Student reacted to Captain_WD in NAS Drives Question
Hey LPTechnoAce,   Generally, you could use pretty much any drive in a RAID array, there are no limitations. The speed, capacity and features of the RAID will be limited to the slowest and smallest drive in it with the least features.  It is recommended that you use RAID/NAS class drives for RAID/NAS environments because of their additional features in the firmware and the way they are designed and build. Because of that, RAID/NAS class drives drop out of the arrays much harder and work smoother, cooler, more quiet and with less issues compared to regular ones.   As the guys suggested, WD Red is a great and popular drive and should be great for a consumer-level RAID environment as it features NASware 3.0 and other useful additions to the firmware.   It is not recommended to use consumer drives (RAID/NAS class or not) in enterprise RAID arrays because of the difference in the environments, workloads and other factors. This voids the warranty most of the times and it is not supported. For that you should use enterprise-level drives.   Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Happy Holidays!   Captain_WD.

I bought this about two weeks ago for $30, and IMO it's worth the 30, so for $18 it's definitely a good deal.
It's pretty entertaining and I hear the campaign is really good, although I haven't played the campaign yet.

PS: Anyone that buys it, if you ever want to play it with people from LTT let me know and I'll see if I can throw a group together on my TS3.

Not lying around, on a rack against the wall. Why not? Don't have kids, everyone in the house is trained in the safe handling of firearms, etc. I spend 95% of my time each week in this room.

    and many more.
in germany they are legal for everyone, but not for people behind the driving seat because you are not allowed to use radarwarner and cellphones.
But the co-driver is allowed to use it. ^^ and you can set it up before you start driving.

Student reacted to Captain_WD in Which nas to choose
Hey there Student,   The ReadyNAS 102 is a good NAS for your budget and should do the job. Are you planning to put those drive in RAID (Stripe or Mirror)? Are you looking for more speed or more redundancy?   I could suggest checking out the WD My Cloud Mirror and WD My Cloud EX2. Both these are 2-bay NAS devices that are easy to set up and use and come with WD Red drives inside. The EX2 is more advanced with features like third party apps support. they are easily controlled by the WD app and are accessible through the internet without any issue. They do not have the eSATA port like the ReadyNAS, but do have 2 USB3.0 ports for connecting an external drives for expansion. WD My Cloud Mirror: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1200 WD My Cloud EX2: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1180   Have in mind that if you put the drives in RAID0 you'd get roughly twice the read/write speed but risk loosing all the data if either drive fails. RAID1 offers good redundancy as one of the drives is used to fully copy the data of the other drive and can sustain 1 drive failure, but you lose half the capacity for redundancy. (you'll be having only 3TB available for storage). You could also use the drives independently in JBOD where each drive works separately.    I would advise you to back up your important data on an external drive (portable HDD or other cloud storage) in case your whole NAS fails (due to elextrical shortage, physical damage, etc.). The redundancy that RAID1 offers is not a backup.   Feel free to ask if you have any questions,   Captain_WD.

    Go with Python.

Alternatively, if you're looking for the ultimate in "I don't care, throw anything at me! Show me what you've got!" insensitivity I wholeheartedly recommend JavaScript. JS just don't give a s**t.

Student reacted to steffen_anywhere in What is TDP or Thermal Design Power as Fast As Possible
Yes this is what TDP is. You are basically right. However, most manufacturers do list both power consumption and recommended power supply wattage. TDP, being "Thermal Design Power" is still really aimed at cooling solutions, but yes you are right that those are obviously closely related.

EDIT: Also, I'm saying Hi to a fellow German LOL

Student reacted to steffen_anywhere in What is TDP or Thermal Design Power as Fast As Possible
Nope, sorry this is completely wrong. All input energy will end up as heat, i.e. degraded energy. The calculations can be seen as working against entropy by creating order. This is comparable to tidying up a room. You spend energy to do it, but after doing so, the room does not have more energy, it is just organized.

EDIT: If you studied it in more detail, ok, you have more knowledge on the topic than I do, but in the end, what you mentioned will still end up as heat... Resulting digital data has no potential to do work...

Yes exactly right. But the thing is that TDP is usually used in a very loose way. An entry level i5 is rated at 84Watts. So is a 4770K. At stock speeds even, the 4770K will still consume a bit more as it is simply clocked higher (I know it is probably higher binned or something, but it will still consume more).
