Huh....totally missed that this event was happening and have been folding the whole time since the end of the last event, lol.  In it for the push to 500M for me and seeing the LTT team hit #3 🙂

Just realized that one of my machines I thought was on didn't have the hard drive plugged in!

There are few ways you could accomplish it, but in your particular scenario none are really very practical.  There is something called "teaming" that you can do with network cards to effectively run multiple adapters together as a a single connection, but this also requires the other side (in your case, the apartment networking) to also be aware of this (either through manual configuration or other protocols such as Link Aggregation Control Protocol or LACP).

There are also other ways to "bond" multiple connections together as well through software or hardware but it comes with a lot of challenges in routing traffic.  Depending on the solution as well, you may not be able to use it as one big pipe but only as multiple small pipes (5 x 5Mbps wouldn't give you 25Mbps for one service, but you would have access for 5 different services to use 5Mbps).  Having no control over the other side very much limits your options here as well.  This is also assuming each port you have access to has its own 5Mbps allotment and isn't capped across multiple ports as well.

So yes, it is something that is possible from a technical standpoint but not really feasible to accomplish what you would be looking for in your situation.

Yeah, some WUs vary pretty drastically, my 7800xt nitro+ that ive overclocked myself further to over 2.6GHz for both memory and cores can run anywhere between 1M and 4M depending on the WU it is folding at the time

Linux is the recommended OS for folding I believe. And yes im running windows without cutting down on too much background also, fan control, openhardwaremonitor, afterburner etc all running.

So the difference in OS is possibly the difference in score. Im also only running my dGPU, not utilising either the CPU or iGPU as i dont like my system running loud and the majority of the CPU taken up

Oh yea I am def the opposite, I have it 100% all day and all night unless I am gaming, then I might pause it for a couple of hours. If my water pump is going 100% anyways might as well use it for folding 😅

I know the threads older, but thought I'd post a quick update/note surrounding the conversation on hot spot.  Through various events, I ended up getting credit for my 7900 XTX Taichi and have swapped it for a Sapphire 7900 XTX Nitro.  Hot spot on the Nitro is waaaaaaaaaay better.  Now I'm getting a 10 - 13 degree delta between edge temp and hot spot with a max hot spot temp of 84C.

Don't know what was happening specifically with the Taichi card, but for a similar size cooler the Nitro is performing much closer to what my expectations were.  Keep in mind, I did disassemble the Taichi and repaste, still ending up with a 30 degree delta....

It's a bit on the high side but throttle point should be 110C (where it will start down clocking).  I have a 7900 XTX Taichi (so beefier cooler) and it is generally sitting between 90 - 100C with 70% fan speed in Diablo 4 when framerate was uncapped for reference.  There are others who have been getting temps better than mine as well, but even after a re-paste that's where it ended up.

EDIT - Saw the concern about comparison between edge and hot spot temps.  With my 90 - 100C it never got about 70C.  I had a 3080 previously and was concerned with the large hot spot delta as well.  Still not super happy with a 30 degree delta there, but after going through the effort of repasting myself I couldn't see it getting any better 😕

I wanted to add some input here because I've had experience with hotspot delta on my 7900XT which is the basic amd reference design.

I bought the card maybe 4-5 months ago and was having 30-40c hotspot delta from the start.

I would regularly see 95-100c on the hotspot while my GPU Edge temp was sitting at 65-70c.

My card was bought used from a UK company called CEX but with a 2 year warranty.

I did however have experience repasting GPU's and knew there was nothing scary about it so I bought myself some TFX and went at it , It was super viscous and supposed to be pump out resistant.

Ended up getting good results....but not really.

I would bring the hotspot down to the 80s but after 2-3 weeks it would climb up to 95-100c again....I would open the card and all the paste was gone from the middle of the die....Pump out effect at work.

Tried a few difference pastes until I read about Honeywell PTM7950 which is not a paste but a phase change pad that claims to be nearly impossible to pump out.

So i bought it , Little bit more finicky but honestly still not too hard to apply and I'm pleased to say that 3 months later my GPU Edge temp is 65c and my hotspot is at 81c

It actually has gotten slightly better over time which is apparently quite common with it.

That's with a reference card and a maxed out power slider so really the worst case scenario.

So all you guys who have high temps on your 7900 series,  Get yourself some honeywell and ill expect to see results posted in here!

Been running as an experiment for the last week or so.  This is mixed with gaming and some on/off time on a 3060 Ti (includes the attached monitors for the station).  Put the cost in as $0.13/kWh but should really come out to closer to $0.12/kWh (it's a blended rate based on usage over 60 days)

Ladies & Gentlespoons and other in the Mix take the next couple of weeks leading up to the event to get your systems tuned, OS Patching Done and Dust Filters Cleaned.

Please also take this opportunity to inspect the power connectors on your rigs and any extension cords and outlets you might be using.

    In rainbow puke startup mode....

Running with my main rig.  The 7900 XTX is out on RMA right now but hoping to have it back in for the event.  I have an RX 560 in my media PC that I'll throw on as well and probably throw in a 3060 Ti for some extra (currently running as my backup in the main rig)

Missed this for many years but looking forward to doing it again :).  Hardware has changed a ton since the last time I participated so interested in seeing how the new stuff does.

Out of curiosity, is it worth throwing both CPU and GPU at folding or is CPU going to be burning more power than it's worth for the results?

Not looking for any more heat, so I'll probably leave it off then.  It's a 13700k, so it can take a chunk of extra power to run.

Based on the e-mail screenshot you sent, you got a Titan Stealth in 2018.  Is that what you actually purchased?  If so, your chair only had a 2 year warranty.  That's consistent with this Techpowerup article from late 2017: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/secretlab-titan/.

Would I expect a premium chair to last longer than 5 years?  Yes.  If the information in your screenshot is accurate though, this isn't a warranty issue (it's even beyond the 5 year warranty period if yours was a "2020" model somehow bought in June of 2018).  Piecemeal replacement parts are always going to be expensive compared to a full package price (try building a car out of the parts catalog vs price tag on the lot), so yeah, it's not cheap.  As a (potentially 3 year) outside of warranty option I don't know how much more I would expect beyond the free shipping.

Not trying to stir the pot, just going off what I'm seeing in the screenshot.
