5900X generally performs better core for core than the 5950X and is already $550 full retail. You're basically just paying $200 for the 8 additional threads on the 5950X. There's some professional workloads where that actually matters, but in the majority of scenarios the 5900X is the way to go both for performance and value.
 
As for the 12900K, you'd actually only have the same thread count as the 5900X, anyways, and not all of them on performance cores. In short, unless you need PCIe 5.0 (you don't) or DDR5 (you don't), then the 5900X is still going to be competitive.

I did a Bare Metal install with no Reg Edits or Hacks... just an normal clean wipe everything and Install on USB Boot. Found my Basic Drivers under Windows Update for CPU / Chipset / USB3... got the Manufacturer Drivers off the ASUS Website for Windows 10 and used them ... went and got my nVidia & SSD drivers... it all works as it should
My Intel Core i7 6850k is below the Min Sys Requirements for Windows 11 (6th Gen CPU) and I get Windows Updates regularly

and you can get quite lucky on the motherboards too, paid 130 for mine including all 24 gigs of DDR3 (and an i7 930 that I now use to open boxes :P)
I would almost bet that my system is probably in the top 1% price per performance on here - 350€ total, 200 of that CPU/RAM/Cooling, 0 GPU and 150 for PSU+SSD

I can score over 1300 if I leave speedstep off, so it sits at 4.4Ghz at all times, because of the amount of time it takes the Cpu to crank up to full speed. But as it sits with speedstep, I get between 1274 and 1276.

Oh the joys of Northeast winter with no garage or off street parking.   ...yup the inspection ran out in August. It doesn't get driven often, though it is going in the shop Friday for some work and inspection. Fully street legal.

but it yeah there are good automatics and terrible ones. Most of the old ones are pretty bad... Newer ones tend to be a bit better, especially on higher end cars. Like my dads ZF 8 speed

I messed up my first post a while back, I've redone it. But I have Intel Speedstep on, so Cpu won't stay at speed, I'll use HWMonitor to at least show that it's hitting the speed I claim.

Good man!! what I did was put a jar by the TV and every day I would put the money in it that I would spend on fags which was £13 at the time, that way it was an incentive to carry on. At the end of six months I had enough money to buy this.

Instead of two monitors, I would go with one 21:9 monitor

then go delete everything in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download THE FILES, NOT THE FOLDER
and do cmd again

You are most welcome The longer the drive spins with the old bad sectors, the bigger the chance of getting new ones so I'd try to limit the spinning time. And do keep backups of the important data.     Captain_WD.

I'm sorry to hear about the bad luck with the drives. I hope with the new builds you will have better luck and less problems. To be honest, if these were physical bad sectors, the chkdsk /r most probably isoalted them and they are currently invisible to the OS. Sadly, physical bad sectors cannot be fixed as these are physical scratches on the drive platter. Such scratches form miniature air pockets on that spot and whenever the read/write head hovers over that place, due to the high speed, air pressure and the very small distance from the platter itself, it falls a bit in that pocket, then rises again and from the up/down movement it has a high chance of landing somewhere else on the platter before returning to it's stable and normal stance. We are talking about very small distances but with the little distance from the platter and the high rotational speed, this happens and thus new bad sectors are formed. This way if a drive starts to get bad sectors it's prone to failure sooner or later and it's always advisable to be replaced.   Hope this is useful,   Captain_WD.

They didn't test many games, but one can't really argue with the results. An amazing amount of work.

In my experience there are a few games that benefit, but very few that benefit more than a few percentage points. Personally I would save the money, grab an i5, and put the savings toward a better Gpu.

Hey Abakan,   Try plugging the drive to other SATA ports with the new cable and see if the problem persists. Did you run both tests of the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic or just the quick test? I would open the CMD and run chkdsk /r and check for bad sectors. Updating the BIOS, OS and all the drivers to the latest available versions might also fix the problem.   Captain_WD.
