By the way, test your GPU, replace the thermal compound, clean the cooler... If it works there is no need to buy a new GPU...

A used GTX 660ti sells for round $90, a used HD 7950 sells for about $130

Yes i know but i tried everything, and when i plugged my gpu in, using the integrated graphics i clicked on geforce experience and it said 'You need an Nvidia Geforce product to use this application" and i also update my motherboard drivers.

Hmm... I think you should sell it then on eBay as broken and get some money out of that... Then you would be able to afford a better GPU...

I look at the prices regularly on Tahiti based GPUs on ebay, same with GPUs in my area on Gumtree. Prices also fluctuate a lot, some times a 7950 will sell for $180, other times it might only sell for $115.

yes i was thinking that i've seen a lot of stock coolers from Nvidia 770 series and up going for a fair bit ($60+, seen some that had been bidded as high as $80-100!) but i am going to try it on a different PC first before i really know its dead, in case maybe my mobo needs a reset or whatever.

i have a GTX 760 and i play BF4 on high settings with no problem. although i can crank it up to ultra but i much prefer the higher FPS over the eyecandy so i just keep it at high.

Yeah i used to have 760 4gb, bloody beast of a card, and very good cooling!
