Good Interchangeable Lens Mirrorless Camera for $500?

Guest

My family goes on vacation a whole lot, and I've been wanting a good camera for a while.  Even though my Note 4 takes good pictures, it hasn't been working the greatest lately.  The time has come where I am in the market for a good mirror less camera for around $500.  I've done a bit of research, and I, apparently along with lots of other people, really like the Sony a6000.  Even though it is a bit expensive, it fits just in my budget when it is used.  Are there any other good ones that I should be looking at, or should I be on the lookout for a good a6000 deal popping up on eBay?  Thanks :)

Ah okay that's great news.  I'm gonna wait a bit until after my birthday though.  How long do you think the a6000 should last me?  I have a Sony DSC-HX20V that is already dying on me after 2-3 years.

Considering the A6000 can grow with you as a photographer (assuming you want to learn more about photography), at least 3-5 years unless something crazy comes along or you break it some how.

What I mean grows with you is that you can get many different lenses for it, and you have full control over things like ISO, shutter speed, aperture, white balance, etc.

So does the A5000, even entry level DSLRs and other mirrorless cameras like the Nikon 1 or Olympus Pen.

You could possibly try looking for a cheap Micro Four Thirds camera, like a GH2 or maybe a EP3/EPL5? This are decent choices but are slightly old, but it will allow you to buy better lenses

Go for the A6000 over the A5000 if you can. The electronic view finder makes more of a difference than you think, as does the screen which flips in a different fashion between the two.
