Posted December 15, 2015 I'm building a skylake pc and the only connection I have for pcie cards is a single 8 pin. I have 3 options as far as the best cards with this connection. R9 380X GTX 970 (only STRIX) R9 Fury Nano Now obviously I want the R9 fury nano but I am only going to be gaming on 1080p but I do want a minimum of 60fps on maximum on most games (games like witcher 3 and MLL I can understand high) The fury nano will truly future proof all the way up until I'd say 5 years for high @ 1080p what do you guys think given I want a 1080p60 gameplay on max with all current titles? Posted December 15, 2015 The 970 would *probably* get 60fps in most games at 1080p maxed for a few years The 380x would for a little while And obviously the Nano would for quite a while Go nano if you can, otherwise the 970 would do you just fine ||LTT Starter Guide||
 Posted December 15, 2015 on 1080 the 970 would be enough on most titles, tough if you truly want to max it out on all new titles the Fury nano would be the way to go! (if you have the cash) I love your signature lol "every gpu will run passive if you unplug the fans" $530 for the fury nano seems like a lot when I'm being @ 1080, should I go 1440? Would I still be able to max for a couple years or is 1080 more reasonable for maxxing a few years down the road I'm going with the i7-6700k so whatever I pick isn't going to be bottlenecked at all
 Posted December 15, 2015 Pardon me oh jesus of the forum I forgot there was a f*cking huge difference between the two The 380X seems pretty good value for money, and in the UK, they seem to be the cheapest of the three choices. Also the 380x doesn't have the whole 3.5+.5 ram issue so I actually get full 4gb

Posted December 15, 2015 Author 380X, GTX 970 and... Fury Nano?? Do you know how much a Fury Nano costs? You'd rather buy a whole new PSU with higher wattage to run a 390/390X 8GB VRAM and don't look back. I asked for a single 8 pin gpu. I didn't specify budget. I don't want a freaking jet engine in my tower much less one that is designed to run @ 95C As I said the fury nano costs $530 and I can spend that if it's truly going to "future-proof" as in like 4 years down the road still max @ 1080p
 It's basically a GTX 960, but so much better! Posted December 16, 2015 Author I meant to put performance/watt Wow I'm dumb lol The fury nano I think would be the best choice. While it's not cost effective at all, I can see dropping $500 on a card that's going to last me a very long time at high settings for my 1080p gaming. Coupled with putting it in a matx mini tower (n200) I will have amazing temps (right now it has 5 fans in it, and I will be getting a low profile noctua cpu cooler) and I won't have to ditch my brand new power supply.
