Ive Been "busy" Lately

MahtXL

post-109182-0-36605300-1441366333.jpg

Had spare LED fan lying around, figured id go push pull on the ol 212 evo, fan that came with it is on the rear shootin the air out the butt as per usual, and the led fans suckin the air in and blowin it at the rear fan, though im sure if you're on the air cooling sub forum you know what push pull is. sadly it wont be like this for long, this build will soon be a relic as i replace it with my second gaming rig build "Viper" https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/MahtXL/saved/RKDypg

Speaking of, anyone have any experience with the V8 (cooler master)? I want it mostly because 1, it looks great, 2 its going to match the build theme, and 3 i love V8 engines so naturally.

No problems on my end since i got it, never seems to max itself out either- few games use all 8 cores to there full potential, bf3 and 4, witcher 3, and gta v being a few ive noticed to perform and use it fantastically. At this point in time the 4790k will be a much more future proof chip, while still great, you do need to know the 8350 is from the tail end of 2012.

If you're using a 8350 I'd spend a bit more and get the ASUS Sabretooth or ROG board as they can get the CPU to 5ghz easily, as for the cooler, I've no experience with the V8, the V6 is on my brother's 1080T and is alright but it's stock with all the power saving stuff turned on. I'd recommend the Phanteks PH14 or anything else bigger like the new Noctua because that 8350 is going to kick out a great amount of heat once you start getting the most out of it.

I already own the chip. Do people not know how to read my sig, and no its not, its fine.

See here for an 8350 running two 780s and two 980s. Which it can do fine, its only at 3 plus gpus where it will start to choke stuff, a single 390x will be absolutely fine.

Nothing wrong with the 8350 that he is reusing from his existing system so there is no point buying an intel CPU unless upgrading to Skylake. I've yet to run into any issues with my 8350 and gaming.

Not a fan of the rogs look or the tooth sadly. i swapped from the asrock killer to the msi, and i think it will do just fine, i dont want more than 4.5- which im sure the V8 could handle. im already at 4.2 on a 212 evo and its alright.

Im just now having enough money to buy it a proper board, i kinda cheaped out when i first got it, i just want to give it a nice proper gaming board, and not this horrid 760g chipset. then after that ill use "viper" until that 390x can no longer run games at high 1080p 60 fps min. Then its an entire new system with AMDs upcoming Zen. yay

I've yet to see the Asrock clock one of these power hungry chips without setting itself on fire. If you're happy not getting the most out of your hardware then fine, but personally I don't see the point in owning a 5ghz chip and letting it sit next to stock speeds.

first of all I was on mobile so no signatures so I had no idea you had a 8350, and you were talking about a 4790k so it was my understanding that you had a 4790k in your current system so I was confused why you were downgrading cpu`s, but now that im on desktop and see you already have a 8350 I understand and I also undertstand the conversation about the cpu and 8 cores as I thought you were referring to the 4 cores 8 threads of the 4790k when talking about games taking advantage of 8 cores

Overclocking their CPUs would of removed the bottleneck, also the FX range like fast ram so overclocking the ram helps in this area too. I get a nice 300-350 fps in CSGO with everything maxed out, I highly doubt its necking my 970, again I don't get stuttering either. My friend has an alienware with an intel in and his FPS are lower than mine and its pretty well built and clocked. Hardly a downgrade considering it's a cpu from 2012.

csgo should not even be mentioned unless your talking about a gtx 950 and low end, any pc can run csgo, any high end pc can do 300 fps on csgo and it isn't hard, but if you go to actually intensive games then it matters

Ok, the 58-100fps I get in arma II dayz, better? What else? GTAV? Haven't played it but I really doubt my system cant handle it. Have you owned an FX chip or are you just in here waving the holy intel flag for the sake of it? Intel chips are great, you can plug them in without any tuning or overclocking and get good fps, but give me a day overclocking and tuning and i'll give your intel a run for it's money, will it perform better? nah be about 20fps slower tops but you'd barely notice in real world performance.

sounds like your waving the amd fan boy flag over here, I'm just discussing facts I couldn't care less about amd vs nvidia and amd vs intel, I go with what ever best fits what I need and at the time of building my system intel/nvidia was my best choice, and 20 fps is quite a big difference if your getting 60 fps or even 80 fps

sounds like your waving the amd fan boy flag over here, I'm just discussing facts I couldn't care less about amd vs nvidia and amd vs intel, I go with what ever best fits what I need and at the time of building my system intel/nvidia was my best choice, and 20 fps is quite a big difference if your getting 60 fps or even 80 fps

Funnily enough I said Intel are better in that quote you listed, where as you're just saying "get a 4970K" or whatever for the main reason of an additional unnoticeable gain in fps when he already has a capable CPU. Over in the 8350 owners club on OCN many of them switched to intel for a while and noticed no difference other than the fps counter reading slightly better.

I'm upgrading to Skylake next btw cos I'm an AMD fanboy

This is straight from OCN in the FX owners forum.

Soooo.....

The ol' "great value" ASRock 970 Performance I bought....

Well it has pooped the bed.....

First getting lockups booting into windows.

Dropped back down to defaults on CPU and it locks up in windows constantly.

Also locks up trying to get into BIOS. Random restarts.

Obvious motherboard issues.

I am thinking about ordering a CHFV...... they have open box for $172 right now.

I implore you to get a high tier board with this CPU.

@Benji_w how did you overclock 8350 to 5Ghz? How is it still stable.
