The Xeon, by far. The Xeon E3-1230 V3 compares to the i7 4790k, if I remember correctly. The FX-6300 compares to the i3 G3258.

The Xeon. Hands down.

I'm pretty sure a low end i5 can outclass a 6300.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

The FX-6300 is best compared to the i3 G3258, for single-threaded performance.

It's not an i3. Just so you know.

I made a typo! Sorry about that! It actually compares to the 4790k. It's about 15% slower, roughly, but also 30% cheaper.

first off all, i'd take the xeon 1231v3, it's 3 $ cheaper & little bit higher clock. Addtionally, I prefer the Intel because of 8threads instead of 6 and lower power consumption

Yeah, it's just kind of a habit to add i3 to it, since it's a dual-core, non-hyperthreaded chip. Not saying I'm right or anything. Just that it's a habit.

I've seen better. Like correcting normal words. But for tech that's pretty good.

pentiums are dual-core non-hyperthreaded, i3's are dual-core and hyperthreaded.

Who knew I'd get more attention than the OP by simply saying i3. Huh. It was a mistake. My apologies. I didn't mistake it for an i3 chip, I merely added that as a habit.

i3?

Take a look. I've said multiple times now that it was a mistake by habit.
