Mira Yurizaki stated, not entirely sure why it's there, but my guess is that the raytraced reflections are using a rather low sample rate, and there is some kind of blurring used to mask the pixelated look that a low sample rate would provide.

I was informed thag posting a YouTube video is appropriate in this instance, so below you will see a video demo that was using a Vega 56 to render a partally raytraced scene, not unlike Nvidia's own real time raytracing.

That's definitely interesting.  Perhaps this will be the gateway for rtrt with AMD users.  I have my doubts though, this so far is just a demo, which isn't necessarily indicative of real time performance, second off, as the article itself says.
We are still not sure whether this particular form of rtrt will benefit from Nvidia's specialized rtrt hardware, even though, it seems to run well on AMD cards if the demo has anything to say about it.

However, this is Crytek, the same company that developed/created Crysis, which was revolutionary and pushed what hardware could do at the time to it's limits, so it wouldn't surprise me if they manage to make rtrt possible for non RTX users.

Indeed, I have no problem with a 3.5mm dongle (I mean, it's still annoying, but a compromise I can live with), assuming I have 2x data ports.

Also, every single smartphone has a DAC/Amp in it already. Every single one. Bluetooth headphones are duplicating that circuitry, and in situations where you don't actually need portability - it's a waste.

I think that most of OPs thoughts can be chalked up to speculation, although he tends to go onto tangents so I admittedly haven't read a lot of what he said if he didn't directly quote me.
Although when it came to his explanation of water resistance he was downright spreading misinformation.
The removal of the headphone jack was very abrupt compared to most other connectors, and even so, there are PCIe cards (or adapters) for most of the connectors that have since been removed from current hardware.

Headphone dongles are simaler in that regard, but the problem with that is twofold.  One, there is no standard, so some work with some phones and not others, and two, there is only one USB port on your phone.  While wireless charging is a thing, it's no substitute for an actual wire.  I have said this before, but if you give me 2 USB C ports, with one that has a built in DAC/AMP, I'll be happy.  That would allow any 5 dollar dongle to work with the device, and more versatility with USB OTG functionality.
