  1. 3200G is a 4-core 4-threaded processor without SMT. It would serve well for budget gaming as the Vega 8 graphics inside is enough to run most games at 720p or 1080p at low settings.
  2. By the way, what do you think about the X240? Its also a viable option since the price is also similar.
  3. Too thicc to carry tbh, currently preferring a T440s.
  4. The name "Surface" alone jacks up the price to around US$200-$300 here (where you can get Thinkpads for $100-$150). I already have a bunch of spare DDR3 RAM & a spare SSD around to use with whichever laptop I'm getting. Anyway, thanks for your input.
  5. Thanks for your input. I never thought that the X230T would be too bulky for note taking. The reason I thought of a T440/s is because the price around here is similar to that of T430 (within $10 of each other, used market here ain't that friendly), and I do plan to install a 1080p IPS screen on it in the future.
  6. I'm thinking of getting a laptop for my work & school purposes. I have a desktop and had gone through a few laptops (all died, motherboard issues). Currently, I only have a Acer Chromebook running Linux and it obviously does not have enough juice to be my daily driver. My options are either a X230T or a T440/s Thinkpad. X230T has a pen & touchscreen so I can write down notes (or doodles) whenever I want to. However, I also appreciate the newer hardware & performance that the T440/s can provide (also slightly thinner). Both of these are prices similarly in my region, with T440/s to be slightly more expensive. I'm also thinking of modding either of these, they seem fun. Thoughts? *Not in US.
  7. Performance wise, 3500 ain't that much different from a 2600.
  8. Ain't this limited to Intel CPUs & chipsets only? And as I heard, performance will be worse once you get past the dual channel threshold.
  9. "Premium Heating Solutions" FTFY, Noctua.
  10. Over in Malaysia: Athlon 3000G ~$50 2300X ~$75 3200G ~$100 Not really a good price for what it offers.
  11. Need more info. Are you running HDD or SSD? What OS are you using? Have you checked your disk health?
  12. Build: - You get to customize everything in the PC (all the components, peripherals, etc.) - You get to learn to build the PC - You get to enjoy the building process - (In most cases) Cheaper Prebuilt: - Already built for you, saving time - PC has issues? Just contact the prebuilt manufacturer and they will deal with it for you Those are the pros for each option.
  13. Laptop headphone jack to desktop mic / line in jack?
  14. For that you will need motherboard that support PCIe bifurcation. Though, I don't think there is a way to convert 1x PCIe 4.0 x16 to 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 at the moment. What we can do now is either 2x PCIe 4.0 x8 or 2x PCIe 3.0 x8.
  15. The 3600 does not have iGPU, so no point for you to connect to motherboard. That said, any patterns you observed?
