Psu exposed to water....

So recently i had a leakage (Woke up this other day and my room had a 15cm layer of water on the floor...) my pc stood on the floor so the first thing i did was to lift it up and put on some blankets and let it dry for 24 hours also used some paper and hairdrier. so i tried the pc out today and it's working fine, the psu is the only thing that actually got exposed to water. i was wondering if this could make the psu "Die" /have a shorter life span or if it really shouldn't matter at this point because it's allready working.

 

I thought i could ask some of the gurus on the forums because i really don't have any knowledge of this.

1) I think you were being a bit risky by using a hair dryer on components but I guess it's good if things still work.

2) If it's a good PSU and it has *completely* dried out then I guess it should be fine - you might've lessened the life a bit but it'd be hard to tell.

only thing could be some increased corosion. What kind of water was in your room? tabwater? How is your tabwater (in terms of minerals)?

TURN IT OFF AND READ THIS!!!

If it was off when the event occurred you should be fine given the steps you followed. But is would be a good idea to check your voltages with a PSU tester to verify that it is working properly. At work we had a PSU go out on one of the PC's and fried the MOBO. We thought it was a MOBO issue until the new MOBO also got fried. It took two days of use for the chokes on the MOBO to give out (shout out to ASUS with there tough hardware) but they eventual did fail. after testing the PSU it was putting out about 20V on the 12v rail confirming it was the PSU. So test the voltages your chokes my be getting hammered and you don't know it yet.

Or you could check the bios of your motherboard and see what the output on each of the rails are. (Assuming your bios has that feature.)

Well, it wasn't any regular leakage from a water pipe, it's raining like hell in norway atm so the water actually came up from the ground so.... it was pretty dirty... :/

It's a ax860 platinum rated so i guess that ranks as a "Good" Psu?

Throw out the PSU. The PCB will start to corrode. Eg:
