  1. Well, depends on your budget. I am extremely satisfied with my LG 27UK650-W at $380-ish. For a cheaper alternative, I've heard good things about the LG 27UD68-P at $300. The 27UK650-W has the advantage of supporting HDR10, which is nice to have though not a deal breaker for me. They're both IPS panels with great viewing angles and color accuracy.
  2. OP did not mention any gaming at all as part of their usage
  3. It's a one button factory overclock that pretty much every RAM kit comes with nowadays. Basically you go into your BIOS, you change your RAM profile to XMP, and you enjoy the additional performance. Most of the time the manufacturer guarantees it to run at that speed. Here's a video on how to set it up
  4. I see no reason to buy a GTX 2060 at $349 when you can grab a much faster 5700XT for $389 (after rebate) https://www.newegg.com/msi-radeon-rx-5700-xt-rx-5700-xt-gaming-x/p/N82E16814137471?Item=N82E16814137471 Also keep in mind Skyrim only uses one CPU core, and you cannot run it at above 60fps because of game engine limitations, so the best pairing for a monitor would be a 4K 60Hz. The CPU is a fine choice for gaming, make sure to correctly configure your RAM's XMP profile to get the most out of it. I also like your choice of fast storage because modded Skyrim can take a long time to load in my experience.
  5. Oh damn I recently subbed to UFD Tech and to be quite honest, I skimmed past that video because I'm much too used to videos called "It's Over" being clickbaity non-videos that are not worth my time. Honestly I would have watched if the title was different. I'm kind of sad. I had just discovered the channel and the news they do are very well presented. Hope they keep on trucking from South Africa
  6. For your budget I feel like you're overpaying on multiple components. You can get a very good gaming experience with a 2070 Super / 5700XT type card at that budget, like this. PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor $199.99 @ Best Buy Motherboard Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard $71.98 @ Amazon Memory G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory $60.99 @ Newegg Storage Crucial P1 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive $104.99 @ Adorama Video Card MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB GAMING X Video Card $384.99 @ B&H Case Corsair 275R Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case $79.99 @ Newegg Power Supply Cooler Master MWE Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $89.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1012.92 Mail-in rebates -$20.00 Total $992.92 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-10-19 22:52 EDT-0400 Suddenly you get 43% more GPU performance in 1080p (by Techpowerup's numbers) and 54% more in 4K, doudle the NVMe storage and similar components overall. If you choose an AIO you should know that at this budget it decreases your gaming experience by that much. If you want to go team Green, the 2070 Super is the only worthwhile alternative imo, though it's $550 instead of $380 Edit: Corsair recently released a better airflow case if you're interested. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/WBVG3C/corsair-4000d-airflow-atx-mid-tower-case-cc-9011201-ww
  7. I'm still in the "healthy interest" area For now
  8. Oooo that'd make a good map I can see it being very hard
  9. Alright. Hope you didn't pay a bunch for the 2080 and sorry the problem had no solution
  10. Come to think of it, the card might still be in warranty. I'd talk to EVGA and see if they'll replace it or maybe help with the issue since it's the first time I hear about a computer not turning on at all beccause of a certain GPU. I've had a couple of broken ones in my bench but they never did that (they just didn't have video output or didn't POST)
  11. Hmm. Just as a sanity check I'd try to turn it on without GPU on But there might after all be something wrong with the GPU electrically that impedes it
  12. That's pretty weird. A GPU should not prevent the computer from turning on at all. I would rebuild the computer outside the case at this point, make sure everything is well connected. This will eliminate the chance that a short is preventing the computer from turning on, or an issue with the case's power button. Turning on the computer by jumping the power header should always work (I believe the only time it doesn't work is if you don't have a CPU in, I might be wrong). You can check this guide if you don't know how to turn the computer on outside the case. https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/2011-jumping-a-motherboard-without-power-switch-button
  13. So it doesn't turn on at all? Not even a little fans? Or does it run fans for a bit then stop?
  14. Cool, this shouldn't be the issue Are you sure it's the right reading then? Fire up HWINFO64 and see what the max temperature is for each of the CPU cores
  15. Welcome to the forums! Couple troubleshooting questions. How far did you tighten the block to the CPU? Did you go really hard? Where is your radiator located? Do you recall how much paste you applied?
  16. Is this recent? How long have you had your PSU? When you say it won't turn on, do you mean you press the power button and nothing happens? Ok, hope it solves the problem, though if it doesn't we can look at some other component being an issue
  17. That depends what resolution you're gaming on. The higher the res, the less your cpu matters (in most games, some are very CPU heavy) For 1080p there's no reason to go overboard with a 6700K. A (used) GPU on the level of 1080 Ti / 5700XT will drive most games up to 100fps+ I'd go with a 3070 for 1440 and 3080 for 4K if you want a maxed out experience. Though since both these cards are unavailable you might want to grab something as a stopgap measure. Come to think of it, maybe your 1080 is still in warranty?
  18. I'm going to take a wild guess and say maybe there's some glitch in MacOS that allows for reporting of the wrong clockspeed
  19. These numbers are tiny for an adblocker. As long as uBlock Origin isn't touched I wouldn't be worried
  20. Doesn't look anything like either
  21. Hi @dan crew, We need a bit of information to really help you out. What games you're looking to play, if you need to cover monitors / peripherals in that budget etc. You can take a look at this guide thread for new builds and planning.
  22. You drink your own milk? That's gross
