Hey,

i am looking for a good enough Android Tablet.
I want to look at 200 pages and more pdf files, browse the net, with acceptable latency and smoothness. And i want reliability.

I am interested in your experience and thoughts, but please mark them.

I had a Dell venue 8 pro:

working experience was great, but it crashed allot or did not even start,...

My own thoughts on Android tablets:

my Galaxy S2 is fast enough, what cpu power does a Tablet need and how much ram?
What brands are good, how is the Update policy,... etc.

Go Nexus if you want to stay recent. Nexus 7/10 will have you covered. After that I'd look at either Samsung Tabs or Sony's Tablet.

You could however try the Nokia 2520 or Surface 2 tablet if you want to go down the Windows RT8.1 route.

If you like stock android (which always has the new updates), get the new nexus 9.

If you're a gamer I would look into the nvidia shield aswell.

Are there any you can recommend?

I would suggest an iPad mini/iPad air , or if you really want android I would suggest the same as the people above me, nexus 7.

I can stand by the nexus 7. It's a brilliant little machine.

Thanks for your recommendation.

Does it really has to be that kind of power in a tablet?

And i am finding lots of different Nexus tablets.

From Asus and HTC, from 129 to 450 Euro

I love my Nexus 7, using it to post this right now. If you happen to get one, get the 2013, better specs.

Am I the only one around here who really doesn't like pcpartpicker?
I also like Ubisoft and Origin/EA
Guess I'm just odd that way.

to be honest it doesn't have to be that powerful, but it certainly helps to have it zippy so that your UI is smooth and your web browsing is super-quick.

That's why I love the Nexus 7 so much. It's not the most beastly or the most powerful, but it's quick and at the time of it's release was one of the monsters.

...of course, I am talking about the 2013 Nexus 7... the 2012 was a bit of a... first-gen product.

the 2013 is a great little tablet. I find it the perfect size for a tablet, and it has the perfect specs for what I need it to do. It's got 2GB of RAM, so crashes aren't so much of a problem (APPLE!!!) and the Snapdragon S4 was at the top of the line when it came out. You can pick them up for pretty reasonable pricing these days. I got mine broken off of ebay for about $100 and replaced the screen for about $60 but you can pick them up new/refurbished for a bit more than that.

Rant over. I guess I just don't like big tablets that much...

Budget?

I will buy in early 2015 an about 10inch windows Tablet.

Overall budget is 1000 Euro.

There for my buget is around 200 Euro. If a tablet at that price point is good enought.

If not i would more likely buy a Windows Tablet now.

So you want two tablets? Or how am I supposed to see this?

Instead of getting two tablets, get something like the (IIRC) unreleased Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 13 (The Windows version). That 13" screen would be amazing for reading, as it's a little bit bigger than a legal pad I believe. I'm thinking of either picking up the Android version of that tablet or the Dell Venue 8 7000 if I have money left over from my upcoming PC build.

It's better to say what tasks you have in mind for the gadget and your budget.

Things change rapidly so it doesn't make much sense to ask too far in advance of buying.

Two Tablets are quite useful, because more screens are only replaceable by more devices.

I would be using it for the university, viewing scripts, browsing the web for unknown.

So the small tablet is really only for basic stuff, i don't want to game or any thing dramatic.

I am waiting for better windows Tablets with great battery live and reasonable price.

right now i am looking at the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2. Surface series has its proprietary connector and most others are to expensive or don't support digitisers.

The shield is still a good value.

I am not saying that it isn't. I am saying that super fast DL/UL speeds for devices meant to run on mobile networks is stupid unless you get free data. Here in Canada wireless Data plans are extremely expensive and useless for heavy users. I am with Koodo mobile and it costs $30 per GB of Data. I just go the Internet hooked up three weeks ago in my new place and i have already gone through 57GB worth of Data so that would have cost me $1710 plus taxes on my Mobile network.
