Excited to see where I land on that R20 sheet as it gets updated, I should hopefully be able to pump out some more scores soon with my new job giving me enough spare change to actually save up for a more sophisticated cooling setup! I'm gonna blast past that 4000 barrier

Damn that's probably THE cleanest optiplex sleeper I've seen, cleaner than a lot of systems in modern cases even haha. Absolutely awesome job!

So I found an RTX 2060 Super for about $375 and promptly got it. I plugged it in the optiplex and my 700BR immediately died. Not entirely sure why. Thankfully my PC didn't get destroyed, so I returned that and got a 550 B3 so I could have a fully modular power supply. I used some carbon grey sleeving from MAINframe customs and hand sleeved the wires. I still have to do the 24 pin mobo cable but otherwise I would say it is basically finished! I think it looks awesome! What do you guys think? (sorry for the bad picture)

I think that definitely explains my troubles lol. Maybe I'll borrow an A/C unit and jayz2cents my way past 4k. Appreciate the help ?

I couldn't push this OC on a 240mm AIO which is similar to performance to most high end air cooling, had to build a 600mm worth of radiator space loop lol - cause Cine would spike it to shut down - Good luck!

Sadly while I was able to push my cpu to 4.03ghz after dropping my ram to 2666, I still got between 3980 and 3990. I'll try and work on it more next weekend because I'm obviously missing something important. I'm thinking it might be a thermal limit since I'm still only air cooled, I'm definitely pushing over 80c under load with these ocs.

I'm even more tantalizingly close to 4000. 4.02ghz is the furthest I've been able to get this thing, and adding @Tristerin's realtime trick gave me that little extra boost. I think I can get there if I can work out another 10 or 20mhz. My system is just so sensitive past 4ghz haha, it's such a gamble whether it'll crash or not.

I'm pretty far behind in upgrading a lot of my parts, but for some reason I get a lot of anxiety about buying new stuff? I have a really shitty case, a terrible tv as a monitor, and a fairly old R9 380x gpu, but I can't bring myself to upgrade even when I've had multiple chances to. The only reason I moved up to the ryzen platform a couple years ago was because I had my partner click the order button for me. Has anyone else dealt with this type of anxiety, or am I just an idiot? haha

I think perfectionism plays a big role into it for me too. I worry about getting the absolute most for my money, even if anything I buy is a massive upgrade from what I already have. And since the market moves so fast it's difficult to just buy something because people are already building hype for the next generation of things and I OBVIOUSLY wanna wait for that before upgrading.
Pretty much all of my hands on computer skills and knowledge nowadays comes from fixing and upgrading other people's pc's because mine is so rarely touched haha.

When I bought my 1070, it was my first purchase off of Ebay. I was worried sick about it being DOA, but it all worked out in the end.

    Smal Sunday update.
I installed leds in mobo tray.

    And assembled everything.
Using screws and nuts to mount the motherboard was not a good move after all.

Almost completely done and ready to boot it up.  Assuming I get what I need in the mail today everything will get wired up.  Leak tested for 6-7 hours one day and about 11 hours the next with no issues. Here is where I am at.

Rule of thumb, always go for a more powerful single gpu. Not every game supports crossfire and SLI, and some even get lower fps with multiple gpu's. So unless you're doing multiple high end cards, it's really not worth it.

Hey guys, first time posting here, so let me know if I'm doing it right! This is the first in a series of cases I am building. While this one happens to be a SFFPC, the next few that I plan on doing will be a bit larger and for an mATX & ATX standard. The design is made out of 3/16" steel & fabricated entirely by me.

On the plus side, it can go away. My 290x had coil whine when it was new, but it disappeared after a while
