Good to hear. Make sure you keep backups. The scaling should be pretty good up to the 800MB/s mark. If you ever decide to add redundancy, Intel RST allows you to plug in a drive and convert the array to RAID 5.

You're right, that's exactly where the OP's supposition falls.  The 224gb/s bandwidth is exclusively between the gpu and vram, the data still streams through pcie while loading a scene, which means it won't limit rendering times (if a game is coded properly of course).

SLI works on 8x and above.

I'm not sure if it would work on a non-certified board. If I had to guess, I'd say SLI would run into issues, but Crossfire might work. Be warned though, one of those adapters may lead to overdrawing current through the PCIE slot. I wouldn't recommend using one for an device drawing more than 35 Watts.

You're missing the copy of Windows though. (Yes I know where this is going...)

That PSU is fine for pretty much any system using a 750 ti. Running 3 drives from it should be fine, as well as the connectors for the GPU.

I had an HP server a while back. It was using four 15k RPM SAS drives. From what I used of it, they were pretty quick, and all the drives were running fine after a few years of 24/7 operation. However, if you are considering using these sorts of drives, it may be worth mentioning that they are incredibly loud and require an SAS controller.

1 large ssd is safe... boring and just like everyone else. 2 ssds in raid is 1000MB/s, baller, and something your friends will envy. You decide.

Data redundancy... we have steam now (scoff), shit can be re installed. Performance is king. You want redundancy build a nas.

Same happened when I bought BF3, it is part of the game files for Battlefield 3 Limited Edition, which it gives you when you buy premium.

guyf2010 got a reaction from conhasshoff in what motherboard do you have?
I got an Asus H87M-Pro about a year ago. I bought it as a combo with CPU, it looked alright and had everything I thought I'd need. As it turned out, I used more of the features than I planned. It has been deal ling increadibly well with RAID. I wasn't sure how well the built in raid controller would deal with SSDs, but I'm able to exceed 850MB/s through it. I ended up using Crossfire as well, something I definitely didn't ever plan on using seeing as I started with an nVidia card in that machine. The only issue I have had is the second PCI E port forgets its 4x setting (runs at 2x by default) for the first boot after power loss. This does cause Crossfire to disable until the computer reboots, but that's only a minor issue. Overall, yes I would buy it again.
After the release of the 9 series Intel chip set, I picked up a Gigabyte B85N-Pheonix for A$80. I wanted an ITX board for a LAN build. I chose it because it was cheap The only cheaper board was an Asrock H81 board. The board mostly works fine. I like the lights and the ports are generally pretty good. However, there is only one chassis fan header. The clip on the end of the PCI E port gets caught on graphics cards and is really difficult to undo. The gigabyte software for it is terrible. 80% of the time, applying a different fan curve causes the entire system to suddenly loose power. I wouldn't recommend the board to a friend, but I would buy it again over the boards at a similar price. The majority of the PC was spare parts I had, so I wasn't really looking to spend a lot on a new motherboard.
