Thanks for the help matte! Looked in shed today and found only 2 cans...Unbelievably the colours i needed (white for base coat and yellow!) and i did the rest. Hopefully dry by tomorrow!

Of course, I messaged them 10 minutes after the ad was posted and still haven't gotten a response.

Knocking on a year now I think. It would be RMA'd but I don't think I'd get a refund at this stage.

Pascal is limited to 2 way SLI

Nvidia removed that restriction, last I read.

As to the OP, if I had the money, I would SLI if I was 2K or 4K gaming, and if a single GTX 1080 wasn't delivering high frames in my games. I wouldn't multi-GPU just to have 2 cards in my system, if they weren't delivering any additional benefit.

All i have to say is don't look at them wings because they'll be wobbling like crazy if there is turbulence and you'll be shitting bricks.

While I have never tried painting a ring, painting your fan is perfectly fine if you do a light coat, be modest with the amount of spray paint and it shouldn't affect the performance or noise.

A wise man once said, get the best single GPU solution you can afford.

Unless your really set on those, and getting it from auction, I would say get something else.

@unidentical This too.  Dual GPU isn't good for everything.  Some things scale well like synthetic benchmarks, but not all games can take advantage of it.

Crossfire will work on a Z87 chipset motherboard and CPU.
As long as the PCI-E slot is X4 electrically, it will work.

The older AMD cards will NEED a Crossfire Bridge to work.
It was only with the R-200 series and newer that the Crossfire Bridge was dropped.

You are better off spending $100 AUD on a single more powerful card than on two weaker GPUs.
This is especially true IF the two HD 6870's are 1GB variants.

Two 6870's is roughly (VERY roughly) the performance of one GTX 580.
Are there any other options for $100 AUD?

    Any:
    GTX 660 Ti GTX 670 GTX 680 HD 7850 HD 7870 HD 7950 HD 7950

The GTX 580 uses the revised "Fermi" GPU architecture.
If you are not aware, the nickname it got was "Thermi" cause those chips -- especially the GTX 480 -- produced a lot of heat, and used quite a bit of power.

Performance wise, the GTX 580 is quite good but make sure it is a model that does not use the reference cooler.

Of course, it would be a better option if you could find a GTX 600 series GPU instead.
Those used the much more efficient "Kepler" architecture, similar to what your GTX 770 uses.

No reason to get an unlocked processor at this price point. An i5 4460 will do the job just fine, leaving you room for a much more powerful RX 480 (or GTX 970 if your friend is one of those people).

You'll see the black through the yellow unless you do many layers. I'd suggest doing a white undercoat and getting a yellow paint that suits your tastes rather than taking the shot and painting straight over black. However, I think we shouldn't go taking over OP's thread like this
