Yesterday my mother held up a corded mouse and asked me if it needed batteries. 

Just now had someone post to a group I belong to asking what he should upgrade for his pc. So he posts a screen shot from the graphics driver menu showing only that he has a 980 an i7 and 16gb of ram. And all anyone says is get the new 1080 it will make it look sweet. 
 
Tell him to give more specs especially power supply (I'm pretty sure it's pre built over priced garbage) and they tell me that isn't important the only thing that matters is the gpu. I hate dealing with people who seem to act like the have all the answers here with no actual knowledge about what they are talking about. 
 
The guy only has a cheap flat screen 1080p tv as his monitor as well....

Not really. It won't be a Zen reveal as such, so it won't be a wasted venue.
 
It will merely show it running a game and saying "hey, it's exists! And it works!". Probably also showing FPS numbers although it won't say much if we assume Doom is GPU-bound.
 
From what I can understand the Computex crowd was pretty... tame. So there will probably be a bit more excitement considering this is a PC Gamer event meaning no peasants attending.

If Zen will be shown off, it will be with a dGPU. The Zen APUs aren't ready yet, so what we'll see will most likely be an 8c/16t processor.

Also, did they actually confirm anywhere this console is designed for 4K? Or was that just the article saying 4K over and over for no reason. I really don't think they will be achieving 4K with this hardware

How not? DOOM runs ONLY in OpenGL, so it directly benefits any gamer that buys the game does it not?

All idtech games run OGL, and not D3D, so it benefits any gamer there.
 
The reason OGL is prominent in the professional world is precisely because it's an OpenStandard API, not locked and controlled by Microsoft.

OGL runs on Windows, OSX, Linux, Unix, Solaris and so much more.
 
Also as of now OGL is going to be phased out for Vulkan everywhere.

So yesterday I assembled my super super SUPER old PC which was just lying around for years that had a Pentium D clocked at 2.6 and cooled by the stock heatsink and fan provided, 2GB of I think DDR2 single-channel memory and no expansion cards. I don't remember model of the mobo  and the PSU but the mobo was an Intel one and the PSU was 400W. The OS was living in an 80GB WD drive. So here's the main deal, I ran Cinebench just to test the CPU and my GOD! The score was 19 cb! It was straight up torture! Have you guys done benchmarks worse than this or that are equivalent?

if i'd buy a 256MB stick of ram for it instead of the 32MB thats in there now it may actually not have to use its IDE hard drive as RAM

nah that would just get smashed  the n550 atom is a pretty good atom tbh, still about 1/12 of the cb points of my 4690k but still, it works fine for school work and web browsing, if it werent for the insainly bad wifi card  

my macbook has that i5-3317U (at the bottom of the cb chart)
it isn't the best but for a laptop it's reasonable
