Nets reacted to freeagent in Can anyone clarify how it is possible for a cheap aircooler to surpass one of the best AIOs?
Phantom Spirit Evo is a little beast. Thermalright makes the best coolers. Might not make the best fans, but they make the best coolers.

wish it was xfx, assemble one to a friend and has less power consumption and also the hotspot is 10 degrees lower

for that view makes 0 sense the whole build... 5800x3d will be pretty the same in 1440p, anyway over 2k is pointless on a gaming pc for 1440p

Well as for RGB the phanteks will be drive from your mobo, the corsair fans you need the corsair rgb nod. Phanteks you control in dragon center and the corsair on icue.
This if you really want rgb fans because they are only louder and less air movment.

About those cases i would go with phanteks, its bettet in airflow and also better with vga and cooler compatibility.

I can also recomend you the fractal design focus 2, did a build for one friend this week and its an awsome case and cheaper to.

It will certainly drive the 80, if not the 250

*edit: They don't give any kind of power specs, but 80ohm will certainly work

The two closed backs I have that I can recommend are the Blon BL-B60 and Rode NTH-100.  The Rode has ear pads that probably won't fit but the Blon will accommodate any head size and should offer some sort of noise attenuation.

*edit: I just pulled out both pairs and the pads aren't that different in size, at least top to bottom and front to back, it's just the design of the Rode looks smaller.  If you can try a pair on somewhere before you buy that would be best.  When I compare them to my DT-880 they are the same opening top to bottom but front to back theres a good 3/8"-1/2" (9-12mm) difference.  I would look at reviews of people with big ears.  Otherwise the 770 is going to have the same pad size as the 880 and should fit most ears.

    The DT-770 are great headphones

**edit: This guy has pretty big fuggin ears and he doesn't complain about the fit.  I don't agree with his stance on the sound, they sound great on music

@Psittac and @rice guru knows many good closed back headphones. The DT 770 pro 250ohm are good but the newer 700 pro X are probably better if you can stretch the budget

Then you should be looking at headphones and not a headset. I have a pair of headphones which I think will fit a big head which are the Fidelio X2HR. They are open back and the pads are big and spacious with a good self adjusting headband. They are also easy to drive but since you have a good soundcard you could drive harder to drive headphones.

If you'd like to go into a whole new world of headphones then planar headphones could be a good upgrade from what you have now. I currently daily drive my HE400se from Hifiman and those are very good in terms of soundstage, imaging and the sound signature. Sound is a personal thing but you can always adjust with EQ.

Nerver tryed FS 140 but a 140mm aircooler will allways do well and anyway dont be to much worried between fs140 or d15, i dont know wich one is better only had a d15 in the past on my old 7700k and did pretty well.
no idea how will perform on  5900x but i dont think the 5900x gets any hotter than 7700k wich was the worst cpu iv ever bought.

anyway at this moment i have a arctic 420 mm, mounted on my case (phanteks evolvx) with 3 exaust arctic 140mm fans and my system temps about 1h gaming is :
edit : had cpu tab closed xD btw i barely ear my system working at all its 20 degrees C in the room

well im going on my 3rd AIO never had an issue, the leaks usualy happen on custom watercooler, the factory AIO is well sealled, dont be worried about that. but well if you want air cooler, on a mid range cpu you dont need more than a coolermaster hyper 212, on high end i recomend noctua nh-d15 if you cant fit it get the nh-u14 and you should be fine.

About AIO arctic freezer as soon you unbox it you see that wont leak on you :D

If you got the space get arctic freezer 2, its one of the cheapest and by far better than corsair's and nzxt's.
If you dont have space, well if its a mid range cpu cooler master hyper 212 if high end noctua nh-d15

I ordered a artic freezer 360mm this week but still because i want get away of white, i have my 5900x running with a 240mm aio Corsair h100i platinum white and can handle fine...

Default Settings i got 35-40 idle and around 70 load...
On 4.7 OC get 75max and idle around 35-40 to...

This very same cooler handled a 5800x before with a bit lower temps, but when i first mount it on 5800x with pré aplyed paste went to 80's after a clean repaste with noctua's got fine.. sometimes a good thermal paste can make some difference

also since adrenalin i preffer radeon over nvidia but that is a personal choice
