  1. You can. AMD ray tracing performance still isn't as good as Nvidia, but it's a lot better than last gen. Try to find benchmarks to see if the AMD card in your price range can hit an acceptable fps with ray tracing for you. If not, I'd suggest going Nvidia instead.
  2. Depends on the games you want to play. If they support DLSS, but not FSR, or ray tracing makes a significant difference, go team green. Otherwise, team red looks to be a better bet this gen.
  3. This guy clearly had a shaky grasp on reality, is there any evidence beyond his testimony that the AI actually told him that? He's been sent to Broadmoor, which is a secure psychiatric hospital, rather than prison. The 9 years will be dependent on his phycological state. If he is well enough to be transferred to prison, he could be out in half ten time. If he is still suffering from homicidal delusions, he will be detained in a secure mental health facility until he is deemed safe for release. The length of sentence in these cases doesn't mean much.
  4. It seems an unlikely move for the home market. At the low end of the market, people would go Chromebook, at the high-end, Mac. Only a pretty small niche of the PC buying public need Windows. Our little Windows bound corner of the market would probably migrate to Linux. It would be rough for a couple of years, but it would get better pretty quickly IMO. Valve are itching for MS to fuck up and drive gamers onto Linux, and do what they can to keep us there. I assume the main source of revenue from home uses is from selling OneDrive subs and user data to advertisers. I imagine the like of HP, Lenovo etc... pay a fraction for OEM licences that we do. If they set the sub at £/€/$50 per year, the same sort of level as an individual 365 sub, would that compensate for the loss of the OneDrive and user data revenue? Would MS's corporate ego be bruised by Windows market share sliding? Of course, what some senior Exec does while existing in a yes men bubble, is anyone's guess.
  5. Or maybe they don't care, because phones have been sufficiently powerful for what 99% people use, for years now. Like how most people don't really care about the performance of laptops they buy, because even low spec ones are enough for them.
  6. Sometimes ambition exceeds ability. I think this is one of those times. If it were a scam, nothing playable would have been released. And arguably, by releasing a half finished buggy mess, they are giving you a AAA gaming experience...
  7. You can roll back to version 1.63 if you like. On Steam, it's an option under Betas.
  8. It will add in some car stealing missions, along with new cars. The rest of it looks pretty self-contained. But we will have to wait for Thursday to find out for sure.
  9. 12GB should be enough. Though it is hard to predict how much VRAM games will use in future. If games rely more on DLSS & FSR I think we could see VRAM demands remain pretty static.
  10. Sometimes your giant waterfall just needs more FPS
  11. I'm never sure about these services. How do we know these services aren't in turn selling our data? You know, all that data we asked you to delete? How would you like to buy it back?
  12. Sounds like everything you're taking can be charged from USB? If so, I'd suggest something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Charger-SPLAKS-Universal-Worldwide-More-White-White-B/dp/B08Y6D9N76/ref=sr_1_19
  13. Meh. As long as it works for charging, and we can finally have one charging cable to rule them all, I'll be a happy bunny. Taking large files off your phone, by cable, is a pretty niche activity. Rumour is that the pro model will allow faster transfer speeds, which is what you'd be using if you're shooting a lot of high-res video. It is a shitty move, and seemingly done for no good reason other than Apple's disdain for its customers. But It won't affect many users. It's certainly less egregious than the soldered SSDs in MacBooks...
  14. Does the keyboard have software? If so, I'd disable it and see if the problem goes away. If not, I would try Windows safe mode, then a different keyboard. And if that still doesn't work, then I'd try using a Windows 11 ISO to repair (not re-install) your OS.
  15. Also, TVs are high volume, unlike 165hz laptop panels. And of course, manufactures aren't all that keen on repairing devices and price parts accordingly.
  16. Tech seems to fall into duopolies. I guess it would fall into monopolies without competition legislation. It is frustratingly hard to escape their grasp too, especially on mobile devices. YouTube was loss making for a long time. Hosting video is an expensive business, just not quite as expensive as it once was.
  17. Not a puzzle, but the original version of Mafia had the race made easier as so many people couldn't complete it. It was doable with a controller, but impossible with a keyboard.
  18. A toilet cleaner that also clears limescale would be the obvious solution here. Assuming you can get that, where you live. Vinegar takes time to work, it needs to soak, so not really a solution for a toilet. Unless you can create some kind of vinegar gel? Unless the surface of the bowl has started to crack, allowing the waste in under the glaze, it will be just the limescale holding the stain there.
  19. True. But by the time that happens, hopefully the community will have an answer for that. Game perseveration is sadly getting harder, rather than easier
  20. I have Yellow North Pole switches in both my mech boards. Reds are just too light. Yellow is truly king of the linears!
  21. Feeling pretty smug about owning a Gainward card now. Though, buying during the great GPU shortage didn't leave many options. Your card probably isn't going to go wrong, though. The companies warranty performance is far more important IMO.
  22. Do you know when the mouse was made? To not have a mouse wheel, or even a middle button, it must be very old. I'm pretty sure every mouse had a wheel by 2000? I assume it's a ball mouse?
