I have both the E7500 and Q6600 and honestly.... both pretty similar at stock speeds. Would call it more of a side-grade than an upgrade. I do notice that the Q6600 uses slightly more power than the E7500.
 
Unless you specifically need more cores, i wouldnt waste your time with a Q6600.

I have dealt with PCCG many times. Once of the best Australian retailers and very trusted. Probably the biggest and best online retailer in Australia.

Simple solution... Cover up the holes with tape to block the airflow and see how your temps go. I doubt you would have a problem. If all good you can replace the side window to a solid one.

I have been a bit lazy with updating this thread while i try and iron out a few final details of my build. A lot of hardware has been released since i started this build so the longer i leave it.. the older the parts seem! I have finished the build and flushed the loop several times. My first coolant turned dark so i was forced to drain and flush the loop several times before refilling with fresh pastel orange. I have also replace the side windows with a nice piece of glass which enhances the look sooo much. Photos do not do the side window justice. I would recommend a glass side window upgrade to anyone willing to give it a go!
 
I also painted a few other pieces and after making and fitting a PSU cover, decided to remove it. The PSU cover hides all the wires, but i personally prefer the look of the PSU and sleeved cables so i opted to leave it out.
 
I am in the process of taking a heap of photos of the final build and will post up soon! Photo below is when i was initially bleeding the loop and leak testing.
One of the reasons it's taking soo long is because i decided to build a FreeNAS box in the middle of it all. Photo of that build below and you can see more about it here.

no.. you didnt get 'hacked'... you got belted with the stupid stick.

My favorite is taking a screenshot of the desktop.  Then using that screenshot as the desktop wallpaper.  I haven't checked the latest version of Windows (nor am I around a Windows PC right now) but in XP, you could right-click the desktop and hide all icons. 
 
Funny stuff.  I did that to a guy when I was in school to a guy that sat in front of me (back when XP was the latest).  I watched him for about 15 minutes flounder to figure out what was going on.  He finally got it though just by experimenting and clicking/right-clicking on things.  Then he turned around to roll his eyes at me.  He didn't know it was me until I couldn't keep a straight face any more. 

Offer or ask him what you could do around the house to pay off your debt, you will learn the value of money and what it means to work hard for something. Each day you will appreciate your gaming PC more because you will know that you basically payed for it. Also your dad will be proud

The NAS uses about 85-90W when idle, 100-110W when under full network transfer to RAID and 120-130W when transcoding media via Plex to 3 different devices at once. The Xeon is probably overkill but opted for a Xeon over my previously planned Avoton C2750D4i due to similar pricing and sourcing of components in Australia. I also opted for the 1231 Xeon as it offers Hyperthreading for only a few dollars more (Again in AUS). The HX750 PSU is way more power than i need but i had this lying around so decided to put it to use. I may re purpose this PSU for another build in the future in which case i would probably run the NAS on a Seasonic or Corsair 400-500W PSU.
