One hundred percent. I am in my very early 20s if you couldn't tell lol but I have been building since I was 10. Haven't used anything other than a seasonic unit, except for maybe an Antec VP-450 here and there, which by the way, were also PERFECTLY FINE even with i7s, ssds, systems full of ram, and a mid-tier gpu (at the time i am referring to a high end GTX 750 Ti or GTX 950). I wonder if this is being actually monitored by anyone legitimately at LTT or if it's just a bunch of forum dudes.

You're "seriously concerned with my 5v rail" with 3 ssds and an rgb lighting kit? Do you not know that an SSD takes maybe 2w of power over a time period of an hour? That's 6 watts for all of my SSDs, and maybe an additional 10w for all the rgb lighting, which I highly doubt anyways.

Nobody cares if it is a nine year old platform. 12V undervoltage protection and group regulation are also just excuses to tier down, as I would say a majority of PC gamers that are affluent enough to do their own builds actually live in an area with decent power. If not, get a UPS, which you should have already if you live with dirty or spotty power.

To be clear, I did not directly attack you as far as the tearing down due to simple things like fan bearings or wiring. I read several posts of multiple people claiming "they said they tiered down the unit due to X" which could be hearsay but judging by the fact that you consider a M12II / S12II as barely a "prebuilt replacement" we can kind of tell the level of pettiness on why actually decent, relatively inexpensive power supplies are being pushed down to a "prebuilt replacement" level.

There are prebuilts and even "custom builds" out there with Diablotek, Apevia, and many other truly garbage power supplies out there. To say a M12II is a direct replacement for a prebuilt or crappy custom build's power supply is just plain ignorant. It's time for a restructure

I cannot believe the sheer amount of disrespect y'all are putting on the Seasonic S12 / M12 series. I have used them exclusively for years now building PC's and have had 0 issues. My most recent build had a M12II Evo 520W powering an i9-9900k, a 1080 ti, 3 ssds, 5 fans, rgb led lighting strips, etc. just fine with absolutely no issues. I have multiple friends with similar builds and the same PSU with no issues. I have built several machines with these power supplies during my previous time of employment at a computer repair shop. 0 issues. I've had nothing bad to say about their power supplies whatsoever.

But seriously, downgrading PSU's entire tiers because of a fan bearing type or type of internal cabling or external cabling is just plain moronic. It's showing new PC builders that you need to have a $100+ power supply to get your computer powered effectively. Which is simply not true.

I'm not an engineer but damn it when I use a product and its been good to me time and time again, I will continue to use and even recommend the product.

$530 for the fury nano seems like a lot when I'm being @ 1080, should I go 1440? Would I still be able to max for a couple years or is 1080 more reasonable for maxxing a few years down the road

I'm going with the i7-6700k so whatever I pick isn't going to be bottlenecked at all

no, 580 simply has more SPs than a 7770

I still don't see a reason to go haswell. You can go skylake, get a 8gb stick of albeit not pretty ddr4 for $40, a entry level h110 motherboard for $55, an i3-6100 for $120, a 750 ti for $100, a wd blue 1tb for $55 and a case+psu for under $60 and it's the same cost, if not cheaper than haswell and you're getting the most current platform.

You're only 14 and you are trying to build a PC of those specs? My word to you is buy the expensive stuff first, not the cheap stuff like the case, psu, fans, etc. If you buy the more expensive stuff first it will help you keep building (in my experience, but this is coming from someone that moved his Dell Inspiron 530 into about 3 different cases all with brand new fans)

Looks like it will be a nice build

New is for people that like stability. They just recently made a video about this in their scrapyard builds, etc. Used parts are nothing to brag about.

Lightning cards have the best air cooler on the market. While it may be 3 slots, that 290x puts out something like 450w of heat or something like that, not to mention overclocking.
