Budget Gaming headset or headphone/mic combo

Firstly, thanks for reading this post. I am a complete noob when it comes to anything concerning audio. (On thesaurus.com, the antonym for audiophile is me.)

 

As the topic suggests, I'm looking for a headset or headphone/mic combo (I'm not sure which is right for me)

 

Budget:

 

$100 USD (a little more than that is alright)

 

Preferences:

 

I will mainly be using them for casual gaming (but I wouldn't mind if I could use them to listen to my favorite songs as well.) I play just about everything; MMO, competitive online fps, MOBA, Triple A single player games like 'The Witcher: Wild Hunt', etc.

 

I've heard good things about 7.1 surround sound technology but I can't say I have too much knowledge on the subject. After reading the FAQ on this forum, I'm still pretty confused... (maybe I'm just a bit slow) 

 

If there are other things I don't even know I need or want, please do tell.

 

Additional information:

 

My head is ginormous like you wouldn't believe. It's so hard for me to find hats. Because of this, I need to know the headset/headphone is suitable for a large head and also won't make me feel like the hulk is trying to squeeze my head after say.... 4-5 hours of continuous use. Good build quality is also important so I don't break the device simply by wearing it.
