  1. That's exactly three reviewers. And somehow others (like Linus himself or AnandTech) come to other verdicts ...
  2. As long as there's no proof that this feature will be absent on the consumer version of the BIOS or that this version of the BIOS will be unavailable for consumers respectively, I'll jump to the conclusion that this is a feature for OCers. It is obviously not about skewing benchmarks if it's present in such an open way ... Also concerning the NDA end time: It's 15:00 UTC (3 pm). Seriously what's so hard about googling a time zone converter ...
  3. Lightning was not primarily made to have their own connector - it was made because the alternative (Micro USB) just sucks. Now that this has been fixed with USB-C, there is no reason to keep the lightning connector, especially since it is only USB 2.0. Edit: I therefore firmly expect the coming generations of iPhones to feature USB-C and this rumour does not surprise me.
  4. I just downloaded the patch on my iPhone 5, make that five years.
  5. I don't like it when services reset passwords. A good password is safer than exposing users to a possible man-in-the-middle attack. Let me take care of that myself if I feel the need to ...
  6. No one realizes that's a SandyBridge E5 Xeon?
  7. Imo never really gone although not really present in the enthusiast PC area. PS4 and XB1 run AMD hardware. They always had feasable GPUs. Intel has a lot more stuff to research though. The are active in areas where AMD isn't, therefore a direct R&D budget comparison is not constructive.
  8. Do they still benchmark their cards overclocked?
  9. Aren't phone sales declining in general? Apple's numbers alone are not worth much if not compared to the competition.
  10. Why are you knocking it before trying it? Oh right, because it's not Microsoft introducing it ...
  11. Tesla's response is stupid. An aviation autopilot lets the pilot take his hands (and feet, for that matter) off the controls. For hours. In my opinion, Tesla misused the term to make their driver assist systems look better or more advanced than they really are.
  12. If 150$ headphones are "expensive audiophile quality", I'd really like to know what you would call the 1100€ AMP/DAC&headphone combo (by Stax) a fellow student of mine bought recently ... In addition, in an audiophile friendly environment there's no phone present in the first place, so why even bother ...
  13. NYPD are also driving some funny American cars instead of BMWs. Cost is the main criterion. Quality, power and everything else comes after that.
  14. Please stop feeding the troll. Thank you.
  15. While I like Windows 10 a little more than Windows 7, they are both good operating systems for most people's needs. As mentioned before, I'd agree that this halt in market share growth is related to the end of the free upgrade period. I'd assume that Win10's market share will start growing again, because new PCs will be coming with it installed. What bothers me most is the market share of Linux ...
  16. As an aerospace engineering student, I come across one or the other astronomy image and the moon is probably the most photographed body ever. As a photographer however, I enjoy the technical execution of this very much, especially the use of a telescope. Will you get the chance to build this up on a mountain in order to reduce the impact of the atmosphere? This image shows a merry-go-round at a local fun fair, taken at night with long exposure obviously.
  17. I switched from MSN Messenger to Skype around 2008 or 2009. I mainly used it for video chats. I beliebe that Skype is too bloated. It used to be way easier to use and the UI made more sense back in the day. Also syncing between the Desktops and the App (iOS in my case) does not work properly and the contact list is buggy (showing people as afk all the time). I agree with @QueenDemetria that it's the lack of passion from MS that is slowly killing it. Other services have emerged (for both private and commercial users), and in order to compete with those, Skype could probably use a complete overhaul. And to make things even worse (at least in my area), Skype has started displaying fraudulent ads, see spoiler below.
  18. "If I were a mobile app delveloper" is literally the first thing I said, and you managed to miss it. Congratulations. Also I'm sure that you either have the perfect explanation for or no idea why not a single software that I use on my Win10 PC is designed as an app (except stuff that comes with Windows, of course). So now I have heard three different stories about whom Apple stole the flash light button from (the others being "from Android" and "from a Cydia app"). Also I should get you thinking about WP if a speed limit warning and a flash light button are the most prominent examples of stuff that others copied from Microsoft. Sure it's a wannabe - just listen to yourself! "it lacks some features" yet they claim to be just as good - the definition of a wannabe to the point where if someone asked me about the meaning of the word "wannabe", I could use WP as a perfect example. Compared to the influences that Apple and Google had on each other, WP's influence is hardly measurable. Quoting myself again: "Huge app support, high security, privacy" are all things of which I know WP does not have (iOS being the reference here), WP is not an "open source OS" afaik (like Android). And maybe I should have added that "at least three years of guaranteed OS updates for every phone model" means "updates that do not degrade the phones performance to unusability", which is why a friend of mine dumped his WP and switched to Android recently. I do not know how you think that I would want a WP. It was mentioned in this video which was posted before in this very thread. It feels like a great waste of time responding to people who answer posts without reading them, you know? Writing this post feels like nothing but reiterating specifically to you what I had written before.
  19. It is indeed wishful thinking, just like expecting WP to be relevant.
  20. If I were a mobile app delveloper, I'd completely ignore Windows Phone. The time and money spent on a Windows Phone app would be much better invested into refinements of the Android and iOS versions and further innovation on the app itself. Only if my app fell into the office/productivity category, I'd maybe consider making a W10 app some day later. I do agree that we could use one or two more competitors in the mobile OS market, but not some wannabe like Windows Phone. IMO, if you wanted to compete, you'd have to combine the best of the iOS and Android worlds: Huge app support, high security, privacy, lightweight open source OS that's easy on CPU and battery, at least three years of guaranteed OS updates for every phone model, good camera, NFC, wireless charging, Type C and some certification process to prevent junk dealer phone manufacturers from installing it on their devices. And since many WP fanboys are prone to say stuff like "feature XY will be there with the next update bla bla hurr durr": We're talking about what is now and not about what someone says will come. Please refrain from replying to this post if that's all you got, thanks.
  21. How about this Star Trek TNG Bluetooth ComBadge? http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/jmgi/
  22. Can we get a comparison between DX11 and DX12 so that we can actually see the differences for each card?
  23. SpaceX mentions "an anomaly on the pad", which does not clarify wether the vehicle or the pad itself was the cause for this incident. It would have been a new milestone: This particular rocket would have been the first rocket to be reused after landing back on earth, on a drone ship in April this year. It is therefore not unlikely that the cause for the incident can be tracked back to wearout or fatigue resulting from it's previous flight. As per usual, they will investigate and probably do better next time. The launch was originally scheduled for September 3rd, 07:00 UTC. The payload, Facebook’s first satellite called "Amos 6", was destroyed in the incident. Source Edited, nevermind the cancelled part. Thanks for the correction @lots of unexplainable lag
