TheWhiteOne reacted to i_build_nanosuits in Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 vs Intel core 4770k
yes, but in this case the OP is gonna use the CPU in a server (always good to have lower power consumption from a part that will be working 24/7) the xeon are also picked as better/more efficient chips than the i7 counterpart so it's likely to save some dollars in bills over time as well. Overclocking is not even an option here.

he's right they are the same CPU, the main difference is that the xeon won't carry the onboard graphics (needless when using a graphics cards) They perform the same in games as well as in pretty much anything else.
The xeon 1231v3 consumes a couple less watts and runs slightly cooler (having it's IGP disabled) and often cost less than the i7-4790.

The H100i while compatible with the Define R4 is a very uncomfortable with most enthusiast motherboards, see post #7 in http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/116066-define-r4or-not/.

There is very little real world difference between the 280X gpu mentioned. I would pick the one that was the least expensive and fit the color scheme. Better yet, try to fit in a more powerful gpu like a GTX 770, R9 290, or even a GTX 780.

There is little real world difference between models of ssd. I would suggest getting something like a Crucial MX100 today rather than wait to get an 850 Pro.

Do not RAID 0 ssd unless the only thing you will be using the array for is to record content. In general use a RAID 0 array of ssd does not offer any performance benefit and for some operations will in fact be slower. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-raid-benchmark,3485-13.html. If you plan on a 1TB ssd, get a Samsung 840 EVO, they are currently well priced.

either the 850 pro or 840 evo, cause they have good reviews and either would be getting the 500gb or 1tb, would end up getting 2 of them in raid 0. and then just use the HDD's for holding all my videos and pictures.

You shouldn't be looking for the cheapest 800W power supply. You can get truly awful units for maybe $20, but expect them to explode.

Just to be clear - I'm no fanboy - I would choose an Intel prosesser for gaming any day. But, I usualy choose a AMD prosesser becasue  of the good cost-proformance ratio and low heat output, and the fact that I usualy have a very limited budget. (I usualy use Nvidia GPUs because of their godly performance.)

((I once built a gaming-grade gaming computer for under $500 ((mighta been a bit more than 500 after I added 4 GB of RAM (((went from 4-8))) using entirely AMD conponent (HD 7700, 8GB RAM, Athlon II x4 640, forget the Mobo & PSU), and it suprising was a little beast.))

    Any thoughts on this?

Brands doesn't matter at all. It's all about the OEM and specific components they used for each PSU line.
That said, if you want to know whether the PSU you are getting is good, check sites like jonnyguru or guru3d and look for detailed reviews.
Anyway, for the OEMs, I would say Seasonic, Delta, and Superflower are the most trustworthy ones.
It's funny how companies like Corsair who doesn't even design their PSU gets all the credit by putting stickers on stuff.

Also check out this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crucial-m500-1tb-ssd,3551-7.html I would get the 480gb unless yo uwould really benefit from two separate drives as the 480gb is quicker.

Yes and no. Actual USB is very limited when it comes to bandwidth, however this is because of the controller and not the actual cable. In this case the USB cable could have been any other cable, it would not have made a difference, it's just copper that transfers data. It should be no different from your regular PCI-e risers though, so as to whether or not it fixes crashing I seriously doubt it makes any difference at all.

Are you sponsored by corsair? You can't recommend any PSU of a brand, just because yours is awesome. This is about XFX and we found out that the unit OP linked, is indeed very good.

Check out youtube tutorials on other ASUS boards. I will look for a guide for your board if I can find it. Otherwise, it'll be basically the same as others boards from ASUS.
