Best YouTube Tech Camera?

PiroesII

So I was wondering what is a good YouTube camera for tech videos (starter), I do this as a hobby and don't want anything above $500. But I wan't the same type of quality as tech reviewers (blurred background, ect), of course I will only get 1080P but I want the same type of features as said above.

Here is what I found so far

- Sony RX100 M1 $420 (Non dslr, but similar)

- Canon 1200D (BODY ONLY) $299

Thanks and cheaper = better

If you're going for a 4K camera, I don't think they have good quality camera's for 500 or less.

If you're going to buy a 1080p camera then you should take a look at Canon 600D/700D.

Not looking for like a $3000 8k one, something to get me started. Just 1080p, I'm only after blurred backgrounds (focus ect).

And how does the RX100 compare to the 700D (as thats pushing my budget with 700D being $500)

Just 1080p... And wouldn't the 1200d be better than 700D?

And if not how does the RX100 compare to the 700D (as thats borderline pushing my budget)

The 700D is better than the 1200D. It's very close between the 700D and the RX100. The 700D has fast autofocus and has a flipout screen. The RX100 has better image stabilization and is more compact than the 700D. At the end it's your decision, look what suits you the most and pick on of those camera's :)

Leaning towards the RX100, as seen how it looks like a DSLR, but is tiny!

EDIT: Did some searching around and found the Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera 18-55mm VR Lens Kit For only $449 and apparently the D3200 is better than the 700D (comparison website), so does this make a clear winner in term on focusing blurring out in video, like I want in the videos above...?

I really suck with camera (never had one), so don't know much about len's/cameras.

I would go for the D3200 then. For the price it's a really good camera. There isn't a major difference between the two but still, for the price it is really good.

@Piroesll

The first video you linked is MKBHD, he shoots on a fifty to seventy-five thousand dollar camera body (he keeps upgrading). I know he has at least one $5000 lens he uses as  prop in many videos.

But you can achieve similar results on a cheap DSLR and a good lens. The blurred background effect largely depends on a fast, good lens and these will usually cost more than you camera, though if you have more skill than I do, you can probably get similar results with great lighting and a slower lens.

D3200 is a good camera. Remember with Canon though, the upgrade path is a little better as you'll always be able to find professional and prosumer cameras that take Canon lenses, and none use Nikon Lenses. I've heard Canon tends to have better video features, though not sure what that's based on - I am able to record pretty damn nice video on my Canon T2i/550D though.

Agreed 100% with the above, although modern Nikons are just as good if not sometimes better at video than the canon models

Also because of the flange distance, Nikon glass fits on every camera, even Canon, you can use nikon glass on a C500 (no AF though)

Perhaps doing some studying, research, reading up on some materials to have a better idea before making a purchase... When video recording capability were first added to digital photo cameras there were few articles online explaining the pros and cons, the "how-to's", etc.  But it's been quite a number of years since then, so do a bit of Googling to read up on some articles to have a better idea.

And don't use the word "BEST", because there really isn't any camera that is the "BEST".  It all depends on what people can afford and what the requirements they have vs. the compromises they need to make.

You may want to take a lesson from this person in the video.  He may have taken down his video and YT channel, but I keep it around to use as an example.

Why not atleast increase your budget by 50-100%? If you want to take quality videos, you ain't getting it in that budget.

Especially as the OP stated he/she/it has never had a camera before, which also implies lack of any accessories.

Also, wants quality akin to a $80000 camera, only has $500

Well technically shooting 1080p normal 24, 25 or 30p in good light using a consumer or medium prosumer level DSLR (with the right lens) can match the quality of a more expensive camera and as long as Youtube/Vimeo is the media playback medium.  Obviously for audio there is a need to invest in additional hardware, but for video it can be done.  IF the user knows how and isn't expecting to do a lot of advanced camera movements.  Video image quality of DSLR's on the market today is much improved from the video quality in DSLR's of 5 years ago.

Sending a subpoena right now

All I mean is, camera quality aside, MKBHD has amazing microphones, lighting, cameras, lenses etc

$500 might just get a decent DSLR and lens, the rest still costs money and will take 10x more work, I find better gear just makes the workflow so much easier

But yeah a D3200 or something would be my recommendation

Meanwhile, I'm here looking for a good 4K camera for B-roll in a porn film I've always wanted to do and somewhat have the means to do it.

Welp, just sub $3000. I was thinking of getting another A7S MKII because I love working with S-Log... but for the sake of a B-roll camera... in porn... kind of hard to justify it LMFAO! I might as well rent another A7S MKII or a GH4 for that LOL.

Unsure of how facetious you're being, but give me a few weeks and I can send you some footage from a BlackMagic URSA.

EDIT: out of budget, but I can still send you footage ;)
