The purpose of this Build is to replace a laptop I was using for programming.
I don't need that much but I wanted to be enough if I ever feel like playing a game on my free time.

    Now Some Pictures:

    Stuff arrived!!

    So far so good...

Ready to paint the motherboard's armor

Applied thin coats of paint. Leaving like 30min between coats

GPU arrived! Not that hardcore but it will do just fine!

    Now with the GPU!

Next I want to paint the backplate white... What do you think?

Noice ! I think the backplate in white would be too much white.

I think keep the GPU black, but get some lighting on the underside of it.  Other than that holy crap if I could make a computer this clean oh my I'd never actually use it I'd just stare at it!

everything looks so fucking nice omg. But one thing, i tot that motherboard comes in a version where it is white?? or it is more expensive?

Everything looks just nice no overdone or anything a lot people tends to overdo the white and this is just perfect. Air cooling ftw, i kinda wanna swap out my custom cpu water cooling to go back to air tho, with a dark rock pro 3. What cooler is that tho? Universe?

    Fans are very silent!!
Air goes to the sides ant not so centralized as advertised, I don't know if that even matters there is plenty of air pushed even though it is close to a filter and closed front panel... case only has two small inlets of air one at top and one at bottom so that's why I wanted static pressure fans.
I asked a guy from youtube that is doing a pwm controller with arduino, and has the tools to test this.
He says "each draw around 250 mA at full throttle.  They might temporarily draw a hair more while they accelerate up to speed."
Here is a picture ( btw I added a carbon fiber fan sticker to hide the label )

I only suggest using Y cables for fans in your PC. The SATA power cables have a certain rating designed for peripherals. I am not sure how to Y splitter would work in this situation.

snarkycoder reacted to Suika in ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87 - White w/ Carbon Fiber
I just recently saw the ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 Mark S, I wanted it badly because I wanted a black and white build, and it would be perfect. It was perfect, except for the price tag, I couldn't invest that much when I was looking for a $300 at most makeover, and my other plans would have blown that budget. The other day, I found a ASUS Sabertooth Z87 for $150 with a free stick of 8GB DDR3 and $35 rebate. I went ahead and picked it up, and my god was the color scheme ugly, but an overall nice board.

Nothing a little plastidip can't fix...

I also found some white carbon fiber vinyl, so I went ahead and stuck that onto a few things instead of painting them.

That's nice and dandy, but let's see it with the Thermal Armor back on.

It looks nice, except where the "SABERTOOTH Z87" and logo is marked into the board. Looks kinda ugly like that. Carbon fiber that bitch!

And if you saw, I ended up putting carbon fiber on the SATA and USB 3.0 ports.

It actually looks pretty nice, I'm going to install it later tonight or Thursday.

This is so far my best looking mod, and also my first. I'm impressed with the results and am excited to finish the rest of the build since this alone looks sexy as hell. I also want to see if my i7 can reach 5GHz lol...

the one that comes with the case is a piece of crappy plastic with holes in it

I bought the 140mm white filter and cut the corners to fit (because the case feet are in the way)
but this meant it didnt stick properly with the magnets so I used some of my white vinyl to stick it on
you can use tape, same thing
just a bit difficult to remove for cleaning, but you can also just vacuum it without removing it and that works

I need to know which filter from Silverstone did you used as the PSU dust filter!
The largest I've seen is a 140mm one...
The one that comes with the case is soooo not a dust filter... perhaps a rodent filter

If you hit this link then click on specification, you will be blown away. Check the CFM to Static pressure to noise level and tell me if you can find anything better right now for the price.

There is also this one if you don't care about the yellow color or noise.

snarkycoder reacted to ThomasD in nzxt s340 airflow for most positive pressure and less dust build up
Sorry for being unclear, I was referring to hot air within the chassis (that not vented by the GPU, from the motherboard, the CPU cooler, etc) being driven downward, and then having to re-circulate in order to be exhausted.  All that heat naturally wants to rise, top venting takes advantage of that tendency.

Why force hot air downward into the chassis?  Use thermodynamics to your advantage.

So, rather than filter a top intake, make that an unfiltered exhaust and convert the rear fan into a filtered intake.

That way it feeds fresh air to the CPU cooler (aim that upwards), the front fans maintain positive pressure, and the top fan exhausts the heated air.

I have a Thermaltake V51 set up similar and it works very nicely, most of the time the chassis fans are running at 40%, and they only ramp up under very heavy loads.
