Macbooks need fan control in general, on all platforms. When I had my Retina 2015 13" it would spike to 80+ degrees without heavy loads and this was said to be normal behaviour. No fan speed increase at all. I just used macsfancontrol on macOS and Windows and that worked much better. 

They value silence over cooling, it's normal for their machines to get really hot from what I hear, it's unfortunate..

Edit  /etc/makepkg.conf
look for the commented line that says
#MAKEFLAGS="-j2" and remove the comment tag (#), substitute the 2 with the number of cores you have. You can read about this on the arch wiki as well https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg#Parallel_compilation

Since these are AUR packages it's usually safe to assume the maintainers tested them and made sure they work with -j flags. At worst it won't be any faster.

Yeah, I forgot the quotes. The wiki has the right syntax.
make will spawn as many threads as the number after the j, so yes, hyperthreading counts. You should use 8.

this issue has come back. i won't get notifications, i'll refresh the page and all of a sudden i'll have a bunch of them. the last time it happened, a minute ago, i had 5 notifications.

i gave up Windows 10 a while ago because of crap like this. you as a user have no control over the OS at all... 

that's not how that works. you can't use old ddr memory on a modern system. 

i will admit i could have done some research.

compiling from the AUR etc takes forever for me because it only does it on 1 core. how can i make it use all 4 core's?

i know that, but providing hardware and controlling the video to such an extent that no negative things are mentioned at all is a big difference. 
 
besides, if intel and amd both provide review samples the two bias's cancel each other out  

oh one thing, never ever paste commands from the internet into a terminal if you don't know what they are. especially commands that require root. figure out how it should be used and type it manually. 

easy. just use it. google the commands and discover the possibilities.

yep. exactly why i disabled mine. i don't know what apple's problem was in the late 2000's and early 2010's but those 15" machines are extremely unreliable because of the gpu's. 

i bought it for a few reasons. 
i got a good deal i need macOS for a few things 16:10 display  good keyboard  
the older 13" one's are very reliable because they don't have a dGPU.

agreed. haggling to such extremes they do sometimes is just... bad. 

i already tried the dutch equivelant of ebay. that's where i got no decent offers.
