    NEW PSU Tier List

The 650 and 750W units are made by Hipro. The 850, 1000, and 1200W units are made by Delta, on the same platform as Antec High Current Pro Platinum but with some unknown changes.

    Sell 8086k for 9700k?

I guess the concerns around hyperthreading being vulnerable made me wonder if getting a 9700k would be worth the ordeal of listing the 8086k on eBay etc etc

Alright, I'm mostly done with the overall design.

The colors should look somewhat similer.  The black will be harder more temperature resistant ABS while the blue will be softer more flexible PETG.

I took where I wanted each material the most in mind as well.  Mostly a PETG inner frame, and an ABS outer shell.

    Sell 8086k for 9700k?

That is a very good board. Well it's still the same either I9 9900K or zen 2, performance wise I7 is pretty much the same with the same clock speed.

Jagged Shadows,Pop in,Low LOD and jagged aa

So, how are you guys? I've tried Total War: Three Kingdoms and it has identical flickering on objects just like Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and The Division 2. Previous Total War games doesn't have TAA (only FXAA and MSAA), so no problem there. It seems this happens only when TAA is enabled. So, in my case, this must be related to AA (since Odyssey and D2 also uses TAA I believe). I also played A Plague Tale: Innocence. This game works perfect. And looks stunning. Probably the best looking game of this year. Less known, but quite a fun survival game Fade to Silence also looks ok.

New universal codec, Basis, may replace JPEG

It's a hardware feature of the ISP, although it could be done in software (I think RAW is currently done in software). The good thing about AVIF (the JPEG replacement I am championing for) is that you can hardware acceleration "for free" once you support AV1, which should happen later this year or sometime next year.

@Slottr Do you think the NH-D15 could also take a i7 9700k up its chest?

What SSD would you guys recommend

I would say SU800,MX500,WD Blue because the price isn't killing me.

    Sell 8086k for 9700k?

they are practically the same. so i dont see why you would consider it an upgrade......... also Zen 2 would probably be the only viable upgrade path.

    Valve releases Steam Chat App

Cool. Just a couple years late at this point. Steam chat used to be my main form of communication with many people, but that has switched over to Discord mainly now. Steam just didn't really add much to the experience, on top of deleting some links to some websites. *Blizzard flashbacks* dO yOu GuYs NoT hAvE pHoNeS?

I'm just curious as to if I should upgrade my RAM as compared to the rest of my PC it's a bit weak. So I was thinking maybe I should just get rid, and maybe get some faster RAM, and maybe 2x16 instead? Or is there not much point? Thanks!

    Sell 8086k for 9700k?

So I bought an 8086k new back in October of last year. Has served me greatly with my rig so far. Here is my dilemma though. I am about to purchase parts for a custom hardline water cooling loop, and before I make that commitment I wanted to know if I should sell my 8086k in favor of a 9700k. I ask this for 2 reasons. First, the recent vulnerabilities around hyperthreading make me wonder if switching to a 9700k will matter, and second, I have a z390 mobo so getting the latest gen is viable and resale on 8086ks seems stable around $390 so I would lose an arbitrary amount of money.
  17. LOOK AT THESE AMAZABALL 1440p RESULTS wow a whole 4 fps, and just forget that part where the 9900k is beat by cheaper intel processors, AHMAZING a whole nother 5 fps "Basically you can build a Ryzen 7 2700X gaming rig with a GTX 1080 Ti and still save over $100 compared to a i9-9900K build using a GTX 1070. Again, unless you have money to burn, the 9900K is not a great value at the current asking price. The Core i7-9700K is an even worse proposition in my opinion, although we haven’t had time to test thermal performance properly, it does seem to run hotter than the 8700K, despite being soldered. It also consumes quite a bit more power and offers a minor performance bump." -TechSpot AKA Hardware Unboxed THOSE 1440P RESULTS ARE FRIGGIN NEXT GEN BUY IT NOW BEFORE IT'S SOLD OUT!!!

Zero day exploit in windows 10 1903

Just like with Windows 7, I have never updated Windows 10 since I first installed it. I do have all the important shit but that's it. I disabled the Windows Update Service in services.msc as I just don't deem it important enough otherwise. A good A/V goes a long way, but common sense more so. If there's an ultra important update, I'll download it manually. Otherwise, I never have any issues what-so-ever. (wonder if it helps that I run the enterprise edition)

I tried to build a pc and messed up.

Hey, there aint no dust since i just built the pc yesterday. I didnt put any more standoffs, but since i know the existing standoffs are not enough, i definitely will. The temp is like 39 when first booted. Then it goes up and up until 47. I dont know people say that its normal to be a little hotter in bios. The case only has one fan so it might be it. My main cause of concern is the dust from drilling might have hurt the motherboars or anything else. Or i couldnt install the gpu properly and thats the reason the screwholes in the case didnt fit the ones on the gpu. Any way i can know for sure ?

Cheap Steel frame vs Carbon for a Bike

yeah go used for a bike if you have a low budget and don't go with a used full suspension with a 500 usd budget, you will only get really bad bikes, a hardtail MTB would be much better when it comes to the actual parts used on it and keep an eye out for hidden costs, like maybe the fork needs a service, or a bearing is in need of a change and so on

Good internet connection in another room

Bonded Moca adapters have a coax in and coax out that can run to your TV. Other than that they are just expensive and a little more complicated to setup.

Zero day exploit in windows 10 1903

I wonder if Windows 10’s built in mitigations can lower chances of being exploited like enabling Force ASLR and HVCI. I’m guessing the exploit was carried out using default, out of the box settings.

Kind of. A really mentally unstable one. They used to post a lot on Twitter but I think that has been deleted. They still maintain a blog though. You can read it here. https://sandboxescaper.blogspot.com/ The NSFW is just because of the language. Not because of any nude images or the likes.

    Valve releases Steam Chat App

Valve releases Steam Chat App I don't really care that much as I barely use Steam chat, but it's probably for the better considering the main Steam app is pretty bad. Sauce: https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1621770561065348220
