CarlCarl reacted to Samfisher in Required hardware for running poorly optimized games
Can't power through badly optimized game. You may get slightly better frames, but you'll always overpay to get the performance you want, and somehow still not actually reach the performance you want.

Thank you, both HairlessMonkeyBoy & Radium_Angel. I got the answers i wanted. You where great help!
I am now, even more exited to make my build complete soon enough.

CarlCarl reacted to Hairless Monkey Boy in MoBo form factor & case questions
Vs ATX you will lose only a few expansion slots.
Yes, depending on the exact board of course.
Define better. If you want a small PC and don't need the extra expansion, it would be better to do mATX, than to cram an ATX system into a too-small case.
Same size case, the mATX one would probably have better cooling. Depends on the exact case.

CarlCarl reacted to Radium_Angel in MoBo form factor & case questions
No.
With sufficient quality, you should be fine
That's a personal (and physical space) preference. Up to you.
Many of them can, yes. Depends on the case.

This one is only a bit bigger than that.

Doesnt matter too much, send me links for the 3 cheapest ones + one that's cheap and looks great.
I'm not sure but the WD green isn't the worst thing ever. Most of the ssds on that list are kind of awful tbh
Nope

CarlCarl reacted to Damascus in Looking to upgrade my brothers computer
Best value (literally a 1070 cooler on a boosted 1060 - and cheap to boot)
http://m.pricerunner.dk/pl/37-4158415/Grafikkort/Inno3D-iChill-GeForce-GTX-1060-6GB-X3-V2-(C106F2-3SDN-N5GSX)-Sammenlign-Priser
The palit you linked is also great, as are both of the cheaper kfa2 dial fan cards. The aorus is way overpriced and not worth it
Like I said, I'm no expert. There are about a dozen factors, read/write are but a fraction of the whole.
Just needs to be the same size, other than that it's fine

CarlCarl reacted to Damascus in Looking to upgrade my brothers computer
6gb model is 10% faster and has double the vram
99% of the time a 256gb ssd will cost the same, don't get 120gb ssds. A good cheap model is the mx300
Literally whatever is cheapest you can get in the second hand market that has matching Gb per stick
-
CarlCarl reacted to Damascus in Looking to upgrade my brothers computer
I would get a 1060 6gb or RX 580 + 8gb of RAM and an ssd.
If if you are willing to go used these are all good options as well
About equal to a 1060/580
290/290x, 390/390x, 980
About equal to a 1070
980 ti, fury/fury x

CarlCarl reacted to Bruno_A in Looking to upgrade my brothers computer

I've never heard of that place before, now I know about it! (And it seems quite useful too!)

CarlCarl got a reaction from DocSwag in Need help with a build for a friend
I actually just figured that out before reading this. what are the odds haha You can actually get it for much cheaper on other sites. Here is a link to http://www.allkeyshop.com/ wich I always use to compare prices. I'm just gonna go with the OEM edition of course. I just hope that won't be a problem in the future but we'll see.

CarlCarl reacted to STRMfrmXMN in Need help with a build for a friend
The CX non-M are actually better in design due to a rifle-bearing fan. They do lack modularity though. If you like modularity then the CXM is fine but if it doesn't matter to you then the non-M is actually a better buy.

CarlCarl reacted to Energycore in Need help with a build for a friend
CX450 non-modular hasn't been reviewed yet as far as I'm aware, but we discussed it and if it has a better-than-sleeve fan then it'll be T2

Thanks for this great post. Very helpful. I will change my shopping list according to this!

Oops my bad I didn't realize the green thing meant sold out
I would try to get a 6gb card instead, as 3gb is a bit limiting. If you can't stretch the budget to a 6gb 3gb is probably fine, just not preferable.
Yes, it's way better than a 7500, and more future proof as well.
I think the main difference is just form factor, though if prices are pretty much the same I'd get ATX since it looks a little nicer and stuff like ram overclocking might be a bit better due to the motherboard traces not being so squished together.
For SSDs a little digging seems to give me these two for good value ~120gb drives
https://www.computersalg.dk/i/2307560/silicon-power-slim-s55-solid-state
https://www.computersalg.dk/i/1808216/adata-ultimate-su800-solid-state
And this guy for good value ~250gb drives (the two drives are identical, they're just in different form factors, m.2 is probably better since it's smaller and less cables and a TEENY bit cheaper )
https://www.computersalg.dk/i/1877073/wd-blue-pc-ssd-wds250g1b0b-solid
https://www.computersalg.dk/i/1756136/wd-blue-pc-ssd-wds250g1b0a-solid
Depending on how much your friend is willing to spend they could get a 120gb ish ssd or 250gb ish one.
For psu, this seems to be a good choice. I think it's fine since it's a tier 3 unit, as I'm pretty sure the cx grey sticker units are just cxm grey sticker units that aren't semi modular, though maybe I could get @Energycore or @STRMfrmXMN to verify this for me.
https://www.computersalg.dk/i/3318014/corsair-cx-series-cx450
If I'm incorrect then either of these PSUs would be good (up to you if you want to spend more for full modularity)

CarlCarl got a reaction from brob in Need help with Ryzen upgrade
Thank u. I feel like I now have a better understanding of my CPU. Especially after going thru the overclocking. I guess ill wait a little longer before upgrading. Maybe Intel will come with a new lineup at some point with better prices than AMD right now. But with this overclock I think I'm good. And as u said it's going to be better when it's out of beta. The developers also said so. Btw I also just overclocked my GPU, so I'm feeling good about my current setup. I do have a little experience in overclocking GPU's so that went smooth.

CarlCarl reacted to pwn_intended in Need help finding the right GPU
The best GPU for you is whatever the best one you can afford is. Your 4770k will not bottleneck any GPU more than any other CPU.

i would probably go with the msi armor oc over that card because it is a bit bigger and has a bigger cooler.

or maybe a website that you would be buying the gtx 1070 form?

CarlCarl reacted to Brooksie359 in Need help finding the right GPU
It will overclock for you. Mine boosted to 1979mhz right out of the box without messing with any settings. I would recommend getting one with a proper cooling solution but other than that you don't really need one that has a higher factory clock because it will boost higher than that anyways.

CarlCarl reacted to Brooksie359 in Need help finding the right GPU
It's kinda funny because my friend was actually running the exact same cpu and gpu as you at the time when he upgraded to the gtx 980ti.
