Looking for the most powerful single slot card I can find.

Uh, no, I have a 7970Ghz. Can't you read my signature correctly?

I'm pretty sure that the waterblocked 7970 won't work in his computer, not that many people watercool. I'm pretty sure he would have specified if he did. The 7750 is faster than a 9600Gt, this is fact. DVI does not output audio. If he wants the TV to output the audio, the 9600gt will not work.

Just to prove it to you, this is a 7750 vs an 8800GT (or a 9800GT), which is faster than a 9600Gt http://anandtech.com/bench/product/521?vs=535

I do believe you are the one who is biased here.

If anyone can point me to a faster single slot card, go ahead.

eugghh

I glanced your sig from another screen, my bad I hold my hands up. but

1) I wasnt the first to mention watercooling, i was just backing up the idea of it being plausible.

2) i didnt say the 9600gt was faster, i said MY 9600gt will keep up, which going by gpu review im only 3% behind, The fact that this is largely of low use to this application does not illude me but it is of food for thought for people stumbling on this thread if budget WAS an issue.

3) you can output audio through dvi, (i might be able to do it myself but i havent tried for the following reason)

4) the fact he wants a single slot card in a shutle case makes me beleive he probably has (should have ) a dedicated soundcard, likely going to a receiver/amp to a dedicated speaker setup not just his tv.....have you heard tv speakers these days

My main idea was to give the op some food for thought in a sea of "7750, 7750, 7750"ness, the most common answer isnt always the only answer and it helps to think outside the box at other options.

640? Is the highest on nvidia side I believe though im not sure if the revised one is.

There is, Gigabyte make a single slot low profile 640 on Kepler arc.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGHLDY6/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

EVGA also makes a single slot 640 but it's fermi I believe

But the 640 isn't as fast as a 7750.

all 640's are kepler. the 630 was the one  that was fermi at first. Either way the older 640 is better as it has a wider memory bus.

Here are the newegg links for the 640's http://goo.gl/MUYOzZ http://goo.gl/PWxmKc

If the AMD is close or even just not blowing the 640 out of the water I would go 640 for a HTPC setup.

Yea that's right, I looked at these GT cards awhile ago for a HTPC and I just misremembered which one was kepler at first. Still the 7750 is better, I'm actually excited to see the 7xx GT cards.

GPUreview means nothing. They only compare by clock speeds, which across different GPU and CPU architectures, doesn't matter at all.

If your clock speed is around 750mhz or whatever compared to my 7970's 1125mhz, how come mine is more than four times faster than yours?

If you were trying to give variety in the recommendations, why a 9600gt? How can that compete with a 7750? It can't.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

I think Nvidia said there wouldnt be any 700 series nvidia cards... There weren't any 500 series either if I remember, or if there were they were the super low end ones.

wel... looks like he is not gonna use that anymore. put the dremel on it.

lol, you actually need that there especially if its DVI-I. Id actually like to se someone do that and see what happens. It would probably be better to just desolder it though.

plus the 9600 GT was only ever an alright card. It was the 8800 GT and the 9800 GT that were the good ones. I actually still have a 9800 GT in a system, not that I use it for gaming.
