Rack-mount server thing

Alright, in preparation for expanding server-like computers at my grandma's (and eventually my mom's) at some point, I'm looking for some rack mount stuff on the cheap. List of stuff I need is below.

 

 

I need a cheap little KVM thing something like in this video.

 

And the fun part.

 

I need a 4 post rack/cabinet (cabinet would be ideal) that I can cram about 12U worth of computers/power banks in (just not including a KVM switch). So about 14U in total?

 

 

Sorry if this is a giant clusterfuck of shit, but I'm cold, can't think, tired, and am trying to look for things that I have never looked at before. :P

What are you using this for and what's your budget?

More or less home use, MAYBE a small amount of business, and basically it's as tight as skinny jeans on a chubby chick on a hot summer day when she sees a store of Twinkies. :P

 

Still has to fit about 12U's of stuff (managed to get it down a bit).

Seems like you could just about all of that using virutal machines on a single hyperthreaded xeon

You can run virtual machines from inside freeNAS

Problem then is that if one falls, everything dies. At this point, I need something with 12U of capacity (or something like that). I just keep getting smaller. :P

It's unlikely that you'll run into any major issues with the proper hardware on one machine and a battery back up for it
