  1. But won't you be able to hear the CPU and GPU fans more easily if you have the side panel off? It comes down to what temps you're willing to tolerate as well as your workload. If you aren't doing intensive stuff then do whatever you want. Just monitor your temps.
  2. Putting Vsync on half locks you into 30FPS, unless you're using a high refresh monitor
  3. If you can consider it a video game, my first was Reader Rabbit. I also played Math Blaster around the same time. If those are no good, my first actual video game was 3D dinosaur adventure. My first actual actual video game, not counting old school janky PC games, was Pokemon Red.
  4. That's not always true. There are some games where having higher frequency RAM will give a noticeable or even significant performance increase. Fallout 4 got a lot of coverage when it released because of this.
  5. If you want a good story driven FPS game, play Metro 2033/Last Light Redux. Also maybe give Singularity a try, it's similar in gameplay and story but with more futuristic design.
  6. There is a squiggly line of off-color pixels on my monitor, making me think that it's not a cluster of dead ones but rather a tiny hair that got caught. There are a few other specs that look similar that I'd also like to remove. So either this monitor is a real piece of shit and has dim pixels galore (not a far stretch considering the QC), or there is a gap somewhere that is letting a ton of dust and crap in. Is taking apart a monitor a thing that is easily doable? I have an Acer XB270HU.
  7. No, you can only use one at a time, at least with your setup. Some lower end AMD components can use dual graphics mode that can utilize CPU integrated graphics and GPU graphics at the same time.
  8. It's because you're a kid and kids are bad. Sorry if you wanted a different answer but that's the truth. Use a voice changer if it bothers you that much.
  9. This happens every few years. Appealing primarily to young people comes with the inevitability that they will grow up and stop watching. How many of the top tier channels from 5 years ago are still relevant? Almost all of them have been replaced. In the specific case of minecraft the problem is compounded by the fact that a game can't stay wildly popular forever.
  10. Whatever works. I like fraps because it updates extremely quickly.
  11. Pick a game with a framerate that isn't hard capped, turn off vsync, use fraps to check framerate against benchmarks.
  12. If you want to play UT, go play UT. They're making a new one, it's in pre-alpha and free to download and play. https://www.epicgames.com/unrealtournament/
  13. I attribute the degradation of content to the huge hardware drought. There hasn't been any major hardware releases in months, so they have to scrape the bottom of the barrel until new stuff comes out to review/bench/overclock.
  14. Logitech G602, Razer Hex both have 6 thumb buttons. There are more but most of them have way more buttons.
  15. Your neck will thank you
  16. Why? To make money without expending effort.
  17. Wish the photo was a higher resolution. To me it looks like some shit some dude 3D printed in his basement and then prettied it up a little.
  18. What resolution? Are you getting an ultrawide? At the end of the day it really doesn't matter, but if you don't upgrade your resolution you'll notice a decrease in clarity due to the lower ppi.
  19. They're just shittier versions of the i series CPUs designed to run (for the most part) on passive cooling. They are clocked way lower and are designed to output as little heat as possible. They are infamous for throttling despite this and bogging down while multitasking. Avoid them.
  20. See if you can find a used/discounted Yoga 2 11 inch. It has 4GB RAM and a quad core pentium CPU. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lenovo-Yoga-2-11-11-6-inch-Touchscreen-Laptop-500GB-HDD-Black-59RF0982-/301776567014?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 Doesn't meet budget but it's close. Otherwise you're probably going to have to look for an AMD laptop because other laptops in that price range are usually running celerons or atoms and nobody wants that.
  21. It really doesn't matter. Like @Shimejii said, you may notice some ghosting but in all likelihood it will be extremely minor. Response time is not that same as input lag, though the two are generally correlated in some way, outside of the lowest of the low end of monitors. Either way, 8ms isn't going to affect anything unless you're playing at very high refresh rates.
  22. The difference in picture quality is low, but the difference in pixels is high. 1440p has ~80% more pixels than 1080p. That doesn't translate 1:1 to performance, but it gives you an idea of how difficult is it to drive. To get a good experience at 1440 I'd say get at least a 390X or a 980. If you want to crush it get a 980ti and call it a day, or wait for the next gen cards. There will likely be a better solution at a lower price point.
