  1. so i just got the GigaByte Aero 15X v8-BK4 laptop and i got it to install the windows 10 off the m.2 but i was trying to get it to install my windows 7 cd. in the bios i cant seem to get the boot drive for the external dvd drive to show up only the m.2. i used a Samson usb to external dvd and i tryed a sata dvd drive using an usb to sata adapter and powered it with an external psu. when i boot in to windows 10 i can see the dvd drive and see the windows 7 files (so its hooked up) so i poked around in the windows 7 cd and found a way to get it to load the windows install but when selecting were to install it too it just says it cant install it to any portion or mane portion. when i click the why button is says it need the stander m.2 drivers. any ideas?
  2. hey so im trying to get Giga-Byte Technology Aero 15X v8-BK4 used laptop off amazon.ca and i got a Targus 2 fan chill mat https://www.amazon.ca/Targus-Lap-Chill-Mat-AWE55US/dp/B002NU5O9C/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=targus+chill+mat&qid=1557964665&s=gateway&sr=8-1 for cooling it...i had it all of a day and thing on moding my own fans in it. questions im having are the lap top has 3 usb 3.1 ports and i was thing on going usb male to 4pin fan. my question is do i need a usb 3.1 male connector or any male usb connector should work? most connectors i find are 5v would that laptop handle 12v? i found that natua make a 5v usb fan but bit price at $40 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07F49P8S2/?coliid=I3A8W5LJJ0PKSW&colid=1FAOHYDQQPCKN&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it usb 2.0 male to 3/4pin 5v https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07G8BCH7V/?coliid=I2A7PU4H4IW7Y4&colid=1FAOHYDQQPCKN&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it usb 20. male to 10pin dupant https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06Y5C7DKH/?coliid=I1V3V6JIRH95FT&colid=1FAOHYDQQPCKN&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it i already found a way to take out the midel plastic thing out of the laptop mat just need to find out how big of fan i can fit. i think the 2 fans suck air in the bottom and exhaust out the top front? https://www.ultrabookreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/back-2.jpg
  3. so i did get a used Giga-Byte Technology Aero 15X v8-BK4 off Amazon for $1900 as it has even better battery life off then the Dell XPS 15 9560-HID61. but i cant get the liquid metal form that site so ill just have to figger that out later on. i read about under clocking the cpu helps a bit. a guy did do a repast and put pads on the vram but only got like a 2% increase. i did select one (out of 4 used) that said no scratches on the screen so lets hope.
  4. oh i did find a dell xps 15 9570 for $1880 + shipping tax (untill monday) but ied have to give up the liquid thermals or maybe see if a local computer shop offers it. https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834846169&Description=dell xps 15 9570&cm_re=dell_xps_15_9570-_-34-846-169-_-Product

  7. i no idel anything dosent really matter just talking about gaming. how may hours game can i get. weight doesn't mater but would be nice. i think any laptop idel will get at least 6 hours
  8. haha ya this site sounds like a good idea for the thermals kit. would be nice if they offerd more 2x4gb insted of 1x8. just hard deciding there just so so much haha and i new with laptops so this be my first. i will only be using mosty for traval but i can see using around the house for enet youtube muisc. i do have a gaming desctop with a gtx 1070 so if i really want to game harder i can game on that and just have to wate. atm the plane ride is about 1 1/2 - 2 hours. even if i som how kill the laptop on the plane i can just listen to mp3 or just want free moves so do i really need the 97wh? can i get something with a bit less a bit cheaper and still come out on top? just so hard becuse they dont list the gaming time so i don't no what the difference in 1050, 1050ti, 1050maxq, 1060, 1060ti, 1060maxq. if we are taking like 10 mints of game play more then really dsoent make a difference. i found this https://www.hidevolution.com/asus-gl703gm-ws71.html ASUS ROG Strix GL703GM-WS71 Scar Edition, gtx1060, the 144 will use more power from what i gatherd, $1850 16gb ram, 6core possessor, 4 Cells Battery, 76WHrs https://www.hidevolution.com/msi-p65-creator-8rd-021.html MSI P65 Creator 8RD-021, gtx1050ti, fhd 1080, 6core, 16gb ram, 256 m.2, 4 cells - 82Wh (Internal) , $1645
  9. looking at http://www.hidevolution.com/catalogsearch/result/?a=all&q=XPS+15 looks to be the best i can get... i was thinking on the Dell XPS 15 9570 but its on preorder and wont arrive before June 8 so... and going with this website seems to be the only one that offers liquid meatal. a 1060 mq would be nice but can seem to find it any were...
  10. i forgot to add that i will be taking it on a plane so people say the 100hwr is the most for carry on so i guess an external battery would be no use? also what you think the difference from 1050 to 1050ti is?
  11. hey i been trying to find a good gaming laptop that has good battery life and was wounding if some one els has look for that too. also its hard to find websites that give gaming battery life thoe normly only give max like youtube streming and info here would be helpfull. Looking to spend around $2000 ish Canadian thing i think i understand about battery life is: 1: 1080p screen best for battery life (probably smaller would also save on battery life like 17inch vs 15inch) 2: the lower the gpu the better the battery life so 1050, 1050 ti 1060 mq, 1060,1070 mq, so on 3: i think ssd or m.2 is better then a hhd for battery ( the m.2 and ssd might be too close i don't no) 4: possessor i5 vs i7 (i5 would use less wats) things im looking for are 4-6gb vram, 8gb ram, i5 (or any good quad core possessor for gaming) other things are in not apposed to using are external battery and recommendations? games i play now are mindcraft, diablo 2, some no man sky, cityskylines, so not too demanding games atm im ok with droping all the settings to the lowest to get a smooth gaming performance over max fps im also not a posted to getting used but i would like to get a laptop by jun 8 so... other things i found out that some laptops thermal throttle and this can cause vary choppy gamplay so looking for a laptop that don't thermal throttle (i might be interested in getting liquid thermal past put on ) also wound down clocking a say 1060 to like a 1060mq or 1050ti this would save on power right? one laptop i found was dell xps 15 9570, has 2x4gb ram, 1080p screen,256ssd, 6core processor,1050ti 4gbvram, 6-Cell 97 WHr battery $1880 Canadian
  12. finally got my 4pin extension cables after buy form like 6 people and waiting since November..... but now i can continue on when the weather gets better out.
  13. led stuff. led hub cant find the name. think i got it form dazmode. can do 20 leds and add a switch to turn them all on and off. but ill use the psu switch to tune all the leds off instead. internal usb hub with usb extension. 4 pin fan connectors / 3 pin fan connectors / wire /solder / heat shrink orange led switch to replace the but thermal take ones. / 90 degree pcie / terminal's / orange flat ethernet cable / orange usb dust convers 3.5mm / screws for desk led strip. orange power cables / long flat orange hdmi cables / orange internal hdim cables with keystone plate for internal gpu mount / orange sata with extensions (case is tall as balls) 4pin led strip female / male connectors / 3pin led strip female / male connectors / 4 pin ez led strip female to female / jst connector for 3 pin led strips set male /female 4 pin strip spliters testing rgb strip controllers 3 pin and 4 pin. rgb strip think its 5 meters
  14. so it began. i had a commander pro with 2x 3 pin cables....but i need 5...so i was like well ill make my own. part 1 buying every cable no wen to man. 20 mints with crimping and soldering i got 1 wire done... this was not going to work i suck balls! part 2 buying every combo of DuPont connector out there...EVERY ONE! I got 1 pin male to male / 1 pin female to female / 1pin female to male / 3 pin male to male / 4 pin female to female / 1 pin pre terminal male to male / 1 pin pre terminal fe male to female / 1 pin pre terminal male to female so i can just at the housing to them no crimping needed! which would have worked but how do you keep the plugged in to the lighting hub and commandeer pro and node pro. Gule? maybe build up a bump with nail polish? i just might cut of the 3 pin off of the 3 button controller that all the corsair fans come with. what a wast of money...but i can use some of the DuPont for leds for my pc and other project like Nintendo systems...might post a build log of that.
  15. might do the power with terminals we will see. (pic not mine just for the idea.) waiting on china to ship the dam 4 pin pwm extensions... and some zip tiy mounts so i can finisher drilling holes for the rgb strip... sight been like 85 days of waiting...
  16. new changes! started over.... nor res new pump mount trying to figer out the leds. psu to control all the leds with 1 button so i can sleep at night! Shit ton of corsair hd 120 refurbished (saved $10 a set of 3) pc 2 side no window side so don't really care how it looks i might make it look better down the road. all the fan wires will go thou this side. changed were the pedestals are so both on top. i should have gotten a quad rad... kinda layout for the fan lighting. got some generic pwm 10 fan hubs but found out only 1 fan is controlled buy the cpu motherboard making it just a hub at full power... really bad marketing. so ill just have to wire up my own. don't buy!
  17. had it all together....but could not get the air bubles out!....so i rip it out yet another time. plan z at this point....
  18. i dont no man i guess that just normal. the mane thing was the fan rpm that was pissing me off haha. i did do an up date to the msi afterburner to 4.5.0 still the same.
  19. ok so i did a restart and still at the same boost...and yes i live in Victoria.
  20. i no this but it is....thats the problem im pointing out.
