Was it office 365? Cause thats subscription based and she likely got 3 months free. Only some windows 8 tablets so far have gotten truly free office home and student. Laptops in the win7 era shortly after sp1 came out were shipped with office starter which had limited functionality. Microsoft thought a good percentage would upgrade to at least home and student but for most that was fine which is why it was discontinued when office 2013 launched, if not a bit before. Besides these instances office has never been given away free unless a oem decides to do it but they like to make se cash selling it since they get a break on the price just like they do on windows. You could check out office.live.com

Office never comes free on PCs. Not for yearsssssss (with the exception of a few windows tablets and the odd netbook and VERY rare promotion)

It has always been a pay option. the people who had it included on their alienware/hp or whatever will have paid for it, I guarantee it will have been a cost inside their bundle.

If money isn't a factor then I would create an MMO. It could be available for consoles as I very much prefer the philosophy behind guild wars with just 10 active skills that you can switch rather than WoW with 70 skills per class where you need to use the entire keyboard for hotkeys. Obviously PC players would have a slight advantage with certain classes where skill shots are needed, but otherwise it would be balanced.

The basic idea was that the sun's power grew weaker for some reason and mankind asked the gods for help, and they accepted. With the gods' help cities were built in their names, where they ensure that the light will not disappear as long as mankind believes in them. But the sun barely shines in the rest of the world, and it becomes darker and darker as you move further away from the cities, and just as the gods used their power to strenghten the light other creatures of shadow and darkness used their power to corrupt the light until the world is pitch black. However, mankind will not surrender their world, and using the power of the gods to light their way they'll win their lands back and build settlements to ensure light keeps shining. Those who forfeited the gods and learned how to survive in the darkness built their own outposts, where light is not permitted.

    It would have several features:
    - Players raise their affinity towards a god by using his/her magic.
    - Gods are the GMs who can actively help players if they wish by giving a unique item, restore mana/health, etc.
    - The GMs have the final choice, so if they don't like you they wont help you. Being "liked" by a God would be rare.
    - If gods aren't worshipped then their city would weaken and could even fall if attacked.
    - Each city would have several guilds, such as the fighters or mages guild thast players can join
    - Guilds would have unique events for their members and would be ran by players such as voting for the leader.
    - Clans could also be created by players.

    - The class system would be a huge talent tree where players mix and match skills and abilities
    - Classes like tanks wouldn't be strictly necessary, with good strategy and synergy even the weirdest combinations could shine.
    - Dungeons would require proper strategy, which means you could need to change your playstyle to benefit the team.
    - Magic could be borrowed from the gods or you could use your own strenght.
    - Those who do not worship the gods become stronger in the darkness, where those who do become stronger in the light.
    - A part of the skill tree would be dedicated to carrying the light, and if you worship the gods you'd need a light bearer in your group.

    - Pvp would be done in battlegrounds, where players fight each other in huge arenas with different tests and rules, like sports.
    - Guilds would host their own tournaments to determine the strongest players.
    - There would be Guild vs Guild and City vs City events, Clans could also challenge other clans.
    - World PvP would also be possible, but "illegal". If the target survives or there was a witness then you'll get a bounty on your head.
    - Bounties would be city-dependent and players could visit a city to grab the bounty list.
    - If a "perfect" crime is comitted then no one will find out and not even the victim will be able to see your name. Gods will still know.

    - World exploration wouldn't be something completely safe and sometimes you'd need to run for your life.
    - Stronger mobs could invade weaker areas, weaker mobs could group up and world bosses could appear.
    - Lightbearers can contact the city and ask for help/warn of the danger.
    - If a God really likes you he can show up and kill the mobs himself or completely stop the boss.

Wow.. I got a bit carried away. I guess I'll stop now.

completely agree I would only want it so I knew if something was wrong, I would want it to work like it hurts more the worse the damage but once I know about the damage I can turn the pain off

I would only do it, if I have the option to kill my self anytime I want.
Ethics dont really matter to me, as life is way too complicated to stick to everlasting rules, at least IMHO.
I dont think that infinite life will be possible, ever. But say like living 200 years or so could be possible in a few decades. I would not see it as an extension of your life, but more of a second, seperate state of being and I could imagine paying all I have saved in my previous live and give it all up for a new one...

I don't know about that. I'm always a huge believer that everything must end, and should end. It's like that ying yang thing. Life without death seems weird. When I'm 80ish and death is just around the corner, I'd like to look back at my life and reflect on all the things that I've done. Death gives some tranquility in my opinion.

If it was in all respects a mechanical human body, capable of pain, touch, and other sensory functions, I don't see why not. It would make us immortal, and quite literally superhuman.
