I know Linus made a video on it but I want to make a guide on how to get them via email. Since NVIDIA sent me a free 980 Ti for a folding project. I will talk you though the process.
First of all, do NOT contact the general/ support emails of companies. They will most likely put down your request or tell you to contact someone else. Contact the marketing and sales team of a company. I for example sent an email directly to the CEO of NVIDIA ( as they do not have a general marketing contact) and 2 weeks later their head of UK marketing contacts me personally saying he can send over a 980 Ti over. Generally speaking do not use live chat if it is for general enquirers, only use it if your emails have not been replied to and kindly request that they send your details to the marketing team and do not spam them with sponsorship requests as it will most likely piss them off. If they do not reply via email, Facebook messenger is another option.
Second of all, if you do not have a big viewerbase like Linus or have not done a sponsored project before tell the companies why your project is interesting and why you are doing it. I for one am doing a folding project to honour a friend who passed away from undiagnosed brain cancer.
Also first contact smaller companies first as they are more likely to accept. Then you can use them as an asset when trying to get bigger companies on board. E.g if I email gigabyte and I can tell them I have Watercooling UK on board.  At least then bigger companies have proof and then have less reason to reject you.
Thridly do not make your emails excessively long or short. Try and strike a perfect balance and try and include all the relevant facts. Always keep a kind and professional tone and end with Kind Regards and Thank You so at least then they know you mean business. Always end with ' I will email you with more details when you reply' so you open up more chance so the company has more reason to reply and get to know you and your project better. Even if they reject it will be after several emails rather than one swift rejection which will make you feel less sad and desperate.
Tip 4: if they send you a marketing email, keep it. Even if they say no, try again after a while and after you have more companies are on board. Patience is a virtue

I hope I kept this guide short and concise, and I will add more stuff over time.
Please leave a comment and I will reply ASAP
Sorry if there are any errors as I am typing this up on my iPad

Check what exam boards you use and look at the exam specification to see what exactly you have to learn
