First question: you find the pixelation of your current 24" 1080p annoying? Care to elaborate what that means?

Second question: What games do you mostly play? FPS, mmo's, single players? Competitive or casual?

CPU: i7-4770K  Cooler: NZXT X60  GPU: Asus GTX 770 2GB  MB: Asus Maximus VI Hero  RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600MHz  PSU: Be Quiet! 630 Watt  Case: NZXT H440

by pixelation i mean aliasing, and AA just makes it blurry :P

I mostly play FPS semi-compedativly (compedativly for fun :P) and a bit racing games like Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally (part of the reason i tough of maybe getting a ultrawide instead of the PG279Q which i have waited on for a couple of months)

I like to be Good in FPS games (which i am :P) but i would perferr being more imersed into the game

I don't think an ultrawide would be all that great for FPS, it would probably be to stretched out looking. Racing games probably will be better though!

i tough of getting that originally (before i heard of pg279q) but i have heard that it has horrible QC and it is pretty much the same as the PG279Q (ROG has 165hz and less "office" like looks) for 5% more money

Well I think you probably know what I'm going to say :D

What you want... does not exist(yet).

You'll have to decide for a high refresh rate monitor of 27"(Asus PG279q or Acer xb270hu) if you want to go competitive in fps games

OR

go for a the Asus/Acer 34" ultrawide screens for more immersivity at 100Hz(awesome for racing and single player games)

Take into account the price difference though, the ultrawides are far more expensive than the 27" monitors.

The XB271HU will be replacing the XB270HU, it SHOULD have better QC, but truth be told the PG278Q had even more QC issues than the Acer, so really it would be a "gamble" either way you went. The latest XB270HU batches are Revision 2 and very few seem to be with issue. Also, if you order direct from Acer, they will replace the screen as many times as it takes to get you a perfect one if that matters to you.

Quality is fixed since July. And even with a GTX980Ti you will not reach that 165hz in AAA Titles and Asus Displays had Problems in the Beginning too. I like the looks of the pg279q more too, but the xb270hu looks better in person than in videos.

Yes sir, my first from Acer's online store was perfect, the 2nd I bought off a user on HardForum was perfect (April batch), and the 3rd I just got in from Amazon this week is issue free as well (August batch).

Yeah, 1440p is pretty hard to drive at higher reselution, but luckily for me i have encounterd little to no SLI issues and 970 SLI performs 10-15 % better then referance 980ti IIRC, i do play mostly BF4 which i get a constant 144fps (Vsynced) on 1440P DSR (maxed out 2x msaa), and for games harder to drive, that is what you have Gsync for :P

Something to keep in mind but don't quote me on it as I'm not sure about it.

If you do decide to go for the ultrawide screen... Wouldn't you possibly have issues with the limited vram on your 970's?

Considering they do have quite a bit more of pixels over the 27" monitor.

This is just an assumption of mine and I may be totally wrong.

hmmm, i havn't tought about ultrawide VRAM, i tought about it for standard 16:9 1440p but i didn't really matter there since i run all my games on 1440p DSR. but i will run some benchmarks on 2560x1440 vs 3440x1440 vram usage. future proofness is also a point (i know, i know, no system is future proofe) Vram may be enough now, but i a couple of years it may be to little

What about the ASUS PG348Q, the ACER Predator X34 has quite a few issues, I think Ultra wide would be better than the ASUS PG279Q

Some guys said on the Reddit /r/Monitors/ that some Swedish website said the PG279Q has ghosting and bad input lag at 165hz with Gsync enabled. I tried going to the website but it kept taking me to some lame white page with a like three lines of text in Swedish. I have no idea if that's true or not anyone see the same thing or hear about it?

Ok I did some digging here's what I found.

Review - https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/3ncdw5/sweclockers_pg279q_review/

Guys comment - https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/3nuzaf/can_anyone_comment_on_the_acer_xb270hu_quality/

If you scroll down a littlebit on the comments you can see this person says "According to the Swedish review, 165hz increases input lag and ghosting anyway"

You should go for the X34 If you can afford it, It's a battle of 165 Hz refresh rate and curvature. I've tested the PG278Q but not the PG279Q yet so I wouldn't know if the input lag and ghosting is true.

#1 source for all gaming monitors.
